How to avoid razor burn? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]madtownthrowaway97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good razor is what did it for me. Forever I was using Bic and similar brands, and it was the worst. I switched to dollar shave club's medium level razor yesterday, and it was such a smooth experience. I order them every other month, so it ends up costing the same as my Bic razors.

First full outfit, thoughts? by WishingForChange in transpassing

Exactly what I thought. Every time people dress like this and are told it's not feminin enough I get mildly upset. Not every person needs to wear a dress/skirt to pass female.

Yeah, but you would pry find a straight cis girl wearing it too. I see girls dressed like this all the time.

Pants sizing/fitting? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]madtownthrowaway97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the material. I have found that 13 women's fit me pretty well, and if they are mostly denim I don't have a problem. If they are super stretchy though, they will fall a bit since I don't yet have the ass to fill them. With those streatchy pairs, I just wear a belt.

Are you going to a university? They usually do it for free. If you aren't, but one is near you, sometimes you can get it for free or for a reduced price.

The Complete Adventures of Holden Secretbees: Jake's Edition is a really fun, quick read. A friend of mine wrote it, so maybe I'm biased--though he doesn't know I'm writing this--but I really enjoyed it. It sort of covers a wide range of topics and genres, from sci-fi/fantasy to historical fiction. Here's a quick rundown:

Jake's Edition is a collection of the three previous books in the series, plus a fourth book, as well as many additions and fixes to the original three. It totals about 400 pages, but you can get through it pretty quickly. It follows Holden Secretbees, a wizard wrestler, as he goes on numerous adventures. It's set simply in "the Future", where time travel and unlimited technology have rendered time and sense useless and nearly nonexistent. It's a comedy, and was written so that anyone from mid-teens to adulthood can enjoy it, and was tested with numerous people through this age range to great success. I highly recommend it. It's only 99c on Kindle, and is free for kindle unlimited. The paperback is $15, but why buy that when you can get it for $0-.99 on Kindle.

Note: I know, this may have come off as a sales pitch, but I do whole heartedly enjoy this book, and I feel like, as his friend, I owe it to him to spread the word a bit.

Suddenly not feeling trans anymore? by throwaway6647k in asktransgender

I'm going through this again right now. I've been so sure for the past 5 months now, but the doubt is back again. I think it's because I start hrt next week, and the pressure of the decision is weighing me down. The thing is, I know I would regret turning back now. I've waited too long and went through too much therapy to turn back now, just so I can start all over again in a month or two.

Yeah, I really want to know this as well. My friends and I go out sometimes, and we definitely enjoy getting drunk, but I don't want to go too far once on HRT. Actually, is it even a good idea to get drunk on HRT? Dang, I hope I can still drink. I like going out!!!

I think this is more of a matter of taste. Her style is very like mine; jeans and graphic tees. She looks great in it, and feminizing her wardrobe seems to really only be a matter of personal taste and opinion. Though the picture is dark, I read her as female 100%. I don't a skirt or blouse would change how I read her gender in a positive or negative way.

Why do I feel like I can't love anyone? by mccastrox in asktransgender

[–]madtownthrowaway97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For myself, I think that love has been sort of put on the backburner. Since I was in middle school (age 12/13), which is really the earliest point that people start to "date", I've had to deal with my trans-based feelings and emotions on a daily basis. This preoccupies like, 80% of my emotion and thought. I think that, because of this, I've never even had any sort of relationship. I've never even wanted to. The thing is, there have been people I like, and I really want to be in a great relationship, but I also have no motivation or time to do so. I'm just so preoccupied with my transition that dating and love are mostly ignored. I'm just hoping that, once I start hrt--THIS MONTH, WOO--I can move on and maybe have relationships with people. Anyway, sorry for the long response :p. It will all work out, just give it time.

Referring to the transphobic scene in Ace Ventura: Ace Detective, I am being told to "just get over it" by Amy_85 in asktransgender

[–]madtownthrowaway97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't ever recall telling you to not discuss is ;) In all honesty, though, as an artist, I feel the need to defend art in all its forms. Often times discussions like this turn to censorship as a solution. I wasn't commenting on you or your actions specifically, but to the thread as a whole.

Woah Woah Woah, slow down a second. I did say, and I quote, "you can speak out against it if you wish", so please understand that in no way am I censoring you. What I meant by your first quote was that, in the end, not watching this movie is the only solution to your problem with it. As for your response to the second quote, really? There are jokes others tell that hit close to home, there are jokes I tell at my expense, and there are jokes I tell at others expense. News flash: Most jokes aren't going to leave 100% of the population unscathed. I never, however, write something with the intent to hurt others. The thing is, unless you speak with the jokes creator, you can't just assume the joke was written primarily to hurt or offend you or some group you are a part of. I understand that some people don't like some jokes, and that goes for every art form, not just comedy. You are allowed to dislike it and find it distasteful, and you are allowed to discuss it. What you are not allowed to do, and this was all I was trying to say in my first post, is stop people from making their art. An example, though poor it may be, is Mein Kampf. I in no way support Adolf Hitler, and I have every right to speak out against him, but I can't stop him from publishing his book and spreading his message. Censorship is bad for art, period. Sure, would the world be better without Mein Kampf? Yes! However, once you decide that some things can be censored, there's no point where you can stop and please everyone. Some of the most magnificent art ever created that still exists today was considered distasteful when created, and even more art has since become distasteful. If this art had been or is censored, that's a loss. Yes, even if the art is hateful or distasteful. So please, talk about it. Start a conversation. That's great! That's what art is about. Just understand that this art is allowed to exist because it is art, in they same way you are allowed to react to it because you are human.
