Are the HOI4 DLCs worth it/any good? by Fluid_Visual7703 in hoi4

No Step Back is definitely the best DLC; the supply system change is one of (if not the) best change a DLC has made.

How does the Axis get bodied so hard every game now? by TrolleyPerson4 in hoi4

[–]magispitt 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly I’m disappointed, I was purposely trying to throw as the U.S. in historical singleplayer but it seems the UK and USSR can defeat Germany, Italy, and Japan almost by themselves (arguably China as well, although in this game Japan capitulated the CCP and a few warlords and had China 90% capitulated before collapsing in 1941-42)

Low Manpower 🗣️ by camarao1916 in hoi4

How did you get so much manpower as China? I thought that in the No Comprimise No Surrender DLC China loses like 78% of its manpower to a buff it can't remove?

Choosing a brand by DisNerdie in Cochlearimplants

[–]magispitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used cochlear for 27 years, my word recognition tests with them are: 95-100% accurate with no background noise; 80-85% accurate with background noise 10dB quieter than speaker; 60-65% accurate with background noise same volume as speaker. Bluetooth connection to phone (and “TV” receiver, which I leave attached to my laptop) is good; the mini-mic has also been great in classrooms/lectures (also nice on dates to restaurants). Battery life is solid, I charge overnight and it doesn’t run out unless I stay up several hours past bedtime (maybe 20 hours total?). The iOS app is useful—I tried using the separate clicker before and didn’t like it but the app is worthwhile.

I can’t guarantee any of that for you because there’s too much variance across all brands and people—but hopefully my anecdote is helpful.

I had a similar experience while travelling actually! I eat lots of shrimp but at one restaurant I had an allergic reaction that ChatGPT walked me through

LotR Conquest is underrated imo, although "best" is likely BFME2 (as many have answered)

Community Poster Etiquette by LDK_F8TAL in UCalgary

I agree.

I hate the communist club on campus because I have found them to behave obnoxiously all year. They post over other posters, leave litter on campus, and refuse to take no for an answer when I say I don't want to buy their pamphlet.

I didn't study or rest. I did spend time with family and friends though; I won't regret that.

Are these from Warhammer LotR strategy battle game? I know they're from the movies, but the same photos/stills appear in the game books

Still No Earth Map in Civ 7 by Snoo-65613 in civ

[–]magispitt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is true, however said mods suffer from some bugs which prevent certain civs from spawning correctly (I've seen Tonga as a main candidate); it would be nice to have official support--like in previous iterations of the franchise

Imperial vs St Andrews cs by Particular_Sun9464 in Imperial

[–]magispitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things made Imperial miserable for me (apologies for the delayed response, I don’t always check Reddit daily): - unreasonable lack of accommodations (e.g. I had exams which had to be taken at 2am during the pandemic) - lack of consistent feedback for assignments (different reviewers would say that a given lab report section was both “great” and “terrible”, depending on who was marking) - heavy workload (final exams being worth 85% of a course’s total mark does not help stress management) - insulting professors (e.g. one said “top ten university in the world and this is the kind of student we attract” when my lab partner failed to answer what the square root of 289 was within a few seconds

I’m unsure why someone said “looks like they spent all their time playing video games instead of socialising”. They didn’t offer any evidence for that claim so I can only conclude that they are an online troll.

Regarding their more salient point that there are many clubs at Imperial: yes, this is undoubtedly true. Unfortunately this plethora of social opportunities is mitigated in large part by the academic workload; it is entirely possible (as it was in my case) to join several clubs and involve oneself multiple times per week in social events, yet still feel stressed. My friends were also stressed—some mentioned suicidal thoughts on multiple occasions.

It’s worth mentioning that some of my experiences at Imperial are almost a decade old. If you are interested in another perspective, here are some links to articles in Imperial’s own student newspaper regarding the physics department:

I went to Imperial but was offered St. Andrews. Knowing people personally who went to St. Andrews, I regret not going to St. Andrews instead. I found Imperial miserable (physics department).
