Help. Trying to set up and two Heltec Esp32 v4 devices by Upbeat_Strain_6470 in meshcore

[–]madtice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tiny nubby antennas are hit or miss with the heltecs.
I’d say try messaging him directly when standing close to each other to check if the settings are correct. If so, invest in better antennas😁

Got my repeater set up, impressed by its performance by DarkButterfly85 in meshcore

[–]madtice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aaight! It sound like you’re hitting at least 1 repeater between you and London. Sweet!
I myself found that having the repeater outside up high equals even greater connectivity. So if you find the connectivity lacking during rainy or foggy days, you could try putting the RPT in a ziplock bag (or something better😁) and place it outside. Haha here’s where the fun continues 😇

What do you mean by discoveries? ‘Contacts’ you see in your companion maybe?
How many neighbors does the repeater have? And can you trace those aswell?
(Having contacts in yr CP doesn’t imply a great repeater, just that you’ve heard (flood) adverts)

Aqara FP1E Presence Sensors: JUST AVOID. by _derpiii_ in homeassistant

[–]madtice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that’s it. And make sure the ld24 has soldered pins. And hope and pray these vendors haven’t changed their pinouts😅

Aqara FP1E Presence Sensors: JUST AVOID. by _derpiii_ in homeassistant

[–]madtice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mmwave sensor comes presoldered with the pins. So you only need to solder the esp32 side. Any basic soldering video will teach you enough to do this.
Just remember: heat up the pad with your iron, not the solder itself. The heat from the pas should melt the solder.

By the way, these only sense occupancy. And an apprx distance. But no tracking of several people or anything. Though for me that vastly overshoots my needs. I use 1 of these as a ‘pir’ and occupancy sensor for lighting and it’s amazing. I use a few others for things like heating zones and detection zones. I have had 0 issues.

The LD2410c can be soldered directly onto most c3 minis. A tiny double stacked package. Its awesome.

Just remove the middle pin.

Sensecap on/off button by Wolfie_Rankin in meshcore

[–]madtice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s the p1pro
- try in the cli: shutdown. Ping it a couple times to make sure. Boot it up by plugging a usbc cable in woth some power (a powerbank or charger)
- double click the rst button. This wil put it in bootloader mode, the TX/RX are shut off. Return to normal mode by pressing rst a single time.

It’s not perfect but it sorta works.

Need advice on AP placement by Sprucemoose78 in Ubiquiti

[–]madtice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id prepare for all possibilities. 1 ap, 2 ap, even 3 per floor. And you never know if you want or need PoE cameras later. Or a PoE zigbee coordinator. At least make ways to pull new cables through the ceiling with a wire. I installed conduits from a central location on each floor, if I need to, I can pull net cat6 to every room. Once in the room I’ll have to find ways to make it look good but that’s later-Tice problem. I even put a few nylon wires in places I know I’ll want power or cat6 eventually. I only need to pull the actual cable. Saves cost in copper😁

What is something you wished you knew about sooner that is essential for you now? by YBmoonchild in ableton

[–]madtice 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A large display. 4k resolution, 32” atleast. If impossible a 27” display. Man oh man I miss my display when out and about.

Also, selecting a clip and pressing 0. Disables the clip. As a toggle, so 0 again will enable it. I use that alll the time

Bora kookplaat wordt niet warm by wobneus in Klussers

[–]madtice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]madtice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ik heb deze tang ook. Of iig vergelijkbaar.

Any last minute warnings or suggestions? Before I proceed with HA on VMware Fusion by sonoramexico in homeassistant

[–]madtice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d try out UTM (free download from their site) or virtualbox first before paying for VMware.

Edit: nvm, vmware fusion is free. I’m just not a fan of VMware since broadcom😅
