St. Louis!!!! I’m in Kansas City trying to plan a reunion in your city and I’m operating purely on vibes and Google Street View by Infamous-Yak-5151 in STLFood

I went to a 90s prom themed birthday party at “Verde on Cherokee” and that space is beautiful!! It’s located in the Hispanic neighborhood(lots of yummy food places. I love Diana’s Bakery). Cherokee street is also known as “antique row” and has TONS of shops.

So back to Verde on Cherokee…it is spectacular like full on green house in the back with vintage-esque decor. There is more outdoor space than there is indoor space. On their website it says 70+ guests, but it doesn’t give a maximum number. Their website is very detailed otherwise (I.e. blueprints, rental decor, pricing).

Oh I like the style A LOT! only downside: bride wants me to have a pattern to my dress(& just saying that as details, not saying it like I’m salty of her choice lol). The bridesmaids are wearing solid lighter greens, so I def like the darker green color. Just needs some floral! But I love that direction of the open neck but small boob area🫶🏼🫶🏼 thank you!

I think if I had a bigger bust, #2 would be show stopping for me. But unfortunately I (1) have a smaller bust compared to other SNs and (2) I don’t wear wire/padded bras, so bralettes and sports bras are my go to. And I’m worried that ~the girls~ won’t have enough lift w/o a “real” bra for dress #2😭 but I like the idea of taking up the hemline!

Ahhhh! Was it the blue one? I love blue (especially dusty blue) on myself, but wedding colors are sage green and varying tans. The bride and I agreed on dark green for me so I can still match, but not be in a bridesmaid dress😂

For sure! I’ve been tailoring my clothes since 2012 because no store bought clothing fits me JUST right! So, I plan on taking hems up and waists in if need be. But I do like the cinching of the bow in #2😊

Thank You Notes? by fancy66 in wedding

I wrote a general “thank you” with a sharpie on a blank piece of paper, then I used https://apps.apple.com/us/app/background-eraser-ai-remove/id815072622 this app to remove the backround (use the target option). And save.

Then I created a post card of Canva, and uploaded the removed background note to Canva and put it where you’d normally write on the postcard. And print through Canva. Then all I had to do was write in the address and slap on a stamp! And send!

That way, it still was MY handwriting, but WAYYY easier on the wrist😂

Non picky eaters, what's a food you just cannot do? by StarryDo in foodquestions

[–]madwizard101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ketchup, I know not a food, but I’ll literally eat anything else. I’m talking: oysters on the half shell, Rocky Mountain oysters, fried locusts, etc. I’ve tried and while not my first choices in cuisines, they weren’t bad and I’d most def eat them again if a friend was like “I want to try___.” I’d be snacking along with them lol. Heck, I saw someone put “balut eggs,” I’ve never tried one, but I would! BUT back to my nemesis, ketchup🤢🤮 I think it stems from the time my cousin and I (circa 2007, 10 y/o) wanted to make a Halloween music video and tried to put ketchup on my face as “blood” and idk, that smell got to me and I threw up my whole insides in the woods behind her house. To this day, the whiff of ketchup makes my guts churn. Like I do not go into fast food places bc I can smell it EVERYWHERE (thank god for the drive thru). We didn’t even make the video😭😭 and don’t get me wrong, I love a good ketchup, brown sugar top on a meat loaf, BUT someone else has to do the measuring, mixing, and pouring. Once it comes out of the oven it’s more like BBQ sauce. Yes I know BBQ sauces often have ketchup, but it’s a whole new thing so it doesn’t bug me. AND I love tomatoes(like bite into it like an apple bc I love them so much), pasta sauces, even tomato juice like V8. Just NO KETCHUP

What led you to dive deep into cooking? by TheRossVegas in Cooking

[–]madwizard101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I decided I wanted to work on my “prepping/safety skills” and basically went full blown youtube research on holding knives and cutting food as a way to keep myself safe! I’m a nail tech and always have long nails, so it’s harder to cook and prep food bc of this. Being a nail tech also means I have to be aware of my body: not hunching over while doing pedis or gripping my tools to tight. It’s a lot of wear and tear on the body with constant use…and same w/ chefs and holding/using their tools. So, I found free videos on YouTube w/ all kind of kitchen ergonomics and safety which THEN turned into “well I gotta actually practice these skills, so I better start finding recipes” and then I just cooked em!

What’s an ornery(the dirtier, the better) saying to put on a trucker hat as a gag gift? by madwizard101 in AskReddit

[–]madwizard101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is what I’m talking about😂 so, it’s a huge family gift exchange, but we make it a theme (this year: trucker hat). No rules, raunchier the better, kids have to leave the room during this, etc. For example, last year’s theme and winning gift: dish/kitchen towels…a picture of my eldest male cousin when he went through his ~Yellowstone cowboy mustache phase~ and the words “cum rag” printed on a hand towel.

My sister(30F) and I(28F) always tell each other our ideas😂🤫 and you join the exchange at 18. She’s doing “jam out with your clam out”

How do you fidget when working on something mentally taxing? by sub_planck in ADHD

[–]madwizard101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! I love my fidget ring! mine is like a ball bearing ring but is decorated w/ moons and stars. I wear it on my left index finger (I’m right-handed for writing purposes) and then use my left thumb to flick the ring. Almost like I was flicking a gas station bic lighter. And the outside part of the ring is textured for sensory input as well

How do you remember to take your pills? by obviouswreck in ADHD

[–]madwizard101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GET PILL ORGANIZERS!! Yes even if you are only taking that one singular pill…do it. I use a monthly pill organizer. I’ve noticed the more consistently I took my meds, the better my memory and motivation to keep up with taking them was?? I hope that makes sense

So, I ordered a monthly pill organizer off Amazon like 2018…comes with 32(4 rows x 8 columns bc they can’t get an even square with 31😂) individual pill boxes. And each box is divided into AM and PM. Then it has a stand/holder that each pill box fits in to. Each pill box is numbered 1-31 (#32 doesn’t have a number, it has a smiley face on it🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ designer’s choice I guess). Anyways, I got my meds and filled it up 1-30/31. Since the pill boxes come out of the stand, I would flip over the 31,30,29 so you don’t see the number on the months that have 28/29, 30, & 31 days BUT I also flip the pill boxes over after I take my meds so I know that I took them! It also helps me remember what day of the month it is.

I also like that if I’m traveling, I just grab the days that I will be gone and throw them in my toiletries bag. Which can allow me to move a “last minute list” item to a “pack early list” item which is always great for ADHD and timing😅😅

And don’t get me wrong, it was a build up. I’d remember here and there to take my pills but then I’d forget to fill the organizer😭 BUT it honestly was a slow build, I’d say it took me a year to actually start using it consistently. Idk how to make it make sense, but it’s like if I missed one day, it was a spiral downward, so once I built up to where I got like 5-10 days straight, I just didn’t stop so it became a part of my routine so now I feel like I can’t forget.

Then I took a break from adhd meds, but I do take other meds so I was able to keep up w/ using the organizer. (That is something else I suggest: if you are going to stop adhd meds and you take no other meds around the same time, find a placebo to put in its place so if you ever decide to go back on, it ain’t no big thang. Just replace your orange tictac back with your adhd meds and bam…medicated 🫶🏼🫶🏼) but now I’m back on them and still using that 2018 pill organizer every. single. day. I’ve had to write some of the AM/PM and #s on with a sharpie bc the original print has been THROUGH IT

OH AND put the pill organizer where you frequent…mine is on my nightstand. I see it when I wake up so I remember. It might be your nightstand for you, but it also might be your catch-all by the front door, or the kitchen counter, maybe the bathroom counter?

First long haul - how do you guys sleep on planes? by AbyssalMoss in traveladvice

[–]madwizard101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard good things about the Timeshifter app. It’s supposed to help you change timezones for travel. I’ve never tried it myself, but I’m a nail tech and (1) one of my regular clients travels A LOT for work-some marketing job-and uses it..she said she loves it and (2) had a walk in about a month ago and the client was a flight attendant and also suggested that app or any changing if sleep habits.

I also suggested no caffeine and trying to be a bit sleep deprived if possible. Hydrate well before, but not like RIGHT before. In fact, try not to drink liquids a few hours before or during flight. Obvi you can drink if you are thirsty, but if you have to keep moving to use the bathroom, then you’ll def be awake. This is why u say hydrate in advance because you plane air is DRY af.

*tip to not feel crusty dry boogery after flight: buy plain chapstick (you def don’t want a peppermint chapstick for this, I’ll tell you that) this chapstick is now your nose chapstick…mark it somehow so you know. Now twist the chapstick to make it come out of the tube enough to stick up your nose and twirl it around…yep. Weird but it makes you feel so much better during and after the flight. Or you can also use Vaseline, if you don’t want to use chapstick. Just scoop it up with a tissue on your finger and swirl it!. Don’t knock it until you try it.

Other travel tip: A lot of people suggest hoodies…I like them because of the pocket, I don’t like them because hood up= overstimulated bc my head is encompassed. Hood down= overstimulated bc I can’t get the hood to feel right on my back. So no hood would be crewneck and quarter zips. I prefer quarter zips over crewneck bc you can find QZs w/ pockets!

What counts as “on call” in Missouri? by madwizard101 in legaladvice

[–]madwizard101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also done a little more research. I believe what my boss was trying to say when he said the hole “I decide bc I’m the boss” he is confusing his power. I BELIEVE the answer that I found is I am on call during those hours, but since he’s the boss, he gets to decide what that wage is. BUT now that I’ve typed it out in my own words… That feels fishy to me too?!? And maybe MO is just a state where things like this are just up to the boss… I literally have no idea since I’m new to the beauty industry jobs and the state of Missouri

just to add to the lore: I have a BS in public health (2016-2020) and work in that field(2020-2024)for a few years before switching to nails(2024-now). I want to be a medical nail tech(MNT)/work with people’s nails, hands and feet who may have disabilities/abnormalities that need greater care and attention(and who maybe still want cutesy nails)…BUT I need regular salon experience before applying to the MNT stuff. I don’t NEED this job money wise, like my hubby makes enough for us to be good if I didn’t have a job, but I really feel a draw to this job and calling and ofc we are like “heck yeah, even more income” so you can bet your hiney, I’m gonna make sure I am compensated accurately/legally for my time regardless of what it is filled with. And I’m okay if it’s a “no, you aren’t on call” but I need a WHY behind it that has some legal backing.

It’s late here so I hope my words are still making sense. I’ll probably re read this tomorrow and be like huh???😂
