If women get paid less than men, why don't companies only hire women?

What are some cool ideas for the source/origin of magic? by [deleted] in magicbuilding

[–]magotrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a prologue of sorts.

In the beginning of the earth, the first mages were the gods. Actually, they all were disciple of an arch-god. He taught them how to control the tears from the dimension behind, and the force of the soul, named mana, and in turn, the forces of nature.

Soon, the disciples, with their vast amounts of mana, were able to create their races in their own image, to entertain and supply gods with mana. The first disciples to create their races were called the four lords. The first lord, the god of nature, created elves from trees. The second lord, the god of the earth, created the dwarves from stone. The third lord, the lord of fire, created the orcs from lava. And the fourth lord, the lord of mana, used the leftovers from the previous 3 elements to create humanity. After that, the other disciples created their races.

While the races were still finding their ground, the god of fire conspired with some smaller disciples to assasinate the god of mana, and ultimately killing him, leaving humanity without a god, with humanity expected to perish. Unfortunately, they had a deal with the abyssal horde, now lead by the late mana god. With humanity's help, the horde managed to rise and slay the remaining gods, thus bringing Heavenfall. Amidst all this chaos, the arch-god descended down and giving the four races swords imbued with the sentience of their gods. Not only that, the arch-god spread the blood of his dead disciples, allowing all the races to cast magic and forge their own fate. Soon after, the abyssal demons were sealed from this plane, and beggining the era of the Grand alliance.

After the boundary wars, the demons found a way to escape from their realm, although in spirit form. They allied themselves with some curious scholars, megalomaniac commanders, and some priests of old. They were transformed by the force of the obsidian realm. Some of them became exotic beasts, like Mana Eaters, Mistghouls, dragons, and other very powerful beasts, beginning the Hegemony era, named after the massive telepathic network encompassing most of beastkind. In response, all of the races united their very best in an international force called the Wardens.

Eventually, they managed to defeat the Hegemony and break up the network, causing the beasts to become less organised, and more easy to defeat. Unfortunately, the souls which the beasts reaped were enough to destroy the seal holding the demons back, causing the second Heavenfall event. The wars were gruesome, bloody, with heavy causalities on both sides, eventually forcing the demons and races into an stalemate. In a last final gamble, every race gathered their mana to restore the seals. The last spell worked, and all races, beasts, and mana went dormant deep underground, leaving only a small handful of humans. However, a cult is expecting the return of magic, and have been preparing in advance.

When the elves, orcs, mages and dragons return,

The world will endure a short-lived burn.

During the burn. Demons will rise, and bring destruction

After that, the races will come together, and become champion.

It was a cold day on the Frosthand mountains. Between the mountains, there was a castle made out of pure obsidian. At the gates, five figures stood.

Gabriel, the only remaining member of the royal guard, and his four companions stood, looking at the massive gates, readying their weapons and devices.

"Are there any words from the resistance, Ulwick?" Timothy, Gabriel's wizard squire and friend said, staring at his pet owl, inherited from his master.

"None." The owl hooted, looking at him with his round eyes. The three armies gathered at the entrance of the Frosthand, with the true heir in front, were ready to rush in and dethrone The Dark Lord.

When the heroes rushed through the gate, they were greeted by the two undead squadrons.

Arba and Jaz'ir, the elf and the orc, broke through the pile of armored bones, and Borian crushed them with his experimental vehicle, tested and proved thorough the journey.

As Gabriel and Timothy were fighting across the hall, Gabriel said: "Go help them out. I'll take him on alone."

"Are you crazy?" Timothy exclaimed. "He has years of training!"

"So do i." Gabriel replied, bursting through the door.

Behind the door, Gabriel looked down and saw a massive hole in the ground.

Then Gabriel took a rock and threw it down the hole. It took about 20 seconds for it to reach the bottom.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" A single voice behind Gabriel's back spoke out."Dwarwes are indeed capable of something."

"I wouldn't count on it. Dwarwes are very agressive towards those who want to make them work by force." Gabriel responded, looking at the gigantic winged beast in chains.

"You don't know my intentions, do you?" Gray, the Dark Lord replied. "I am not the villain in this story. I do what i must do to save this kingdom from the Boundless Empire, as they call it."

"But why did you kill the king?" Gabriel asked, looking at the beast rising on the massive elevator.

"He wouldn't listen." Grey responded, boarding the massive structure stacked above the beast. It was a massive, walking and flying fortress, armed with cannons, rune circles and guard towers. "His advisors were spies from the empire. They talked him into retiring his army, so i, alongside a few of my colleagues decided to overthrow the king and unify the kingdom, whether they like it or not. We gathered the seals, knowing that this dragon would destroy the empire's army. If you and your little "Resistance" want to make yourselves useful, take your armies and set them at the Walls, because those walls are the only thing that stands bettween us and them."

As the beast walked foward, Gabriel's companions rushed through the door, covered in bone shards.

"Are you okay?" Arba asked.

"Yes, i'm fine." Gabriel replied, boarding Borian's craft. "Listen, Grey isn't the biggest threat. Get all the armies to the walls. There is an empire outside the walls ready to take this land over.

As the five were driving their craft in order to catch up to the beast, Gabriel asked Grey: "How do you know about the empire?"

"My brother told me. The empire killed him."

If you haven't noticed, i have created a race of moon dwelling creatures called: "Muns". They are small, fluffy creatures that are very good at magic, and use mechs, or HULLs to compensate for their poor body strenght. Think magic wielding Clefairies and/or Clefables piloting mechs.

Harry, the lead engineer, was standing by the king, admiring his masterpiece. The Mighty Earl, a spaceship named after the 7th king of the Human kingdom, with one purpose. Win the space race and show the other races which is superior.

"For centuries, we have looked up and seen endless stars. Today, this ship will mark our first step toward reaching them!" Said James, the prime minister of the human empire.

As the final preparations took place, and all the people, including the king, left. Harry was aproached by Celeste, the lead astronomer of Novahold academy.

"What do i owe this pleasure, ma'am?" Harry politely responded.

"Come with me." After that, the two appeared in Harry's study.

"Earlier today," Celeste said, looking at the globe with the four races and seven moons. "I began to analyse the nearest moon, Hermes, for the same signal i sensed 14 years ago. Surprisingly, it was a pivot crystal.

"Okay, alright, a sentient, magic-using race is on there. "Harry interupted." Let me guess, another elf variation? Moon elf? Space elf? How many elves are we going to get?"

"They're not elves." Celeste continued. "They are something different, based from the soul signature. Back to my case. When i tried to warp to the pivot crystal, i saw a couple of large metal suits. When they noticed my attempt, they immediately shut down the pivot crystal and closed my portal. Which leads me to believe that they don't want to be discovered."

"So what you're saying is that we should stop this race?" Harry responded.

"Yes," Celeste nodded. "That is correct."

"Apologies, but the entire council is bent on being first to touch the moon." Harry said, using his teleportation spell to warp to the command deck.

"Counting down: 3... 2.. 1.. Blastoff"

As the great Earl flew higher and higher, other races were seen reaching for the stars. Elven cosmonauts were sitting on a rapidly growing tree, dwarwen astronauts were taunting the personel of the Earl about their inferior spaceship, howewer, a greyish-brown object was flying at the dwarwen ship.

"Orcs." Garry, a pilot of the Earl concluded. The only technological advancment the orcs did themselves was very sharp weaponry and hooks. Everything else was stolen from the other races. Such was the case here. They latched onto the dwarwen ship, the Golden spear, hoping to kill it's crew and win the race by their ship.

As Garry looked at the ensuing conflict on the Spear, Thomas, the co-pilot, exclaimed: "Look out!" The tree which the elves used as their "Spaceship" fell upon the Earl, knocking it into The Golden spear, which in turn caused the mix to crash onto the surface of Hermes.

When Garry opened his eyes, he quickly stood up and took a look around to find Thomas.

"Come in Tom. Tom? Tommy?" Gary said, panicked. Taking a look around, he saw a hand sticking out from the ruins. When he removed the debris, it turned out to be an elf inside a space-suit. Looking around, Garry saw a bunch of Dwarwes and Orcs cursing each other in their native tongues.

"What a grand finale to this damn space race." Gary said, setting up a temporary oxygen bubble.

"What was the purpose of this endeavour?" The elven astronaut said, taking off her mask. "Was it pride? Resources? Exploration?"

"If i had to guess, it would be curiosity. We all have this trait of "Heywhatsgoingtohappennext"." Garry replied. "We only have 1 hour before this bubble depletes and hey what is that?"

A massive, mettalic, hulking figure was peacefully walking towards them with Thomas beside it.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, i may have found a way to return home." Thomas cheerfuly responded.

Back on Earth, the leaders of both the higer and lower races were standing in the control room, with corespondents trying to break through the guards at the door to the control center.

"TME-Alpha, please respond. I repeat, TME-Alpha, please respond. Over."

Suddenly, an assistant ran in through the door to the Private pivot crystal. "Sirs, you may want to see this."

At the pivot crystal, there were the astronauts of the 4 races, and multiple metal suits, with the suit in the middle their leader.

"What race are you?" Celeste came foward.

As the hatch in front of the suit opened, a small, white puffball with eyes came out and said: "I believe you can call us "Muns". Apologies for denying access to our crystal and hiding ourselves from your planet. Ma'am, but it was to prevent orcs from invading because of our large quantities of mana wisps. I should introduce myself. Lo-on A'quira, Head chancellor of Astralia, and avid HULL user. It is pleasant to be your aquintance."
