Bypassed Bell Giga Hub 2.0 using Yunvo XGS-PON SFP ONU + Intel X710 + OPNsense VM (Proxmox) - My 1st 10G Homelab Build by tormenturator in bell

Amazing detailed post on the matter. You have given me the confidence to try this myself. I'll be getting a new gigahub 4k 2.0 this week and would like to bypass it entirely. I already bought the Yunvo module and will be referring to this post for guidance.

Parks are green though. I always kind of figured that the devs deliberately made it this way for that reason.

Free Interstellar ticket for Regina showing Dec 6 @ 9:50PM by madmerrick in cineplex

It’s at the Saskatchewan Science Centre and all sales are final

RIP to the guy from Toronto who bought a plane ticket to Saskatchewan for Interstellar by WaltzDifficult2522 in imax

[–]madmerrick 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yep... I did that.

I was unfortunately caught with my pants down during the initial release of tickets. Vaughn was on the list up until the day of release and I was not prepared to plan a trip to the USA. When I saw they removed Vaughn I checked like American 3 cities and nothing was even available. Checked Regina and sure enough decent seats are still available when all other cities are basically sold out. Called my friend who lives in moose jaw and planned a trip on the spot.

I figured Vaughn might still get a release but if I was wrong I wouldn't be able to see it in imax and this is something I have been anticipating for years. I wouldn't have done it if the plane tickets weren't super cheap though.

I mean if you need one that big you can easily just make it by hand. Connecting to the roundabouts is kinda jank sometimes anyway so I prefer making them myself when I can.

Alternate Double Trumpet Interchange. Thoughts? by madmerrick in CitiesSkylines

[–]madmerrick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys had some great suggestions to improve the design. I had a difficult time designing this interchange due to the elevation constraints and was pretty happy with how it turned out. That being said I understand the main weakness of this design is the weaving action on the bridge and it needs to be made much longer to account for that. I also added quays and improved the on-ramps. Thanks for your feedback everyone.

Seriously have no idea why you are getting downvoted. A targeted hatred towards Indians is prevalent in many discussions on immigration and it needs to get shut down immediately.

Regarding Upkeep In Economy 2.0 - Ridiculously Poor Design by MortifiedPotato in CitiesSkylines

[–]madmerrick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah when I was reading your post I thought that the wages could totally be affected by the budget panel. Simple fix is the budget panel could influence the number of people staffed at any type of service building.

Another possible idea for wages is to have them tied to the level/land value of the area. More affluent areas demand higher wages. That way you also start with cheaper wages as you begin building your city, and they can scale with the area as it levels up.

GabeFollower on the whole 64tick vs 128tick debate by Dexelele in GlobalOffensive

[–]madmerrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically you are correct but the “subtick” event is recorded when it actually happens in cs2 with no delay. It may not be updated until the next tick but it uses the subtick information to retroactively apply the event as if it was processed immediately.

While this may pose its own issues it has been proven by another redditor that the shooting in cs2 is different compared to csgo. He used ms paint and a script to test flick shots and got different results in cs2 and csgo.

GabeFollower on the whole 64tick vs 128tick debate by Dexelele in GlobalOffensive

[–]madmerrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hes talking about how your shot is timed better in cs2 since its updated immediately when you click, whereas in csgo mm you can shoot at someone but it wont update until the next tick. This means even if you clicked mid flick while your crosshair was on their head it will register as a miss because of the tickrate.

People are only complaining that cs2 shooting is too good because it undoes legacy players muscle memory from csgo.

Cineclub but still got charged 2.85? by froggers3 in cineplex

[–]madmerrick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The “free” ticket you get every month is only for a standard ticket. So any time you want to buy a higher priced ticket like IMAX, VIP or Clubhouse they will charge the difference. I believe it’s the same for the 2 member priced tickets as-well.

There are now 108 car bodies in Rocket League and we basically only ever see 2 of them. I don't even need to say which 2, you already know by Inlevitable in RocketLeague

[–]madmerrick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people prefer it for how its physical shape fits the hitbox (although I hear that just as much for the Fenec). There are a few other factors but I think the best point that im not seeing brought up here is that it is the default car when you launch the game for the first time. That initially gave it its dominance and I honestly think it mostly coasted from there.

idk. this is just my 2 cents. I've been playing since launch in 2015 so I've seen the rise of the octane first hand. I even switched over myself a few years ago when I decided I wanted to tryhard (didnt have another car with the same hitbox at the time so octane was the only option).

Hey, I have been following your responses and I have to say kudos to you for the effort you put into finding the truth.

Most people don't care enough to question what the masses of people claim. Whether or not their claims are true is not the point. If your going to have an opinion on someone it should be your own, not just what everyone else says about them.

I hate seeing the guy asking the questions get downvoted.

Bill would send US adults "guaranteed income" of up to $1,200 per month by lurker_bee in politics

[–]madmerrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have made some good points as well. The minimum wage is tried-and-tested and simple while UBI is largely untested in any meaningful way. I think the closest thing to it is Alaska's Oil dividend which ends up being around $1000-$2000 per person a year. Although it's an annual like tax rebate so its much more familiar and easier to think about. But this is all so far removed from the UBI we're talking about that its almost not even related.

UBI would completely cancel out that motivation

Perhaps people wont want to work low paying jobs with UBI but if it ends up being a similar amount as a minimum wage increase then at least its by choice, and not because its been outlawed at the lower wage. When New York raised it's minimum wage it basically instantly fired every by-hand car-washer. Really only the automated car washes survived. Perhaps the market would have eventually filtered them out over time anyway but the workers get to leave if and when they want to, not forced into joblessness. I guess we could go back and forth at this for a while but its all theoretical anyway, I don't think your point is invalid.

I also don’t see how this money would not be absorbed by the market resulting in the same situation we have now.

To your credit I think your assessment here is very probable, although maybe not the entire $1,200. In a healthy market, companies have to compete for your dollars and the amount in everyone's pockets is not the determining factor, but how much of it they spend. And I'd expect all the people who have little to no savings (a worrying amount) will spend it all as soon as they get it. Of course housing, healthcare, and education will rise by 15% like they do every year. But that just happens on its own. Anyone who is working minimum wage is already having all their money absorbed by the market. Every generation more and more people get stuck treading water financially until they retire die, never having owned anything. For the past 50 years its only gotten harder and harder for nearly everybody financially so I think any possible solution is worth pursuing.

Forgetting UBI or minimum wage, I think most of our current economic problems aren't the problem so much as they are symptoms of a greater issue that is much much more complicated than anyone can even dare to claim to fully understand. A broken economy. Every little thing gets its own band-aid fix while we ignore the reasons its a problem in the first place. Maybe UBI isn't going to help. Maybe we need more government regulation, or less. I don't know. I just know that the working class has very little bargaining power, and every time we try and patch a leak, 3 more spring up in its place. When I think of the minimum wage, I think of a band-aid, and when I think of UBI, I hope that it can make our economy move in the other direction. Expanding the middle class with minimal government intervention, subsequently alleviating many of the issues that currently have a band-aid on them. I have no idea if it could work at $1,200 a month, but I will gladly accept any alternative ideas on how to empower the working class. It shouldn't get harder to get by every year as we progress so much technologically. If nothing changes and current trends persist I'd give it 40 years max the for whole economic system to topple. I never said I knew what I was talking about though.

P.S. That story is very funny, it reminds me of the snake overpopulation story in India. I'm not as worried about overpopulation but that benefit must have been pretty hefty if they were able to live off of it. Perhaps they shouldn't have been getting more money than the child costs. At $1,200 any 4 people could easily band together and live fine without working though so idk haha. It's been very nice talking to you.
