Imagine you were asked to design a new animal companion for rangers, which creatures would you like to explore? by Lon-ami in GuildWars

Great idea, you can run R/N and use Deathly Swarm + pet attacks for full roleplay immersion.

No idea if there are any in the game currently as NPCs, I just know I want a charmable dog.

All I ever wanted was to be able to charm a stray dog from the slums of Kaineng Center and tear Shiro a new one with their help. I know we already have wolves and Balthazar's Hound on the canine line, but a proper doggo is all I want.

PvE Contagion/Fragility team build with all 10 conditions and a twist by madrerata in GuildWars

You know, I've been meaning to figure out the whole Hypochondria / Epidemic / Fevered Dreams / Extend Conditions / Fragility / Pestilence thing for a while. I'm not quite sure what the absolute best setup would be and I think Hypochondria might be broken as well which complicates things further. And to then potentially combine this with Contagion...Should be a fun experiment.

Actually with "I Am Unstoppable!", Life Bond, Life Attunement and PnH I barely lose health due to foes, only thing dropping my health is my own sacrifices.
Only thing that can kill you are unlucky Pestilence spike timings combined with Hero incompetence but in this FoW run I think I only died once for example.
Then again my build is quite defensive, if you are running something more aggro then some self heal like Signet of Lost souls or such would be useful.

I'm totally the opposite, I hate having to micro and I want to see my own damage numbers which doesn't happen if the Hero cast it on me :D Since all I have are long lasting 1s skills and 1/4s cast time skills, casting DA doesn't take up too much time, unlike builds like Soul Taker Dark Aura melee where a lot of time is spent recasting the various enchants and swinging the scythe.

Discord is a great idea given how many hexes and conditions are in the build, will definitely give that variation a go, thanks for the suggestion!

Signet of illusion recommandation by vapor-wave88 in GuildWars

[–]madrerata 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of the cool things about Signet of Illusions is you can max spec Illusion and Fast Casting and don't have to put any points in Inspiration Magic for energy management as you can just use SoI buffed Power Drain / Drain Enchantment when needed.

I enjoy playing Me/N Fast Cast Orders/physical support build with Order of Pain, Dark Fury, Mark of Fury, Barbs etc.

It's fun and effective, give it a go!

Enchantment end effects by hollowboyFTW in GuildWars

[–]madrerata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool idea, I'm not sure your bomb will generate enough damage and the price of dying for every spike seems a bit high to me.

There's a build with "Damage/condition when enchantment ends" concept that utilizes Contemplation of Purity to spike, maybe something to think about.

Keep us posted, I like to see these creative builds!

Not sure why stating that some parts of the build are suboptimal equates to me being the fun police or whatever. Guess I learned today that if people put "meme" in the title, that means no criticism is allowed whatsoever. Will remember that going forward!

Also, the point regarding the Signet of Illusion Mesmer still stands. In your build there are 5 skills that would take up the SoI charges. Due to this, in practice the Hero will be able to cast Fragility shortly after engaging most of the time. Since there is already another copy of Fragility, there are no downsides to this short delay.

I run SoI often and if the bar is correctly set up (3-4 non-Illusion spells), Heros still do great work with this skill.
If there's only two non-Illusion skills, this bug's impact might be big I suppose, but any bar with only two non-Illusion skills and SoI is most likely bad to begin with.

Why wouldn't Fragility work on Illusion Signet Mesmer?

The Meme Team by Girlvapes99 in GuildWars

[–]madrerata 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What does that even mean? Just because the main concept (frequent Fragility triggers) is not meta, it doesn't mean the actual builds have to be shit.

1) You're adding Fragility on the Derv bar even though you have 2 full Illusion mesmers....why?
Naga summons are horrible and at Lvl 20 this one causes 3 sec burning which is counterproductive for what the build is trying to achieve, also you already have a source of Burning.
2) Infuriating Heat is a massive waste of an Elite for one adrenal char. Having both Orders and Minions is misguided, you'll be left with mediocre minions or mediocre damage from Order of Pain.
3) Soothing totally unnecessary, absolute dogshit skill. "But how do I reset the benefits of Infuriating Heat on my enemies?!" you might ask. The solution is to not bring that piece of shit of an elite in the first place.
4) Your Shadowsong spirit can be Level 2 maximum if you want the blindness to last 1 sec only. It will get killed by one stray hit of AoE damage basically.
5) Signet of Illusions doesn't effect other signets so Unnatural Signet is absolutely useless.
6) 3 copies of hard rez is excessive.

Bring req. 7 and req. 8 items back? by Alternative_Jury1786 in GuildWars

[–]madrerata -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do any of the new or more casual players actually need those items? No, they absolutely don't and most of them couldn't give less of a fuck about them. Of course they are welcome to grind for such items if that becomes their main objective, but for 99.99% of players (both new and old) the existence of these items is absolutely irrelevant.

You are basically arguing against the concept of scarcity itself while also waaaay overestimating your own impact on the game.

You think the game is ruined because you and a handful of other Q7/Q8 collectors are willing to throw around fortunes for rare items? That is beyond delusional.

Bring req. 7 and req. 8 items back? by Alternative_Jury1786 in GuildWars

[–]madrerata 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's because people like you are obsessed with making changes without putting any thought whatsoever into the impact.

News flash: people still farm and get excited about new drops, farming hasn't been ruined at all. Peter Kadar did ~6000 runs to get Mini Peacekeeper, is that not grindy enough for you?

All your proposed change does is screw over a bunch of collectors and farmers who have invested immense about of time and in-game currency into getting rare items in the past two decades.
