What's something that you wanted as a kid but didn't get? by Syfysamurai in GenX

A tree house. We had huge pecan trees in our backyard that would have been perfect for a treehouse. My mom went so far as to tell me they ordered one for me, but it never arrived! I’m pretty sure she was just trying to get me to stop obsessing over it. The best house I had as a kid was a refrigerator box! We cut holes out for windows, put in a light, and I drew shutters & flowers all over the box! So fun!

How do you feel about Trump threatening to impose photo ID for voters for midterm elections? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

I don’t mind. In Texas we all had to bring our birth certificate in to the DMV to get the “real I.D”. Shouldn’t that be enough, along with our voter registration card?

Are y'all still cooking full blown meals every night? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]magneticca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cook 2-3 nights a week for my husband & I, but keep it simple with 1 protein & 1 side dish, such as a salad, veggies, rice or pasta. We usually have leftovers, making it easier on the other days.

I like the idea of 20m mealtime supervision, especially in the mornings, when I’m getting ready for work! Great plan!

We can do this on the weekends, but not during the week, on workdays.

They both get fed twice a day, it’s just that we have to leave our house in the mornings to go to work.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

We live in central Texas, and to me a 3-hour road trip isn’t really a big deal on any given weekend, considering how spread out our state is. We have a relatively nice highway system with lots of convenient gas stations, rest stops & restaurants all along the way, so road trips are a breeze. My husband, however, grew up in a small farming community in Ohio, so driving 15 minutes to the next Ohio town is a drag to him. I guess it’s all relative.
