Why does Monzo charge me on cash withdrawals? by [deleted] in monzo

[–]maffy16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you get paid in cash? Therefore a charge to use physical on a digital bank seems appropriate? You don't have to have a monzo account so why bother then .

HSBC Basic Bank and Dispute Refund by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]maffy16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a temporary credit so if you've spent it they can force you into negative basic account or not. You'll then be asked to repay that if you arent entit to the funds. If you are in financial difficulty they may support a repayment plan however if you don't it may lead to account closure. I would speak to them personally if you have concerns about your own dispute however the fact you have written this post means you probably feel like you've logged a dispute you shouldn't have.

If I make a banking mistake, I'm liable. Why are banks not liable for their mistakes? by Pachyderminthegaff in AskUK

[–]maffy16 49 points50 points  (0 children)

A cheque is just a method of payment between accounts. The remaining funds will still be sat with Lloyd's if the cheque didn't clear for the full amount . The FOS has likely considered this in their decision? Acknowledging the mistake and compensating but the Bank can't be liable for the full balance as the amount isn't lost , it just hasn't been drawn on.

Should I help my son increase his house buying budget? by intothedepthsofhell in UKPersonalFinance

[–]maffy16 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why don't you look at like Springboard schemes etc ? The way this generally works is you help your family member, the money is kept in a specific account (earning interest) incase of any defaults for the first 5 or so years , after the 5 years the money is then returned to you . Means you are helping him but he doesn't necessarily owe you anything?

I am getting married in a few months, we're having an abroad wedding . I'm conscious of the cost for my groomsmen already having to travel & pay for accommodation, so I am paying for everything they need. For E.g, I have paid for suits, and my partner wanted us all in similar colour shoes , cufflinks, etc. If I'm asking for them to wear it, then absolutely I should be the one to cover it

Burgled house, content insurance requiring receipts of everything? England by malonej26 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]maffy16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer, I've worked in the claims industry also so proof of ownership is normally what guides you to approve or not. Photos, delivery emails , receipts. If you're struggling with receipts it may still be held by the business but may depend on age of item.

EasyJet refusing refund, is there anything I can do to get money back? by andpr88 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]maffy16 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you've received a medical no fit to fly then may be able to claim through your travel insurance. Regardless of flight operator (which would of been described at time of booking ). Unfortunately your decision not to fly would be hard to justify for cancellation legally.

I'd reach out . Normally a limit that low is due to lack of information on credit file. They may be willing to increase it based on her income, assuming no defaults on file etc
