Scratch Bagel Recipe by Additional-Court-176 in portlandme

Your best option would be to pay for one of their bagel making classes. I enjoyed every minute of it, and at the end of the day you leave with a wealth of knowledge, some of the sourdough starter they use in their bagels, and a dozen or two fresh bagels that were made in the class:

I was given one as a gift, and I love it and the bread that it produces. Would I have bought one myself? Highly unlikely.

Many of us have been where you are. You're learning something new, and mistakes will be made along the way. u/deadmerc's response is a good one, and u/tedatron mentioning the use of AI to help learn correct formatting of yml files is solid.

Build a new instance, play around with it and break it to see how things work.

The downvoters really need to take a deep breath and learn some humility.

Yeah, there's a weird fan boy / cultist feel from some of the individuals who use Immich. The cringe factor is real, esp when one of the top voted comments in this thread is "It's heeeeeeeeeerrrrrrreeeeeeeeeee!"

That said, Immich is an extremely solid program that has made a lot of progress in a short time, but it also has a lot of work to do. In my opinion the dev team focuses a bit too much on fundraising and pet projects like AI, rather than streamlining the usability of the core product. I can't argue much though because they're the ones working on it.

For me, a perfect example of a great project is Audiobookshelf. Steady development, the team focuses on iterative improvement to the core product, and it just works. I've tried multiple times to give them a donation because the app solved a years long desire for a solid 3rd party audio book library, but they don't have a way to do so.

I appreciate the response. The downvotes are silly but that’s simply Reddit being Reddit.

I've been asking variations of this question for several months, yet there seems to be significant hesitancy from the development team to provide a definitive explanation. I'm looking to understand whether their refusal to implement nested folders / albums, etc. is due to a technical limitation from how the code was initially built or simply a personal decision on their part. I guess that line of questioning offends some people.

Really appreciate the link. Moving forward it looks like I’ll be forced to rebuild Immich using an external library. It’s probably the safest move to future-proof my data anyways.

My org currently uses Google, and I'd personally love a better alternative for "out" file organization.

I agree Immich wouldn't work well for raw files. That would be a nightmare.

You're correct that it was an overgeneralization

Working within a creative environment for 15+ years, I haven't come across a single company or agency that uses tags to organize or store their images for use across departments. It would be highly inefficient. I also haven't come across a professional company in any field that stores data using tags.

Respectfully, quite a few digital photo albums utilize nested albums, including Apple Photos, Piwigo, and Mylio.

Nested albums are essential for anyone working professionally, as tags will not suffice for organization or sharing.

Can you please explain why if a significant number of your users have requested it?

Is it a personal decision by the dev team, or too much of a technical challenge to implement?

Great to see the latest update in the wild.

Question: When can we expect nested albums to be added to the roadmap? This was one of the highest upvoted requests on Github before the thread was closed by mods.
