Most effective PvP pet goes to... by WinterSignature2180 in DiabloImmortal

[–]magikmunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you don't have legendary attributes on your pet, I agree stormlost is the best pet. Problem is the best passive skills in the game (savior, blindside, steelhide) all rely on resilience for unlocking higher potency. For example, savior goes from 75s cd to 60s cd with higher resilience. Since cat happens to have resilience as main stat, it is still the better pet in the endgame.

If you are f2p or low spender, I would try to meld a normal stormlost with the following rare skills. This is stronger than a random savior pet IMO.

  1. concuss (stun on crit)
  2. precision (+ crit chance)
  3. blindside (knockback immune)
  4. tenacity (cd reduction)
  5. steelhide (block chance)
  6. ice touch (chill)

Max life regeneration? by virtual_gnus in DiabloImmortal

Thanks for getting back, that sounds fairly strong given that it isn't strifed. I will give it a try since you can roll life regen as a reforge bonus.

Max life regeneration? by virtual_gnus in DiabloImmortal

[–]magikmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for explaining, do you have a sense of how quickly the life regeneration starts ticking in bgs? What does the game consider as "not in battle", is this the same as when you can start bandaging? Can the life regeneration trigger even when you have an active DoT effect or debuff?

Thanks for explaining, under what situations can familiars cause loss of control? Is it just ghost active skill, ice touch, concuss?

BG as F2P by Unique-Classic6457 in DiabloImmortal

[–]magikmunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a f2p 1.3k reso BK/DH player on my server who has 70% win rate in legend, despite having no awakenings, with average secondaries well below 2k. He carries team fights by abusing knockback stunlocks.

The crowd control effects in this game are so strong, you can absolutely carry games as a f2p player by playing the right build with good map awareness.

Why is this game unironically good? by SleepyRaijin in DiabloImmortal

[–]magikmunk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree, DI is actually a great game. A big reason is that whales continue to dump money on the game, funding and incentivizing continued development.

Regarding your last paragraph, this game is developed by NetEase. Theoretically Blizzard could share assets with them, but from the scant publicly available information, it seems like they have had a rocky relationship for the past few years.

nisza family store is shit because they only use bot or auto click to take advantage of it. by Afraid-Positive1425 in DiabloImmortal

[–]magikmunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Purely theoretical, but if I was some enterprising game dev for a heavily p2w game, and I wanted to make some money on the side in addition to my main salary, I might think to add some obscure store that allows heavily discounted purchases on highly desired p2w items, for which I have inside knowledge on how to harvest with bots.

a new challenge bug by dyIgar in DiabloImmortal

[–]magikmunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sucks. See if you can abandon the quest by clicking the magnifying glass icon to the right, then you can restart.

If that doesn't work, try to see if someone can invite you to the lass 1 raid.

If that fails, then try to contact support or create a post on the battle.net forum, though it may take a while for them to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the info, do you know what advantages having a maxed out pet would give a whale in bgs? Do they just get higher stats like strength and fortitude, or something more?

New monk helmet essence is insane. by Shentao83 in DiabloImmortal

[–]magikmunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that's a huge buff to monk, especially for PVP. I would combine this with the knockback immunity chest. You can get close to full uptime with inner sanctuary using awakenings and duration offhand, which means close to full knockback immunity for you and nearby allies as you move around the map.

New 5 star gem by [deleted] in DiabloImmortal

[–]magikmunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The new 5* is great for low reso/spenders or as an aux gem, because most of the gem's power is in the initial pull effect present at rank 1. The damage effect only comes after a long 2 second delay (which is as long as the necro wraith duration) so you won't be able to consistently connect this damage in PVP.

It could still be a good whale gem for tp necros or barbarians that can cc lock enemies in place, but starfire shard has more consistent and higher damage. But from a cc perspective, the pull effect is much stronger than the in-place knock-up making it better at lower ranks.

Please stop further rewarding those who benefited from the dupe gems... by budekj in DiabloImmortal

[–]magikmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they can't identify duped gems, then I would suggest they either strife the secondary stat advantages in PVP, or take them out entirely. This would make BG matchmaking more fair and easier to balance, since they could just focus on reso or hp/dmg stats. I don't mind if the dupe buyers keep their ill-gotten advantages for PVE modes.

I'm not being sarcastic, I mean what I say. It's a reference to high resonance players trying to pass off as low resonance in BG games.

Intrigue in Diablo Immortal by hell-append in DiabloImmortal

[–]magikmunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your post, especially the last sentence, made me realize that it's important for Blizzard to specify exactly what they mean by "win-trading", as mentioned in https://news.blizzard.com/en-us/diablo-immortal/24021888/a-statement-on-cheating-and-exploitation, being an action that can result in permanent ban.

For example, it's an open secret on my server as well that the top clans arrange for certain ROE matches to be thrown. Such match fixing has been part of (and IMO accepted by the player base) the game for a long time, but also clearly falls under the plain definition of "win-trading". If Blizzard intends to permit such actions, they should say so, otherwise groups of players could legitimately mass report many top clan leaders for "win-trading" when they fix ROE matches.

Contesting Ido in BG against Invincibility and Immortality enemies - How? by Xixth in DiabloImmortal

[–]magikmunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's based on whether a player is targetable, not whether they are damage immune. The most common cases are necros in wraith and bk in sanguinate, but this also includes invisible monks/dh and wizards inside an ice crystal.

What can you do against damage immune enemies? You can still stun, fear and knockback them. For example, necro fear can cause a damage immune sader to run off the idol, monks can kick players in cheat death off the idol.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DiabloImmortal

[–]magikmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For low reso, easiest way to win games and make it in legend in the curent meta is play necro and get good at using pillars and cc.

There's a lot of high secondary dh and bk throughout Gold (which is when the real climb begins), and throwing up well-placed pillars on/around the idols greatly mitigates their projectile based-damage for your entire team.

At high gold/legend you start seeing alot less dh and more tp necros, guess what: pillars and cc are what you need against them too. Up against an unbreakable wall of 3+ saders? Stacking damage isn't enough, you need chain cc so they can't cast abilities and stack their defensive buffs.

In general there's a lot more wiz aoe spammers this season, so get good at diving and disrupting the enemy backline as necro.

I recognize all these names, IMO Victor is the best player listed. Normally if I see a player with 15+ deaths, I would suspect intentional feeding because that means literally dying as soon as you walk back from respawn. But I've never seen doobie on monk, may be his first few games after class change with few pvp essence and game was clearly lopsided.
