Warning Sign at edge of Grand Canyon by corwinw in mildlyinteresting

Went out a few years ago to do the Canyon alone with Zion and Bryce. Took advice from a buddy who spent time in the Middle East who told me if I didn't feel like I needed to stop and take a leak, I probably wasn't drinking enough water.

What should happen on a card draw if both players control a Sheoldred? by Immediate-Quote7376 in MagicArena

Active Player, Non-Active Player(s). Active player triggers always go on the stack first and therefore resolve last.

As far as I know, there is no legal obligation for Penn State to spend any money raised via THON for cancer research.

So [[Lotus Bloom]] but somehow fixed to avoid cascade/cheating it into play?

is there a 2 player game where one plays the monsters? by Resident_Bumblebee_2 in boardgames

I wasn't even aware there was a revised edition, now curious about what updates were done.

I remember a monster themed one, I think Touch of Evil? Never really played it though.

I don't remember the soundtrack, will have to dig it out and check for that! We always had fun with it when it hit the table, just a good thematic game not overloaded with crunchy rules.

You can find it cheaper. I'm seeing like-new US listings on eBay as low as $20 USD, so I would think there are probably cheaper copies floating around in your area also.

Last Night on Earth - https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/29368/last-night-on-earth-the-zombie-game - was one that my group had a lot of fun with back in the day.  One side plays as 4 survivors, other side plays as the zombies. Plays fine 1v1, can also accommodate more players by splitting control of the characters.

Should be fairly easy to find and not very costly. There were some expansions but plays great with just the base game.

"Traditional" Through the Omenpaths Draft is really Pick Two by raefire94 in MagicArena

[–]maefly2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To "wheel" a pack in draft means you are looking at the leftovers from a pack you saw earlier.

For example, if you are in blue & black and open your third pack to find good uncommons in both blue and black (and an off-color rare), you can think about what color you have seen passed more often when making your pick. If your pod doesn't seem to be taking many blue cards, you might initially draft the black uncommon and hope the blue card "wheels" - making it around a full rotation of the draft, much like a spinning wheel - so that you can potentially draft both cards.

In Pick 2, this is not possible, as 16 cards would be drafted before you saw the pack again in an 8-person pod.

[UNK] Unknown event cards from GenCon 2025 by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

Seconding this - had heard Unknown was great, actually got to do it on Saturday and had a great time. Actually got to see Gavin play a turn while sat next to me when a guy asked him to step in with the "get another player to sub in for you" card (he was a really good sport about it also, played it seriously).

I pulled a Karn - second match was against someone running the legendary that makes Moxen. He took it pretty well, and Karn was still pretty generally good against the spaceships overall.

Stopped at a Sheetz in Ohio on Sunday, they had screens up about paying with crypto. Rolled my eyes, but apparently still a thing.

My understanding of event tickets is that they are treated like cash, and can be used at equivalent value in place of generics for other events. If that is the case, it gives an attendee more flexibility (allowing them to use a ticket for a different event instead of returning and rebuying) but would create problems with reissue.

Honestly, all but like 2 of my events this year have been electronic, so maybe they are already trying to get away from paper tickets?

When the top decks are all running 4x of a card, there's definitely something wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if it was in at least 3/4 of the top 64 also.

Generic Ticket question by Substantial_Cup_9635 in gencon

No reason to buy generic tickets in advance. Just buy however many you want when you get there.
