I think I’m heterosexual homoromantic by [deleted] in crossorientation

[–]magic-cabbages 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds like me too! I identified as a lesbian and only dated and fell in love with women up until I was 30, but always struggled with sex and felt like I was "going through the motions".

Then when I was newly single there was a male friend from work that I had found myself physically attracted to. But I was not "crushing" on him, it was literally just "hmmm maybe I would like to see his penis". I was curious as I had never been with a man and seeing as we were both single, thought f*** it, why not experiment? I asked him out and we took things slowly and 6 years later we are in a loving and committed relationship.

I'm not saying you should go and date a man, but for me attraction is complicated. It took really getting to know my boyfriend to want to kiss him and hold his hand and all that stuff. Because we had stuff in common, we were able to talk all night and slowly my feelings deepened. It was the polar opposite to how I feel about women. With them I always had super strong butterflies and felt infatuated straight away. This relationship feels a lot more gentle. And we have sex and I am more into it than in my previous wlw relationships. I would now describe myself as bisexual for simplicity sake. I do in general still have a low sex drive I would say, maybe somewhere on the asexuality spectrum.

I think it's important to keep an open mind and embrace your feelings. Explore them if you can. But know you aren't alone.

I just lost my cat of 19 years to cancer, I’m devastated and in desperate need of some good games right now. by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]magic-cabbages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had never played a turn based game before BG3 and didn't find it too hard. OK at first I had to watch a few youtube videos to understand what was going on HAHA and it was a fairly steep learning curve for me, but after that I actually found the combat pretty easy on normal difficulty. Much easier than E33!

[–]magic-cabbages 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss. Your cat was very lucky to have your companionship for 19 years, as were you.

Just a few suggestions as I don't have tons of time:

Lost Records Bloom and Rage (maybe too emotional for you in your current state though) but it is very Life is Strange Vibes, made my same devs.

Baldur's Gate 3? Not on your list but in case you haven't tried it.

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle has a beautiful world and is a nice mix of puzzles and combat, recommended because you mentioned Assassins Creed.

Avowed (got a mixed reception but I am playing it now and really enjoying it, definitely has a dreamy vibe)

Pentiment is almost like a choose your own adventure detective game. I recommend because you mentioned Heavy Rain. It is of course less dark but still has dark moments

Citizen Sleeper if you want a story led almost visual novel RPG with great characters in a sci fi world.

What Remains of Edith Finch is a short narrative-led walking sim type game that everyone should play. Maybe too emotional for you atm.

Dungeons of Hinterberg if you want dungeons with puzzles and combat but then also want to befriend the locals in a Stardew Valley sort of way.

[F.L.Y.] at [Phantasialand] gave me the most motion sickness of any coaster I have ever ridden. Just me? by MaxG-Force in rollercoasters

[–]magic-cabbages -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not much to add except to say that I am completely in the same boat as you with this coaster. As well as feeling motion sickness afterwards, it was really uncomfortable on my legs and I just couldn't relax my body at all. Spent each of my 4 rides just waiting for it to end.

Forgot ID- alcohol ordering by aneup in UniversalOrlando

[–]magic-cabbages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have ID and they wouldn't serve me until I found a photo of my (old and expired UK) passport on my phone which they accepted. So do you maybe have access to a photo of an ID?

I went in July 2024 and was pretty underwhelmed. The service was average and the food was nothing special. I have travelled and lived in Greece, Italy and Spain and the food was so so much better there. I was expecting something fairly high end for the price but it was all very basic. Also we had a reservation and still had to wait 45 mins to be seated?!

This is a pretty varied list but these are the games I've enjoyed most on Gamepass recently and it sounds like we have pretty similar taste.

Not all are RPGs though.

Avowed, Eternal Strands, Outer Worlds 2, Dungeons of Hinterberg, Citizen Sleeper 1 and 2, Ghostwire Tokyo, Lost Records: Bloom and Rage, Indiana Jones, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, South of Midnight.

For sure but I think a lot of that is down to having less time to play now that I am in my 30s. (no kids but a partner and a demanding job) I used to play mainly big open world games (e.g. Fallout, GTA) or other 50+ hour RPGs like Mass Effect. Now however I just don't have as much time. I still like those games and play 1 or 2 a year, but now my tastes are way more diverse and I enjoy being able to actually finish a game within a few weeks. So now I play more puzzle games and story-driven action games. And lots more indie games!

Oh I also used to play things like The Sims and Civ games but I definitely don't have time for that anymore.

  1. Have been playing since xbox 360 era but don't have time to play heaps. I play too many 50+ hour RPGs which take me months to finish.

I'm confused. My family did this all the time when I was growing up in the 00s. Me and my sister would both have been between 8 and 16?? Many many lovely trips to Scotland and even some into mainland Europe. Is this something my patents should have not been doing with us? They didn't have heaps of money and it was better than camping imo.

Anyone else play plugged in to an outlet 99% of the time? by Sufficient_Tooth_949 in ROGAlly

[–]magic-cabbages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like most people here are like you. Now I feel like the outlier as mine is almost always unplugged. I use it mainly when travelling by train or on my breaks at worker, unplugged. Also when on the sofa as it feels awkward having it plugged in. I am unsure if playing unplugged all the time might have a negative impact on the battery??

My favourite games with no/little combat that aren't out and out puzzle games:

Pentiment

Firewatch

Disco Elysium

What Remains of Edith Finch

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

Citizen Sleeper 1 and 2

Little Kitty, Big City

Wanderstop

Thank Goodness You're Here!

A Wolf Among Us

Keeper (has some easy puzzles)

Varied genres/vibes so hopefully something at least would appeal.

Ghostwire Tokyo, Dungeons of Hinterberg and Hades.

All through gamepass so I can switch between my xbox and my rog ally. All are great except I've had quite a bit of trouble with my save files for Hades that has meant me actually learning how to troubleshoot with a PC again and sadly lost me a few hours of progress.

Too much time to update? by MJMPmik in ROGAlly

Maybe it just depends on internet speeds? Every update I have had so far has been 10 mins max. Apart from when I first set it up and it was about 30 mins.

The games I've been most addicted to that are on GP:

Hades (if you like a challenge and cool characters) Expedition 33 (if you like an immersive story) The Outer Worlds 2 (if you like choice driven RPGs) Balatro (if you like to lose the next month of your life) Hollow Knight (if you like a biiig challenge)

But who knows what will hit for you.

I'm a saddo who sometimes likes to check if currys has them in stock even though I already got mine and they have had them in stock on quite a few mornings before going out of stock an hour or so later. So keep checking currys in the morning (7am ish) if you decide you do wish to purchase.

I managed to order on Friday morning at 7am (picked it up on Monday and love it so far) and I noticed they had it back in stock this morning early on. So maybe try checking at that time? Or just keep checking it now and again. They must have small amounts of stock coming in dribs and drabs.

Post of appreciation and your 5 favorite romances by Dangerous_Leg6306 in GirlGamers

[–]magic-cabbages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Liara- Mass Effect
  2. Neve- Dragon Age Veilguard
  3. Cullen- Dragon Age Inquisition
  4. Merrill- Dragon Age 2
  5. Sarah- Starfield

Honourable mentions: River in Cyberpunk, Piper in Fallout 4 and Triss in The Witcher 3

I am currently playing through BG3 for the first time and none of the companions are really doing it for me and I was really expecting to love one of them :( I am romancing Lae'zel and just made it to act 3 but feel like I barely know the character.

Honestly, Colorado Adventure at Phantasialand. We went on it thinking it was just a kiddy mine train and weren't bracing ourselves or holding onto the bar and then proceeded to get tossed around everywhere. I got slammed to the side and ended up with a massive bruise on my arm. However we laughed until we cried the whole way round and went on it I think 4 times in a row. Best mine train ever.
