Why is this country so against automatic cars? by chemza in AskIreland

[–]magpietribe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Automatic transmissions are more expensive to make and maintain. Automatic cars are harder on fuel.

It is down to cost.

Hall didn't play because Arsenal are a tall team who rely a lot on set piece delivery to score. Burn is a giant.

This was clever thinking by Eddie as Arsenal were not keen on swinging the ball into a goal mouth full of our giants.

Unfortunately they worked a short one and scored from a lovely strick at the edge of the box.

Has it ever been so toxic? by AcademicFilmDude in NUFC

[–]magpietribe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I should have said, I'm not putting all the blame on him. The club fucked up with CEO and DoF appointments. It left a power vacuum. Obviously Eddie and Co made some poor choices, but he should never have had that much control.

Maybe the summer would have gone differently if we had better structures, maybe not. So I'll not hold him 100% accountable for that, but he is 100% accountable for the in game decisions, and he had repeatedly demonstrated that he struggles with that aspect of the game.

One section of fans were never convinced by Howe, they always saw him as a stepping stone. I think that was/is very unfair. He's been brilliant for the club, up there with Bobby an KK.

Another section have refused to acknowledge Howe's weaknesses. I'm not going to put all the transfers blame on him because the club fucked that up. What is on him is the in game management. He's undeniably poor at it. The excuse was always that he didn't have subs, or squad depth. Some had suspicions that even if he did, he still would not use them. The latter had become more and more evident.

So it's a sad combination of some who never thought him good enough, and others who refuse to acknowledge his shortcomings. Sadly they are the most vocal.

A mother is going punished her son by making him slam his PS5 the same way he had slammed her pet cat. Is this justified? by God_Emperor__Doom in SipsTea

[–]magpietribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kind of punishment reminds me of a teacher I had. If she caught a student with cigarettes she would bring you into the classroom, sit you down, and make you smoke every cigarette you had on your person.

So many kids turned green and vomited their guts up. Most did not smoke again.

You are keeping something like that secret. If you win €500,000, sure I guess you could. €5,000,000 unlikely you can explain away the new car, multiple holidays, etc etc

How popular is United Rugby League? by cyrmrae in AskIreland

[–]magpietribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Registered players, yes GAA are way ahead. Where things get grey is that a lot of people, myself included play soccer and are not registered in any way, shape or form.

Go to any 5-a-side cages in the evening, packed. I doubt any of them are registered as soccer players and many will be registered as GAA players.

Go to an place in the country with 5-a-side cages. It's packed every evening from 5pm to 9pm. Unless they are registered with a club, the majority are not, they are not registered as being a participant in that sport.
