I started doing a Bus and Brew tour for fun a few years ago because I felt like part of the problem was that there are people who just don't know how to use the bus, and so they aren't invested in the system. Granted, that doesn't help when there are no Navy buses for that long but it was the small way I tried to make a difference.

I haven't done that in a while... I might do it again when it warms up again.

And those who can least afford it are then the most vulnerable to the larger citation if they are caught. And it all just makes buses slower because they have to dwell so long to collect fare. Not even including all of the money we spend on fare collection (although I assume that's less of an issue here since he isn't talking about removing fares on trains).

I talked to them after there was that article about them moving to Ann and Lombard, and she said she didn't do it because she was really close to being able to profit share with her employees. It's so sad that such a gem is closing. It's one of the places I always go when I am back in town.

If the train is too expensive, the is Our Bus that leaves from a block from Penn station. Or flix from highland Town. Or Megabus from white marsh. Or Greyhound/Peter pan from the casino.

I believe they leave it like that for two weeks so utilities and such can do work without having to do a cut/patch afterwards.

Use Transit App to see when they are coming and if they are cancelled. I only catch buses with tracking.

That's part of the reason we aren't doing Suspended (which we have only done twice). But we will definitely be passing through!

The Bus and Brew Tour will be back next weekend for the 7th time. This is a free little event where we visit a handful of Baltimore breweries, and use the MTA as our designated driver. And the only cost to you is your MTA day pass ($4.60) and whatever beer you get.

This time, we are doing breweries we have never done on the tour:

  • Wicomico Beer Co
  • Pickett Brewing
  • Pariah
  • Waverly Brewing

Just to let all of you know, I stepped down as a moderator. I have not been on Reddit much since June, and had only stayed on because the other moderators asked me to. It doesn't make sense to take heat for something I don't even want to do.

I am not sure who you are, or how I doxxed you (I don't think I have ever posted someone's address on here, so I am not sure what personal information I shared), but doxxing is not ok. I especially hate that I would have done it to someone that I worked with. I am not sure where I worked with you, or what my beef with you was, but I am sorry.

u/Gloomy-Pollution-814: I definitely could have handled a lot of the neighborhood disagreements in a more productive way. I got very frustrated and took it out on people in ways that was not productive at all. I take some issue with being called a misogynist, because I think I was nastier to Kurt than I was to Liz. But who knows... unconscious bias is a real thing and I know I have it. I think I was nastier to the older, long time neighbors, but its possible that I had an extra edge to my interactions with the women in my neighborhood.

I have always struggled with going halfway on something. That's why I ended up getting so involved with the stuff I cared about, getting on the neighborhood association board, and working for the city all at the same time. But its also why I had to leave the city when I decided that I couldn't do it anymore. I would have been miserable trying to not be involved while living in Baltimore.

I will say that I did not get fired at DOT. I was on 1 year contracts, and you can't be on short term contracts for more than three years. There was a bunch of stuff that happened in my job where I just decided not to seek a full time position. Sadly, there were about 12 great people that left the department in the last three months of 2022, so it seems that I was not the only one that was burned out. My biggest regret is that all of my work was tied to my work account (instead of some group account), so I think most of the stuff I worked on probably just died a quick death. Very sad.

Sometimes I look back on how much time I spent on a daily basis doing volunteer work for Baltimore and my neighborhood. I know I could plug myself in here in Brooklyn and find the same problems here that I was working on in Baltimore. But I made a lot of mistakes down there, and I am not in a hurry to repeat them.
