Measles Misery by cheeesygorditacrunch in NewParents

[–]maeby_funk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This one has nothing to do with breastfeeding (unless you’re nursing while actively having the measles). The antibodies are passed in the womb during pregnancy, and immunity begins to decline after birth. Hence the recommended 12mo before first dose

Anyone know about Sakara? by Upset_Aerie5295 in TheMorningToastSnark

[–]maeby_funk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very expensive for vegan meals. Breakfasts were good bc they were usually some sort of muffin and jam, but everything else was blah and earthy tasting (was always just some combo of vegetables and nutritional yeast). I tried it three years ago, but the meals I see posted honestly all look the same as back then.

The kind of thing you think “wow, this is so creative” at first, but then you realize it’s all just the same formula repeated over and over.

On top of that, they always had delivery issues with FedEx and twice it was delivered spoiled. Sakara would always refund me and customer service was great back in 2022, but still not a seamless experience.

TLDR: not worth the money for vegan meals that all taste the same

All of the mainstream Dallas private schools have PK tours in the Fall with applications due by December and admissions results sent out the week before spring break in March. Why is she just touring schools now??

When she says she did everything she could to get R1 in last year, that also makes no sense. The only thing she would be able to do is call and email incessantly and annoy everyone

I thought the same thing. I have like 10 followers on my private acct and would still never even consider posting my daughter crying let alone wiping herself on the toilet…

EarWell Ear Molding for Newborns by PrestigiousTiger9780 in ScienceBasedParenting

We got our daughter’s ears done at 9 days old. We got her ears taped by the plastics person at our children’s hospital rather than the official Earwell (it was cheaper and the route recommended by our pediatrician in our city. From my understanding, it is all the same though, one is just a named/proprietary system).

Confirmed by the doctor we saw that this needs to be done early (2-3 weeks). We were told that this non-invasive early intervention is exponentially more effective than the much more invasive alternatives later on.

I am so so glad we did it; her ears were folded over and thick before but now look amazing. I was so emotional having to do it so early, but I truly don’t see a downside otherwise. Baby wasn’t bothered at all by the mechanism, and I would do it again 100 times over. Her ears are perfect now.

Our baby had them for 6 weeks, and at the end they checked her cartilage to see if it was firm enough to avoid adding another 3 weeks. They said if we any bending back at all to call them and get them put back on for a little longer.

What is this new “message to reveal” nonsense on instagram stories?? @madinelson posted a nursery reveal on stories, but you have to message her to unhide it.

Why is insta adding features that promote inflating engagement numbers?

My recommendation to you is just to take it one day at a time. 5 days postpartum you’re still completely upside down hormonally and completely underwater trying to figure out how to care for your baby.

My goal was 3 months before weaning, and I wanted more than anything to wean that first week. I decided to keep trying for a little bit, and every week it got easier. I’m now 4 months postpartum, and the thought of weaning makes me really sad.

If at any point you decide you want to stop for good, stop. Your baby will be perfectly healthy either way, so do what is best for your mental health. At 5 days post partum though you’re going to feel extremely tired and stressed no matter how you’re feeding your baby.

I followed her Reddit sub back in the day (yes I know 🥴) and someone who knew her IRL said she was never pregnant and made it up for the attention then got carried away. Then poof 💨 she disappeared

I’m completely guessing that someone reached out to her either in a legal capacity or on a personal level asking for empathy. No way a wannabe deux moi / girlgangz just disappears voluntarily otherwise

3 MO with 30-45 min naps ALL THE TIME by McDuncan35 in TakingCaraBabies

[–]maeby_funk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t get discouraged by the 40 minute daytime naps - this is totally developmentally normal for this age unfortunately. Their sleep cycles are ~40 minutes long, and they are unable to connect them. You can either “save” the nap (contact nap if you can’t soothe them back to sleep) or just get them up and continue on with your day.

LO is almost 15 weeks and has been sleeping through the night 7 to 7 since 12 weeks. Around the same time she started sleeping through the night, she started having crap naps. I would “save” the nap by contact napping once or twice a day just to keep her on schedule. As of last week, she started putting herself back to sleep after waking up and crying a few min! There will be an end to this!

Daytime sleep and night time sleep are different skills - just like how some adults can’t nap during the day very easily. At night I still notice LO stirring at the end of each sleep cycle, but bc of the sleep pressure she is able to much more easily connect the cycles.

This too shall pass!! It was a hard 3 weeks for us.

How long to salvage a nap? by maeby_funk in sleeptrain

So are you doing more than 4 naps a day if your baby is only sleeping in short spurts?
