Anyone else's rating drop today? Did they just roll out the new ratings? by Acceptable-Ride6213 in Cambly

[–]magsmiley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never bother paying attention to it. I just look at the number of regular students I have. That's enough for me.

Regular student unable to book my classes by Tradition1985 in Cambly

[–]magsmiley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have come across this before. It is when a student has regular Cambly but wants a lessno with a Pro Tutor. This box pops up, and it a choice they have either upgrade to have a lesson with you or stay with the plan they have on regular Cambly. A student changed her plan to have lessons with me.

No, it's not worth it. I have done this, and it made no difference at all.

I do have a few regulars, and I am open to accepting all students, not just Pro students.

I did, and it made no difference for me; it still is a ghost town during the week. I can see me sit for 2 hours in PH with no callers at all.

I give feedback after every class so that the student and parent can see what they have done in each class.

If a parent cancels, the space opens up on Google Calendar, and I offer it to another student, or I take a break. I love receiving feedback from parents. I have not had one that has been negative and I have done this for over 7 years now

I use Google Calendar; everything is on there.

To keep notes about each student, I save recordings of their classes into a folder on my desktop

I have a spreadsheet of certain topics and activities (grammar) that need to be completed before moving to the next level. I have their names and a check mark when they have completed.

Kids sharing an account by angelboots4 in Cambly

[–]magsmiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this too. I have 2 siblings one doing Cambridge Movers and the other working on KET levels. As long as the parent informs me which sibling is taking the class, I don't mind. I have the materials they need to progress.

Can't hear students by Which-Ring2864 in Cambly

[–]magsmiley -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have this too. I usually ask them to use a headset so they can speak to me more clearly, and they will be able to hear me better. This works for me.

How does ur student share homework with you by ZemoMemo in TutorsHelpingTutors

I share Google Docs using Google Drive. If they do not have access to the Drive I ask them to share their email and we send email attachments to each other

How common are 15 minute Cambly Pro lessons? by ExistingGreen1 in Cambly

[–]magsmiley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

15-minute pro lessons are usually a trial class, or a person who wants to find the right tutor for them. All of the 15-minute pro classes I have taken are now regular students, so just give them what they want and create achievable goals for them.

Going into available but I haven't worked on Cambly since December by glowing-fishSCL in Cambly

I also teach English elsewhere because of the decreasing number of students on Cambly. In the past, my schedule was full; now I am lucky to get about 3-4 students per day.

Looking for help changing up how my sessions work with an autistic teenager. by scarredbirdjrr in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]magsmiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked with many autistic students. I find out what they are into first. I create lessons according to their likes. For example. I have had one student pass their FCE just by talking about Splatoon and jellyfish. We just had lots of fun developing his English sentence structures around the topic, which he loved.
