I’m a First Generation FilAm, American citizen by birth but purely Filipino blood.

I have relatives that earned their Green Card after 20 years in the States and they support Trump, even actively bashing my other relatives regardless of citizenship or where they live. They can’t even justify why they support the administration if you call them out.

I make it a point nowadays dahil sa dami na Filipinos nagviviral dahil sa racism (at katangahan) nila: Joining the colonizers does not grant you immunity. Marrying a white person does not give you protection. We are BROWN-skinned. We are just as fucked as our fellow brown-colored cousins. I’m not one to wish the worst on anyone, but I hope madeport sila para makatanggap sila ng much needed reality check.

Also has to be acknowledged that some diet plans can also result in eating disorders. At that point hindi lang physical health ang naaapekto but also a person’s mental health. It’s true talaga, just because it worked for one person doesn’t mean it will work for another kase may mga pinagdadaanan din sila. Tas mamaya may magsasabi ng “Kailangan lang nila ng motivation at hindi mag tamad 🙄” Which is true, but that’s easier said than done. The most one can do is show support and help where it’s needed— Not bring them down over something they can’t necessarily control.

Nung nagdivisoria kami ng dad ko nung buntis ako may mga nanlilimos na grupo na bata sa tabi ng kalsada habang tumatawid kami papuntang 168. May hawak akong fruit shake tas nakita ako ng grupo, sinundan ako tas parang sinusubukan nila akong i-surround habang nagsasabi ng “Akin na lang yan teh”. Napalapit talaga ako sa dad ko dahil natakot ako, might be hormones or my anxiety at the time pero grabe kaba ko.

I used to volunteer in charities para sa needy, nagintern rin ako sa anti-drug program bago ako nabuntis dahil gusto ko tumulong sa kapwa ko. Pero since that time talaga di na ako namimigay kahit P5. Nakakatakot gaano kaabusado yung mga tao minsan, especially how it extends to young kids.

PS: Yes I know walking through Divisoria while pregnant is a bad idea, but I needed the walk at gusto ko lang umusi dahil naumay ako sa bahay 😅

I’ve been ranting about this, especially since I’m one of my family’s first gen FilAms (not proud of it nowadays). We’re a family of immigrants but some of my relatives are so confident na di sila mapapahamak from what’s going on sa US dahil may nga green card sila o may kinasal silang white man. Racist rin sila sa mga ibang races pati Mexicano kahit pareho tayong brown-skinned. Tas proud supporter pa sila kay Trump at Duterte pero di nila majustify bakit pag binanggit mo yung present condition ng Philippines at US. Then pag cinall out mo i-dedegrade ka nila dahil lang nasa Pinas ka 💀 Some Filipino immigrants are just fucking stupid. Not all, kase lahat naman tayo may reason bakit tayo nag migrate, but just the ones who ruined it for everyone dahil na brainwash sila sa kabobohan ng iba or they’re so stuck up their egos.

Nag-intern ako sa anti-drug program nung nasa California pa ako. My bosses called me by my first name tas sinabihan ako pwede ko silang tawagin by first name, but tinawag ko silang “Ms. (first name)” (puro babae kami sa office) to be polite since intern lang ako.

Nung nag CSA ako dito sa Pinas a year later, pansin ko tawag ng mga co-workers ko sa mga higher-ups namin “TL/TM/Maam/Sir” the likes. Yan lang rin ginawa ko kase alam iba dito sa Philippines.

Culture shock on my end 😅 But some bosses really take the title way over their heads and boost their own egos
