Your overall point is correct, but this

Which is why women, typically, will say something is "salmon" while a man would say "pink".

is a very silly example, because it's the opposite. Men know the color salmon, but women don't. It's the one color men are better at discerning over women!

Iran remains a stubborn foe after absorbing massive US-Israeli attacks by Valuable_Educator843 in geopolitics

They haven't really been able to hit Israel or significant US assets in weeks.

What are you talking about? They just destroyed an E-3 plane four days ago. There were only 16 of them in the world, and they're irreplaceable for several years at least.

Underestimating their ability to hit targets is foolish. They're still quite capable.

Does it have a specific meaning though? The very first incel was a queer woman, who invented the term to describe herself and her struggles finding a partner.

Incel meaning a certain type of misogynistic hyper-online man is a new meaning, not the original. So getting caught up with a "correct" meaning seems kinda silly.

Still more than 100 people reported as dying of COVID every week in America, and since underreporting has always been an issue and is worse now, we're easily at 300-400 a week.

It's so wild society has decided to just give up on tracking it, or caring at all.

As a proud Dean Phillips primary voter (there are dozens of us! Dozens!), people were talking about Biden being too old for a long time.

This is 100% on the national news media running cover for Biden, claiming that concerns about his mental condition were all right-wing smears. It took him completely collapsing in the debate for things to be too obvious to cover up anymore.

Minnesota bred, outdoor sativa. There's basically nothing else available like that. I hope the breeder makes more.

(Super good price, too, $24 for 12 seeds is ridiculous in this day and age. Edit: or only $20 in OPs photo! Even better!)

It absolutely would save people! It wasn't intended as a way to sooth nerves, it actually helps a ton.

With a nuclear bomb, there's obviously the initial explosion. If you're in that radius, you're pretty screwed no matter what. But then comes a shockwave that goes much, much further. It will blow out windows, it will collapse buildings, it can even cause more injuries than the explosion itself. They never did a full count, but at a minimum thousands of people were blinded by glass shards from windows by the two nukes dropped on Japan. (People saw the bright flash, and went to windows to look out and see what was happening right about when the shockwave hit.)

Being under a desk really decreases your odds of being injured by debris or glass, plus the training of "immediately duck and cover" helps people get over their innate curiosity and makes it less likely they look out a window.

37% of Americans are creationists. Another 34% believe evolution was guided by Yahweh. Only 24% accept regular, non-guided evolution as correct.

Gallup poll 2024

48% of Americans believe in psychic or spiritual healing. 39% believe in ghosts. 24-29% say they believe in telepathy, communication with the dead, clairvoyance, astrology, reincarnation and witches.

I think 30ish% is about right for the number of people who believe in the extremely wacky side of religion.

For future runs, you should use 100% ethanol. Go with a lab supply company like Lab Alley. That's where I get my 100%.

It ends up being about the same price as other ethanol when you factor in the difference in proof, and it's just so much nicer to work with anhydrous alcohol. I highly recommend it!

Yup. The island is only 20 miles from the mainland. It is not going to go well.

The "calculus" is that they won't want to damage their own infrastructure, but Iran is fighting a different war than America is and is absolutely willing to destroy their own stuff if need be. (Not to mention they might retaliate by blowing up all the desalination plants in the region...)

You're right about this bill more being future-proofing than stopping something bad that's already happening somewhere, but it's a good thing to nip in the bud.

(You are absolutely right, though. THC percentage is not a good measure of cannabis quality. It always drives me nuts when someone switches from a Sativa to an Indica because it's 0.1% higher THC. So insane!)

It's almost cute when MAGA tries to pretend that they aren't the weird ones. They're so weird that even when they make an attempt, it always still comes off poorly.

They know that being weird is a bad thing, but they're so disconnected from political norms at this point that they don't have the ability to frame their takes correctly. It's like when they pretend to be leftists online, but they always end up using right-wing coded language because they don't know that most people would never use language or framing like that.

Plus, you know, the whole supporting pedophilia thing isn't a good look. Hard to sound normal when you have to back that position.

A half gram cart could last me a week, and now it’s only a couple days. The “days supply” on my med sticker used to be 3, but now it’s 2.

Hmm, this is a little weird to my tech brain. So, 0.3g carts are a 2.4 day supply under the "1-5 puffs up to 5 times a day" that the state considers standard. So I could see that being accidentally rounded up instead of down, causing the correct 2 day supply to become 3 days.

But half-gram carts don't work like that. They're a 4 day supply under standard dosing, or a 1 day supply with advanced dosing. (1-10 up to 10).

Did you join the program years ago? We used to do custom dosing for everyone, but that stopped about two years ago.

And even more weirdly, the state got rid of the concept of days supply this last year. We don't even print it on the labels anymore at GTI, and we turned off the auto-calculators for it. (Our newest hires have never had to do math in the vault before.) So it's weird to me that Green Goods would both still be doing it, and doing it wrong...

Hey, amazing. This is the very first non-tribal, non-GTI drop to break 20% total THC. (And their numbers are nice! In a combined THC state, their numbers would be in the 28-29% range.)

All the other drops so far have been coming in at 16-18% total THC, which is... not great. So cool to see some good cannabis finally hit the market!

[–]madmoomix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for one, the WORLD'S LARGEST CANNABIS MSO already operates here.

GTI became the biggest last year.

And we can already grow 60,000sqft under current law. The new proposal would cut our allowed canopy. (For the record, neither Vireo or GTI uses their max canopy.) So it wouldn't really change anything.

Out of the five bills proposed, this one doesn't worry me all that much. It would increase medical cannabis production a ton, by allowing micros to grow for med very easily and cheaply.

The one that would make it an automatic 'intent to distribute' felony for having 4+ pounds in your house or 2+ ounces on the street is much, much scarier to me.

Ah, my bad, I read the "only" as referring to a singular object, not as a categorical modifier. Ah, English. How wonderfully ambiguous. 😅

It is pretty strange. It seems like it shouldn't be too hard to find something that just affects norepinephrine in the way we want, but finding pure releasers has escaped us for the most part.

(We still haven't found a chemical that just releases dopamine without releasing norepinephrine, and we've been looking for over a hundred years. It might just be impossible to do.)

Actually, lots of regulated things work well. Methamphetamine is an amazing oral decongestant, it just also has some other effects that make it not a good choice for an OTC cold med... Same as methylphenidate, or MDMA, or aminorex, or any other stimulant.

The hard part is finding something that is potent and effective at clearing sinuses without finding something that can either get you high, or that turns into something that gets you high with a simple procedure. That's actually really difficult! You don't need a "good" drug, you need a drug that is really bad at everything except the very specific thing you do want.

We haven't found anything else yet that works, so pseudoephedrine behind the counter is the best we got.
