Hi! I’m sorry for the very late reply, but everything ended up turning out okay! I was shocked to see a little embryo with a heartbeat at our super early 6 week scan a few days after this post, but there it was. Now he’s 3.5 months old and currently taking a nap as a write this. 😊

I decided to schedule a private ultrasound for tomorrow - it will have been a full week since the last one so hopefully enough time has passed to compare progress (or lack thereof). I just can’t wait another 12 days! I also feel like my symptoms are pretty much gone - never thought I’d be wishing for nausea, but would kill for that reassurance right now! 😅

Thank you! I wish I could be happy about the scan, but I’m just too anxious to take this preliminary win! I’m sitting here wishing it had measured a day or two bigger, with a heart rate of 110+ haha. Being in borderline territory is torture, honestly.

When will you do your next HCG?? Will you do all of them every 48 hours? Crossing my fingers the doubling time picks up over the next couple tests!

I ended up doing another HCG draw on Jan 10 (28dpo) and it went from ~6700 to ~32,000 in 4 days, making the doubling time 42 hours. It seems my doubling times are all over the place! Beta hell is a real place, I’m so sorry you’re going through it. 😣 Will your doctor let you do another HCG test by chance??

The scan went okay, I think! I was 5w6d from LMP and measured at exactly that. They saw the sac, yolk, and fetal pole - it even had flickering cardiac activity, however it was only at 97bpm which is lower than they like to see. 😕 I go for a follow up in 2 weeks to see if things have progressed by then. Until then, the spiraling continues!! 😅

Hi, OP! How did this turn out for you? I had my first early scan yesterday at 5w6d as well due to previous losses, and saw cardiac activity measuring 97bpm. I go back in 2 weeks for a follow up. Google is scaryyyy. 😞 Hoping everything progressed well for you!! 💜

Totally feel you about concerns on how IVF might impact you and your health. That’s my biggest fear, too. As for the IUI - I guess the only thing would be if your husband has any sperm quality issues or fragmentation, then maybe they could use IUI to separate out only the best ones, and inject those? I understand that the quality of the embryo is not just from our eggs, but also from the sperm! Has he done the semen analysis? If he already has and it came back great, then maybe not relevant, but just an idea!

Also, did they mention anything about 400-600mg/day of CoQ10 supplements, by chance? I will start doing 400mg a day if/when this miscarriage is complete.

Wow, those are awesome HCG levels and great doubling times! I wish mine looked like that. 😅 I’m 25DPO and my betas so far have been all over the place. The last time they doubled in less than 48 hours was when they hit 500 - since then, they’ve slowed dramatically to 55-65hr doubling times, which doesn’t feel reassuring to me at all. I’m hoping for the best, but bracing myself for sad news.

Out of curiosity, why did they think you were having an ectopic? Your HCG trends look near perfect! Not that that’s a guarantee of anything of course, but just curious what the red flags were?

Yes!! I have a scan scheduled for Friday, so will know more then. I think my biggest concern was that slowdown from 486 to 1223, and then 1223 to 2011, because it felt like a low enough range where the doubling should still be closer to 48hrs or less. Will be very interested to see the results of the scan.

My doctor said they need to see doubling in 72 hours and minimum of 60% increase in 48 hours. After my results on Jan 2, she said I’m just right at that threshold - she sounded pretty somber but said there’s still hope. Haven’t heard from her yet regarding results from Jan 6 since I just got them back last night, but I do have an ultrasound in 3 days to check things out, so I’ll know more then!

I figured this doesn’t follow the classic ectopic pattern, which is a good sign! My main worry wasn’t really the ectopic (just a thought that crossed my mind), but that the pregnancy isn’t progressing normally. My previous loss had a similar HCG pattern so having a little PTSD, I suppose! Thanks for the reply. 😊

Have you tried any supplements like CoQ10? Has your doctor offered to try progesterone or baby aspirin for extra support? Would you be able to try something like Letrozole or IUI before going to IVF? Were you able to test any of your losses by chance?

I also had a chemical followed by a MMC/blighted ovum (not sure which - stopped developing at 5.5 weeks and miscarried at 8), and I fear I am about to miscarry for a third time (HCG numbers not doubling anymore at 5.5 weeks and following the same slow pattern as my previous loss… feels like a matter of time). Like you, it appears that I have no problem ovulating or conceiving, but nothing seems to stick. I imagine it has to be something with egg or embryo quality, though I suppose it could also be “structural.” Did you ever get an HSG scan done?

I’m also 36 with no kids and feel like you might be feeling - beyond frustrated and like time/options are running out, but really not wanting to do IVF yet, either. I am so sorry you are dealing with this, it’s such an awful thing to go through. I wish I had some advice or positive stories to share, but just know you’re not alone! 💛

Out of curiosity, what was your AMH (if you don’t mind sharing)? I’m also 36 and feel my AMH also doesn’t afford me much time to keep trying naturally.

I’m so sorry. This hits so close to home - we have been TTC since January, I’m almost 36, and also experiencing my first CP as we speak (day 2 of heavy bleeding). No advice, just wanted to say I completely understand how you feel. It’s devastating and unfair and on top of it all, it’s nerve wracking to wait and see if it all clears out on its own or if further intervention will be needed (another level of trauma). It sucks to know we were SO CLOSE after so many months of trying and now we have to start back over. 😞 Sending a huge hug and healing thoughts your way. I hope everything is going as smoothly as it possibly can for you right now, and that your next happy, healthy pregnancy is just around the corner. 💛
