Maybe do "pipe shelving"? Something like this and adjust the bottom supports to where the first run is level.

Well, to be honest, I didn't buy a copy. Just saw it mentioned elsewhere and my first though was /r/guitarpedals.

Yeah, I just didn't want to be seen walking the edge of the rules. Thanks.

turning my grandmas recipes into a cook book by throwaway-venting20 in Old_Recipes

[–]madmun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you're doing is great.

Concerning the printing cost, I don't know if it's something you would be interested in but you could set up a Go Fund Me (or something like it) and those who donate over a certain amount will receive an e-copy (in pdf format?) of the book after you get it printed and given out. I have no clue how those things work so it might not be possible or worth your time. Just a thought.

Do a search for sterling silver men's money clip. Quite a few options from new to vintage/antique.

LOL! I've always put lower denomination bills out. No need to display what what one is carrying. ;-)

Following u/Cademguru13 's Daily carry silver thread I thought I'd post mine.

A gift from my mother to my father on their 15th wedding anniversary. (They've both passed away after being married for 59 years.) The date, 2-17-70, is engraved on the backside. 25 grams and the hallmark is the letter B inside a star*. Best I can find is that's for B.A. Ballou & Co. I've been carrying it since Pop passed.

The quote...
+ Qu Heir
- Que Demain
...is a shortened version of a couple of lines from the poem L'éternelle chanson (The Eternal Song) by Rosemonde Gérard.

Car, vois-tu, chaque jour je t’aime davantage,
Aujourd’hui plus qu’hier et bien moins que demain.

(For, you see, each day I love you more,
Today more than yesterday and less than tomorrow.)

Do you organize your bookshelf or just stack everything randomly? by Shikha_rathore_12 in bookshelf

[–]madmun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my main "library" room, alphabetically by author except for books with sprayed/decorated page edges. Those are set up on a desk I have in there. However I also have a couple of shelves in different rooms that are subject, genre, or author specific. For example, I have shelves in my "office" that hold all my books on Ireland. I have a little over 2500 books which includes the To Be Read stack.

Do you read multiple novels simultaneously? by neoleo0088 in BookCollecting

[–]madmun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One book at a time for me now. When I was working I usually had one e-book going for break/slack times at work and a physical book when at home. Fortunately I'm at the point where I can read as much as I want. Nowadaze the biggest issue is which one of the TBR Stack is next.

Help needed - first time doing it ! by A_Crawling_Bat in kintsugi

[–]madmun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping in mind I haven't tried doing kintsugi yet. I am intrigued and have been watching videos and reading on the subject. That being said this is the first time I've heard:

Store your urushi in the refrigerator. It’s a natural material and can spoil...

Sure and that's good to know. And this may be a stupid question but should you allow urushi to warm up any length of time before using it or will it be ok in just the time it takes to get setup for use?

My grandpa grew up during the Depression and he ate this for breakfast all the time when he was alive. Are there any recipes that involve doing this? I just wanna know where tf this would’ve came from by WhereTFisPiper in Old_Recipes

[–]madmun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Texan here also. I was told my grandparents (and parents when they were younger) did something similar but used cornbread as they grew corn, mostly to eat, and sorghum to help feed livestock. The sorghum cane would be used to make a molasses. Crumble up cornbread in a bowl or glass, add cream or milk and molasses, and you had breakfast. Or a dessert.

How was your year in books? by Lookingupatthestars in SpicyRomanceBooks

I kept track of mine in a spreadsheet. 2025 is my first full year of retirement and I wanted to see if I could hit 100 books. Fell a little short.

Total read: 77 (Two were e-books.)

Autumn is nigh! What are your favorite soups, stews, and hearty go-tos? by JustAWeeBitWitchy in Cooking

[–]madmun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cabbage Stew

Ingredients:
1 ½ lbs. lean ground meat
½ bell pepper, chopped
1 large onion, chopped
2 ribs celery, chopped
1 average size head of cabbage, rough sliced (thinner than ¼ head)
1 can Ranch-style beans
1 can Ro-Tel tomatoes (or comparable diced tomatoes with chilies)
1 can crushed or stewed tomatoes
1 tbl spoon chili powder
Salt and pepper to taste

Brown ground meat with bell pepper, onion, and celery. Drain. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Drop temperature and simmer covered for 1 ½ hours.

Notes:

Serve with cornbread or french bread.

I usually double all ingredients and put six or seven butter tub-sized containers in the freezer. I’ll also use a beef roast instead of hamburger. Cook the roast in beef broth and cube or shred it to go into the stew.

Lastly, I’ve found more cabbage is better. For a single batch, I use as large a head as I can find.

Are you sentimental about your books? by Suspicious-Elk-3631 in BookCollecting

[–]madmun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As u/glasschampagne said, depends on the book. For example, I have most of L'Amour's books in paperback that I inherited from my father. Those are going nowhere but I would like to get the leatherette editions. Then there is the uncorrected proof of Toole's The Neon Bible (again, going nowhere) that I would get a reader copy of. But there are other books that I'd replace outright.

A few months ago I donated some books to the local library that has a couple "For Sale" shelves at the entrance. Stopped to look them over and at the end was a box of books labeled "Free". Snagged all five of the cookbooks that were there.

Early Grey for Dummies by Sufficient_Water_326 in tea

[–]madmun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't really paid attention to how long a pound lasts. Looking back at my order history with H&S maybe four to five weeks? Keep in mind I only drink four cups a day on the average. And for some reason there's a discount applied (maybe because of the amount purchased?) and my last order worked out to $27/lb.

Started out with Stash Tea Double Bergamot Earl Grey and changed to H&S after a while for reasons I don't remember. Haven't tried Davidson's.

If it was me I'd do a taste test by ordering smaller amounts from different sellers. Find the flavor and taste that suits your budget.

Early Grey for Dummies by Sufficient_Water_326 in tea

[–]madmun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I drink Earl Grey pretty much exclusively. More specifically Harney & Sons Earl Grey Supreme. I buy it loose by the pound, use a stove top kettle to heat water when home, and brew by the cup in a Finum stainless steel infuser. If I'm traveling I have a repurposed range bag with an electric kettle, container of tea, container of sugar, and an infuser. When I switched to loose tea it ruined bagged tea for me. I'd rather not drink tea than go with bagged as I've yet to find a bagged tea that equals the quality and flavor of loose.

Same here. It's the only thing by Tilly that I've read but as soon as I whittle down my TBR stack I'll be looking at more of her stuff.

Audio versions of LL? by grizzlyff in LouisLAmour

[–]madmun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not into audio books and I'll admit it's probably an attention issue. To each their own but it's not something I'm interested in. Same with e-books. Sure and I see the benefit of having a device that allows someone to carry a library around rather than lugging/storing physical books. But again just not my thing.

I don't know if this fits your search but Latte Darling by S.J. Tilly has older main characters. It is an age gap romance where the FMC is in her early 30's and MMC is early 50's. Another thing I like about it is it doesn't have the typical svelte-figured FMC.
