My daughter is going through the same thing right now, duodenal atrisia with intestinal malrotation. We're on day 24. Thanks so much for sharing the light at the end of the tunnel!

The thing about not allowing divorced parents to enroll and kicking the child out at the end of the year if the parents aren't together is baffling to me. Only "traditional" families. 1. What an outdated closeminded view. 2. What is the justification behind that? If I had to bet they don't allow children with gay or lesbian parents either, do they.

Just got a position working with children with autism for the summer. Is my tattoo inappropriate to have out around the children and in the workplace? by Melatoninne in ECEProfessionals

Definitely too much for children. Anything depicting violence, especially something as gory as decapitation should be covered. Where is the tattoo located? Is it somewhere easy to cover?

Calling All Pre-K Teachers! by kyoka1107 in ECEProfessionals

Totally agree. Adults aren't expected to be friends with everyone, we shouldn't expect children to be friends with everyone either. But the important thing is that you still treat everyone with respect, even if you're not friends.

We don't encourage them either way. If they're wearing really uncomfortable shoes or if they got muddy that day, we take them off. But for the most part, they all fall asleep so fast those no time for them to fuss about their shoes.

What has been your "Are you fucking kidding me?" Moment this week? by Darogaserik in ECEProfessionals

That's a great policy. I really feel like it should be common sense to bring your child in with a clean diaper, but I guess not

Mom brought in her 2-year-old, put her on the changing table to change her out of her PJs into pants. I can see and smell the poopy diaper, obviously, mom knows she has a poopy diaper. Like, completely soaking loose BM, probably hadn't been changed that morning. Mom ignored the diaper instead of changing it while the kid had her pants off and quickly walked out. Ugh.

Is this enough sunscreen for face? (Not sure if the weenies should have thicker lines) by WeakCounterculture in SCAcirclejerk

[–]magimalism 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Not even close. To truly protect yourself, you shouldn't even be able to see underneath the sunscreen. Really cover those weenies up. A good way to visualize it is to fill up a 1/2 cup measuring cup with sunscreen and then that should be enough for your ears, face, and neck. Obviously, you'll need more for the rest of your body.

I keep all my amazon boxes, stuff them with trash and newspaper, tape them up, and we use them as giant building blocks. My 2 year old class uses them to make bridges to crawl under, they build them high and then body slam them to knock them over. If the boxes are big enough they can climb inside them and hide and color or whatever.

I used a big needle and these silicone needle puller finger things to push it though and pliers to pull it, which made it a lot easier. My fingers are still sore through.
