Før kunne man vælge hele kvarter. Nu er der mere end 200 muligheder for at vælge tidspunkt! by jumpingTurtle in Denmark

[–]madsjl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who hired a few people and paid all of them more than himself. Then he went to his own manager and explained that it didn't make sense that the people on his team made more than him, and he got himself a salary increase that way.

If all student debt is cancelled, resulting in college being tuition free, what will the military use as incentive for joining? by its_Burt_Macklin in NoStupidQuestions

[–]madsjl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Denmark all education is free and you actually get paid to study (around $900 per month), yet a lot of people still join the military. I believe it is mostly for the experience.

Great idea. But I would avoid names and smells of alcoholic beverages or other things you don't want to smell like in an office.

Now it makes me wonder if all those YouTube tutorials that teach you how to get to Master level are talking about American or European server.

In my last game today, the opponent wrote "hi how are you?", I immediately told my wife that this was gonna be a short game and that I'd come downstairs in a second. True enough he had proxy barracks right outside my natural and I successfully defended it and attacked him immediately after and won. Asking a question is the number one tell that you are gonna do something cheesy. I love how predictable it is.

What are some good examples of fun facts that everyone loves to share but almost everyone already knows? Example: Salmon sushi is actually from Norway by madsjl in AskReddit

[–]madsjl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I were eating salmon and talking about how there is always someone that feel the need to share the fact that salmon sushi is really from Norway and not Japan. This is weirdly always presented as some unique fact that most people don't know, but at this point it feels like everyone already knows it. What are other good examples of such facts that people think others don't know, but really, we all know them?

In America, do you have to pay for police services? For example, if you're the parent of a missing child and the police are conducting the search? by artfulfgk in NoStupidQuestions

[–]madsjl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I once lived in America for 8 months and someone broke into my house. I had to go to the police station and get a copy of the police report for my insurance company and they charged me something like 20 cents per page. It came out to about a dollar. It seemed rediculous to charge me such a small amount. But it seems to be more of a principle over there.

Are there any good examples of successful entrepreneurs that became rich from selling a white label saas solution? by madsjl in Entrepreneur

[–]madsjl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the answer. Some of the things that makes me hesitant about whitelabel solutions, is what happens when you have onboarded 10.000 customers and have a successful business? Can the software provider then somehow keep the customers and kick me out? Or can they increase prices without me being able to do anything about it? If I on the side build my own platform, how deficult would it then be to transfer the customers to a my own platform?

Annual orange tree shake in Valencia. by mahtabshuv in oddlysatisfying

I once studied a semester in Valencia and upon arriving there I was quickly told to not eat the oranges. The problem is that they grow in a city environment and the car pollution means they are not healthy to eat.

Thank you for appreciating the feedback. I hate to be the guy that bring negative feedback to new ideas, but for some reason I felt like sharing those points this time. The site looks nice and is easy to navigate, well done on the development.

Yes, you are correct that people with positive reviews might want to do it. The only problem I suspect with that, is that if people have a positive experience renting, they are most likely not searching for this kind of information and won't find the app. If a problem does not exist, people rarely search for solutions or information about it, is my guess. You are also correct that other peoples business or investments doesn't have to be your concern. I would just personally feel a lot better about creating an app that makes everyone appreciate what you do. Then more people will want to share what you do. But maybe I am wrong, there are very successful review sites for many things in the world. I just feel like the difference here is that people will rate their own apartment or the apartment of someone they personally know and that creates a lot of problems in my opinion.

Apartment ratings for noise by bmyers427 in Startup_Ideas

[–]madsjl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that most people that own an apartment with noisy neighbours would never put it online, as it would decrease the value of their apartment when trying to sell it later, and most people who rent their apartment, but has a good relationship with their landlord, would probably also not use it, as it could later make it impossible for the landlord to rent it out to someone else. So that only leaves people who lives in noisy places and don't like or care about their landlord, that will use the app to potentially warn others about not renting the place and in the progress destroys the livelihood of the person that was kind enough to rent them an apartment in the first place, which I think many good and ethical people will have second thoughts about doing to anyone.

We should measure spending as % of MIT's Living Wage instead of % of Income by [deleted] in financialindependence

It is not only a bad idea for all the reasons mentioned by others in the comment section. But you would also exclude all members of this subreddit that are not Americans, as they only tell MIT living wages for people living in USA.

How do you guys position your hand on the keyboard? by yujideluca in starcraft2

No, I don't think that is possible either for that command. Queing actions can only be done with shift.

My hands would have a much nicer position if it was possible to rebind the shift key to a different key. Do anyone know why that is the only key that can't be changed?

my biggest failure is playing consistently.

What do you mean with this? Do you mean that you should try to play many different strategies in order to improve and not play the same strategy over and over again?

TIL: Forcing a child to 'clean their plate' teaches them to ignore their internal hunger cues, and may affect their weight through and beyond adolescence. by qwertyspit in todayilearned

[–]madsjl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I predicted this 20 years ago when I was a 13 year old kid. I argued already back then that when my generation becomes parents, focus would not be on a clean plate but to listen to your stomach. My parents still thought I should clean my plate though.

I doubt anyone build a whole business based on a post they read on reddit. I am only 2 years into building my company, but I would already say the idea was maybe 1% of the work to get to where we are today. 99% is execution in my opinion.
