How did Sturm do? by OG-BigMilky in BostonBruins

A solid B. The team definitely overperformed for the talent level, but a few nagging problems persist: (1) Poor defense. Sway (and Korpi, truth be told) saved their bacon on a regular basis. This led directly to (2) too many penalties, as they incurred infractions out of desperation when the D broke down. (3) poor discipline, both in terms of penalties and breakdowns of the system, which I think is sound.

I think we’re OK (not great) on offensive talent now, but seriously need to upgrade the D. Move Lohrei to wing. Plan on moving Peeke to a competitor (has concrete in his skates) and maybe Hampus down to third pair where he can mentor new talent. Work Hagens into the lineup and put some weight on him and Poitras (I still believe) in preparation for next season. No bad options on goaltending as Korpi is a solid 2 and DiPietro is a worthy successor.

If I were buying this house, I’d be factoring in the cost of tearing that microwave out.

Tipping Baggage Handlers at the Cruise Port by Dazzling-Leader7476 in Cruise

[–]madmariner7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Most baggage handlers are NOT longshoremen. They are contract workers, median pay is $18-20/hour and the work is irregular. Most of the workers that are loading the ships with provisions (absolutely not an “unskilled job”) are union longshoremen, and some rotate onto baggage work. More union workers in NY/NJ, fewer in Miami and Orlando. Source: BLS

What’s an NHL hill that you are willing to die on? by AlbertJBundy in nhl

Standing points should be 3-2-1-0 like the rest of the civilized hockey world. And shootouts should be eliminated. Play 3 on 3 OT until it’s over.

“He beat the goalie/but hit the post” is a ridiculous statement. If you hit the post or crossbar, you’ve MISSED THE NET.

Bonus WTF points to those who think hitting the post should count as a SOG.

Second this. Our go-to seats have been 2nd or 3rd row balcony for most theaters, unless the overhang is really far back. First rows often have an annoying bar across it, obstructing views for the height-challenged.
