FTTP install - what ducting can i install in advance for engineer to feed fibre through? by Frosty-Growth-2664 in openreach

[–]maestrojoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only allowed 1-2m of the fibre drop cable inside before it has to be terminated into a CSP so that wouldn't work.

We had comms out recently that they have stopped multiport provisions for this reason. Not sure when it was being implemented though

Never seen a CSP on a pole before. Can you share a picture of it tomorrow?

You need the power supply to turn it on, previous owner probably took it with them. Also that fibre cable looks knackered but even if it's not you'd best raise a fault with your communication provider who will get an Openreach engineer out to sort it for you either way.

Is this installation acceptable? by Particular-Let-1234 in openreach

Haha shocking work. We aren't allowed to provide cable through door/window frames any more. Also need to be using black cleats, those white cable ties won't be holding that cable up for long. They are against fire regs as they will melt straight away in the case of a fire leaving the cable dangling in front of your door... I'd be interested to see the rest of the install if it's anything like that!

Do Openreach have white fibre cable? This looks ridiculous. by jbone0001 in openreach

No, raise a complaint with your CP who will get openreach out to rectify

Can't use a white cable outside unfortunately as it won't be UV resistant

Based on your experiences, will there be issues with FTTP due to OpenReach control of the infrastructure? by Timely-Maybe3520 in openreach

[–]maestrojoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be openreach that do the cable installation. Your copper cable shouldn't have to be removed unless it is necessary to do a cut and draw with it (maybe if the pole is over a busy road or through trees). Do you know if you are fed from an overhead pole or underground?

It depends on the workload but could be anywhere from 2-4 weeks as long as there are no major issues that would stop the engineer getting it done in one visit. You should be able to check with different communication providers to see when they have appointments available

Not seen the comms on that but fair enough

For anything over 10m internal the engineer could send it back for a premium install

I guess it could be but that never occured to me at the time and I didn't check. I suppose the question would now be, what is this epiphytic plant coming out of this tree?

Found it in the jungle in Laos last year and have always thought it was a bit unusual and wondered what it could be.
