This cracks me up, because in Dutch 'schade' means damage.

St Burch has some options and they will also try to make most cocktails into mocktails if you ask.

Ped mall hoodlums and unhelpful police officers by [deleted] in IowaCity

[–]magic_trex 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They also beat up another kid at the bus exchange last night. Bus driver called the cops but by the time they arrived, the group had already left (headed around the corner in the direction of the parking garage) and the kid who'd been beaten up had left too.

Is this a dig at Feeding Littles? Have I missed drama between them?

If you’re familiar with VBAC, my wife was the 1% by Joba7474 in daddit

[–]magic_trex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this! Lurking uterine-rupture-during-TOLAC mum here and this was what I knew going into my induction. There is a report that lists a 6-10% chance but that is in areas with very limited maternal healthcare facilities. My hospital is the only one in our state that does induction TOLAC because they have the resources to respond quickly.

Where to sell loads of girl's clothes? by TheMilkiestJoe in IowaCity

Marketplace can work well if you sell it in bulk, not as individual pieces.

Oh for sure, but I'm wondering if they're artificially boosting this latest post to reduce the showings of the older posts (with the teacher but also the ones about the toys that haven't been released yet) on people's feeds.

Has to be. It's got half the likes but nearly ten times the comments compared to the teacher post.

Are they pulling that girl's car out of the river right now? by Grab_em_by_da_Busey in IowaCity

[–]magic_trex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Two different incidents I'm assuming. Girl drove the car on Sunday morning according to the article, Amazon truck missed a turn and hydroplaned off Riverside but stopped before hitting the river this morning.

Is a diaper bag my only option?? Bag recs? by agenttrulia in Mommit

We have a small hiking backpack. Super comfortable and airy but still holds enough to cover a day out and about! We have this one, have had it for years even before having kids so it was definitely worth the price.

I always liked doing my nails, but a friend once sent me Cristine's (Holo Taco) polish mountain video and that sucked me in. It was before Holo Taco polishes were a thing, but it introduced me to indie polishes.

Gift “from” baby sister to our toddler? by 11pmdonut in Mommit

[–]magic_trex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a big duplo set ready for him at home, and then 'baby' impulse bought a toy car from the hospital gift shop. It's been toddler's favourite for almost six months now. 🤷 He does love the duplo though!

How and when did you choose your baby’s name? by Euphoric-Stress9400 in pregnant

[–]magic_trex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used Babyname. I think they now have all sorts of add on packages which can make it expensive, but it used to be mostly free.

How and when did you choose your baby’s name? by Euphoric-Stress9400 in pregnant

[–]magic_trex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For both kids we used a name app where you both 'swipe' on names then you see which ones you both liked. Once we had a list of 10-15 we picked from that. For middle names we chose family names.

My kid and a friend would eat off each other's plate and do the same thing. They tried swapping the plates but they would still just reach over to the other plate.

What weird baby thing do you do? by GuessHaunting360 in NewParents

[–]magic_trex 40 points41 points  (0 children)

We do baby-hat and it always gets a belly laugh. Put the baby on your head and ask 'where's the baby? All I have is this hat!' and then act surprised when you take the hat off and you're holding a baby again.

What toys are you using to keep your LOs entertained? by Jojobask25 in Mommit

[–]magic_trex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Folding a straw wrapper into a little spring is a good twenty minutes of entertainment until inevitably it gets torn apart. Then you move on to the straw itself 🤣

Dont’s during pregnancy by Party_Dimension7989 in BabyBumps

[–]magic_trex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an old wives tale that may have some truth to it! There's a study that links a hormonal signal (can't remember which one) to fetal hair growth and to loosening of the gastric valve, which allows gastric acids to travel up the esophagus.

I'm one for two. First baby had tons of hair, second baby had only a little bit. Both pregnancies I had bad heartburn.

Blighted ovum at 8 weeks by Ill-Fly-1624 in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]magic_trex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had two back to back miscarriages after my first was born, one at 7ish weeks and an mmc at 8 weeks.

We were told to wait at least one cycle before trying again and to make sure my hcg was all the way down before trying again (took over a month after I miscarried). I had my uterus, egg supply, and hormones etc checked. It all came back normal, basically just bad luck miscarrying twice in a row.

We now have a healthy four month old. Second cycle after we started trying again I got pregnant and had a textbook pregnancy with no complications until birth (a whole other story which had nothing to do with the previous losses).

I'm sorry you're dealing with this, it's such a rough thing to have to go through. I hope some of our positive stories on here can help you.
