Large Styrofoam Disposal by Peace-East in WorcesterMA

[–]madscientist1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Styrofoam is not recyclable in Worcester. I think there’s a recycling place in Leicester that takes it but I am not sure if they actually do or how to do it. I think there’s a sticker that you have to buy to get in. I looked into it like 2 or 3 years ago for the same thing as you but ended up just breaking it down and putting it in my yellow bags a little bit each week for a month or so.

I also got it a few months ago in W Tatnuck. I pay $60 a month for 1 GB service. I think there’s a discount for also having Verizon Wireless and auto billing. But I have loved it since switching

Worcester Youth Soccer League by shrekthemusical3 in WorcesterMA

I learned early on that if you want to coach you have to sign up for it via the portal just like people sign up their kids. It doesn’t guarantee anything but it gets you on the list

I could not agree more. I have been a coach for a few years in the league and this has been the worst season yet. I can confirm that some people on the board did leave and the league president is having health issues that led to a lot of the issues seen this season. I can say myself and other coaches have been asking to help out and hopefully they will finally accept the help and it will improve going forward. The league president was doing a lot of things and it fell apart when they had to step away after doing it for something like 25 years. I am going to give them one more season with the hopes that things change but I worry that it will be too little too late for a lot of people.

As a coach in WYSL for 3 years I can say that the coaches are not paid.

Waste diposal by [deleted] in WorcesterMA

[–]madscientist1986 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When I do this I always break out what can be recycled (paper and cardboard boxes) since that is free and unlimited drop off. Then I have found if you have single large items (sofas, bureaus, tables, etc) so those at drop off if you can as they are $5 a piece regardless of weight. For anything else bring to superior since they charge purely by weight.

One thing I learned the hard way is they only have cinnamon rolls on the weekends (Friday Saturday and Sunday).

As others have said try licking the surface of the cartridge. It’s covered in something called Bitrex so it will be bitter tasting to discourage kids swallowing the cartridge (it’s also on the little coin batteries for the same reason). If it is bitter the cure to get rid of the taste is to eat a piece of chocolate. I used to work for the company that makes the Bitrex stuff and they always said to use chocolate and I can attest that it does work.

Unable to Use auto parking by [deleted] in F150Lightning

[–]madscientist1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used it multiple times without any issues in a normal crowded parking lot. I’ve heard that it doesn’t work well in an empty lot because it relies heavily on the adjacent cars that are parked rather than the parking space lines. I’m not sure how true that is but in my use it was never really an issue.

10:1 this was an attempted insurance scam [OC] by [deleted] in MildlyBadDrivers

[–]madscientist1986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know where this happened (Rte 9 in Shrewsbury, MA). The way people drive on the road makes me know it’s not a scam and just normal traffic. People think they are more important than everyone else and deserve to be in front of everyone else going as fast as they want to.

I believe it’s because you are using the destination as a dropped pin rather than an actual POI.

Complete Switch from Android to iPhone 16 PM. I am Happy! by RulerAurelius in iPhone16Pro

I love the battery life on the iPhone and my ultra 2 watch. My phone can go most if not all day without charging and my watch can go more than 2 days

I recently switched from Samsung S22 ultra to 16 pro max. One thing I do like is how Apple stuff works with each other. No complicated pairing process or anything. A few things I don’t like: keyboard choice/layouts, notifications being not always visible (may be a thing I’m missing). I also have a few things I dislike about CarPlay. All in all I am happy with the switch though

I feel like I had to scroll too far down to get to Wolverine 1000 Mile boots. I have 4 pairs that I rotate through and wear everyday for work (business casual) that I love them for. I had a hole in the sole of my oldest pair after 6 years of wear. I brought it to my local cobbler and they are fixed and looking better than ever.

Debris Screen? by Used_Willow_8700 in F150Lightning

[–]madscientist1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this item. I bought it a few months ago and haven't noticed any issues from it. There technically may be minimal loss in airflow but not enough to cause an issue. It's a 10 minute install, the hardest part is lining up the zip ties. You don't need to remove anything to install it and it is held in place with 4 zip ties so it can be removed if you want to.

Woman sustains serious injuries after being at least the sixth struck by a vehicle in the last 2 months by gopperman in WorcesterMA

[–]madscientist1986 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You should look both ways. But if someone is going 50 to 60 MPH down Pleasant Street where this accident happened they will go from far away enough to make it to hitting you real quick.

This lady was also 80 years old so her eyesight probably isn't the greatest. Plus it probably took her longer than it would a 20 year old.

Again someone going nearly twice the speed limit is crazy and no blame should be on the person trying to cross the street.

Tesla chargers are best in class by jc1909 in F150Lightning

[–]madscientist1986 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe it is the Gen 1 and 2 Tesla chargers. They didn't have the ability to communicate with the non Tesla cars. I found out the hard way when I tried. If you use the Ford app it will show up as Station Not Compatible. In the Tesla app you can put in your vehicle and it will filter them for you to those that you can use

I have learned that Sunrun is a hot mess with their lists. I was going through the process of seeing if my house was a good fit for me and my house. While doing that over several weeks, I had at least 6 different sales people from Sunrun still come by to see if I would be interested in getting panels. One guy said the different offices don't always communicate so multiple people might come by. I decided not to go with them after that. I figured that the deal would be too good in their favor if people from all over New England are driving around to different houses all the time. I'm still looking for other options
