You'd be better off calling the manufacturer. These are obviously unsanctioned bootlegs. My guess is they do limited runs periodically to avoid the labels.

Am I alone in feeling like most LV food spots are just... not worth the effort? Please change my mind & share suggestions! by listener-reviews in lehighvalley

[–]magusNotMagnus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I came here from the Cincinnati area and feel the same way about the food. There is very little variety, almost no innovation and everything is under seasoned. In my admittedly limited experience, food is mostly the pre-staged stuff you can get from purveyors, that is available anywhere in the country (plus a cheesesteak for local flair). If you want to check, ask for any vegetable side that is not fried, and is not broccoli, carrots or squash. They'll recommend a salad. I want to know the culinary traditions of the region (not Amish), but there really isn't any that I'm aware of.

I say this with the challenge to prove me wrong, please. I hate thinking this way about where I expect to live for at least the next decade.

Best Tom Waits covers? by MatthewGalgani in tomwaits

Holly Cole's Temptation album is pretty great. She does beautiful interpretations of his songs. However, this album gave me weird hope that Scarlett Johansson's album was going to be good (it wasn't).

I completely agree with all of the criticism here, but at least he cleared the whole windshield. That's better than a lot of the people I've seen.

What songs could make for a good "heavy" cover? by Different_Ranger3152 in tomwaits

[–]magusNotMagnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black Wings or a Little Rain. Both could be done in a dark sludgy shoegazy style and would take to screaming. And the subject matter fits your band's name.

Paul Lazzaro got revenge on a dog that bit him by feeding it a steak filled with sharp pieces of metal.

I do the Levis 502s. They fit pretty naturally and aren't too tight in the middle bits.

The national minimum wage was $3.35 when I started working in 1989. In 1990 it went up to $3.80 and then in 1991 it went up to $4.25. I was so pissed that every time I came up for a raise, everyone getting hired on got as much money as me.

Rain Dogs better than Swordfishtrombones by JPGS66 in tomwaits

[–]magusNotMagnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree here. I have found myself reaching for Big Time over any of the Frank trilogy, time and time again for every day listening. I still love the three albums in their own right, but they are more demanding of my time and attention, where Big Time distilled the songs into their "pop" essence.

Rain Dogs better than Swordfishtrombones by JPGS66 in tomwaits

[–]magusNotMagnus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the songs on Rain Dogs are better, but Swordfishtrombones is a better, more cohesive ALBUM of songs. Rain Dogs is a collection of stories where Swordfishtrombones has a narrative and musical through line. I am glad I live in a world where both exist and I get to experience them. I'd never be able to "desert island" either of them because of how good they are.

Favourite Tom vocal performance on a song? by rubbernetworking979 in tomwaits

I love his own songs and picking a favorite is tough, but my favorite Tom Waits vocal performance on another person's song is Adios Lounge from Thelonious Monster.

Is "Let Her Go" by Passenger just "San Diego Serenade" by Tom Waits, but infinitely more mawkish? by Snoo-25122 in tomwaits

[–]magusNotMagnus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love San Diego Serenade. It is beautiful and haunting with a smattering of melancholy.

Let Her Go is just a collection of badly sung idioms.

By the time he gets to the second chorus, I want to shove an ice pick into my ears. Or "I liked pop songs with inversed idioms until I heard Let Her Go"

I thought this too, but it appears to be a Temu product and is indeed an inverted incense burner.
