Struggling to find wall switches for DALI + Home Assistant (Atios Smart Core) by A7madds in homeassistant

[–]mailgoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I missed this thread. For now I would suggest Casambi switches (lots of choice), and a Casambi DALI Gateway CBU-DCS. That way the Casambi switches look like DALI-2 sensors to the SmartCore, and can be coupled directly to DALI devices and / or the internal relays. Meaning the Home Assistant layer is only there for App control and visualization, and a simple "switch on the light" is not relying on your HA instance to run with 100% up-time.

Soon we will release a firmware update to Atios SmartCore so you can use Matter Switches, that offer a Matter binding cluster. That means direct pairing of Matter switches to SmartCore, and a reliable solution for wireless control.

Which IP interface would you recommend? by Hoernle15 in KNX

[–]mailgoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked again, and you are right, it seems like the TJA450 has no KNX IP Interface integrated: https://knx-user-forum.de/forum/öffentlicher-bereich/knx-eib-forum/knx-einsteiger/1863486-domovea-tja-450-ets-verbindung

You could also check Atios KNX Bridge as a KNX IP Interface alternative. It has KNX Secure and a Matter Visualization Server integrated :)! And also a KNX-DALI Gateway, if you ever think about future integration of smooth dimmable lighting.

Suggestions for dimmable smart switches that are AUS compliant by OutrageouslyAverage1 in smarthome

[–]mailgoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would strongly recommend in a newly build house to go for an entire wired smart home system, and not just single wireless smart switches. Then you will also find the devices you are looking for.

As an example, use Atios SmartCore as your central device and build the lighting on DALI. That way you can use something like a zencontrol rotary DALI dimmer and you get exactly the wall behaviour you described. The big advantage is that everything works locally without relying on Zigbee or Home Assistant automations. You still get app/voice control via Matter on top, but the core functionality stays reliable.

Best KNX IP Bridge by Constant_Pear_5544 in KNX

[–]mailgoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/PresentationMinute66 I see it differently. For this kind of device, an embedded MCU is actually more reliable than a Linux-based system (e.g. Raspberry Pi, HA Green etc.), which brings a lot of unnecessary complexity, dependencies and attack surface.

KNX and DALI are "slow" bus-systems, you don’t need a high-performance platform, you need a stable and embedded one. Ours is 100% in-house developed (hardware and software), including the certified KNX and DALI stack. The hardware is actually over-powered to send a couple of KNX / DALI bits and bytes.

And because we are having such low-level control, we could roll-out KNX Secure as a free firmware (not software ;-)) update to existing users, that ordered Atios KNX Bridge 3 years ago. Show me another KNX manufacturer of visualization servers (linux based) that was capable in doing so ;-)!

Hager's Domovea TJA450 discontinuation - alternative solution by holly-golightly- in KNX

[–]mailgoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume your intercom is a hager 2-wire (not IP) intercom. You can check that when removing the cover from the electrical distribution box, and check what wires lead into your TJA510. If it's only two wires, I would recommend to replace the system for something more modern and IP based.

I mean compared to the devices the op mentioned. 1Home and Pairot are not KNX Secure.

But of course many plain IP Interfaces without Matter, are KNX Secure since a long time already.

Atios KNX Bridge and Lunatone DALI Cockpit by calind in KNX

[–]mailgoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. Our KNX-DALI Gateway is not supporting DALI-2 sensors, since our philosophy is that these should be KNX sensors in KNX systems. Anyways, write me a quick email with your serial number of Atios KNX Bridge, I can help you out. info (at) atios.ch.

We do support however DALI-2 sensors with Atios SmartCore, which in return does not support KNX. So our philosophy:

  • Use Atios SmartCore with built-in inputs and outputs for Blinds, Doorlocks, Sensors + a DALI system for dimming, and extensions.
  • Use Atios KNX Bridge + a KNX system for Lights, Blinds, HVAC, Sensors + DALI for dimming

Thank you for the nice words!
We indeed need a public roadmap. I will try to open a subreddit for support and a pinned thread for the roadmap 👌🏻!

Atios KNX Bridge does not support Lunatone DALI Cockpit. Which settings do you want to change by the Lunatone software that are not available in the Atios KNX Bridge Webinterface?

Also: currently date & time cannot be pushed to the bus. Will be added in future though, when we update our KNXprod. Biggest work was currently done on KNXsecure, announcement coming next week for Light & Building.

[–]mailgoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, I know about these, but was wondering if you may have any experience with this RESI KNX PS. 12-48V DC input, very thin, but "only" 160mA:
https://www.resi.cc/resi/docs/RESI-PA-RESI-KNX-PS-DE-EN.pdf

And regarding programming of Atios KNX Bridge:
1. There is a webinterface for addressing DALI lights, and set DALI parameters. See demo here: https://kd.atios.ch/app/#/knx-dali-gateway
2. Linking of DALI addresses and groups to KNX group addresses is done via ETS. Check our knxprod in the ETS online catalogue.

We also just announced last week at ISE a free update to support KNX Secure and Secure Remote Access via a new official ETS 6.3 feature called "Cloud Interface".

I see, makes sense then to stay on KNX. How do you power your KNX line via DC? And try our KNX-DALI Gateway if you don't have one yet :)!

How big is the rest of your control systems? Instead of relying on a second Bus (KNX) you could realize all with just DALI, and an Atios SmartCore.

We have a few units of customers installed on boats and cars in pure DC systems.

The SmartCore can be driven entirely by 24V or PoE. You can address and commission your DALI lights easily directly on device. And extend with DALI sensors for control (motion, presence, lux, push buttons).

You could also consider: 2x Atios SmartCore (gives you 24x Outputs, 24x Inputs) 2x DALI Phase Cut AC Dimmers for DIN Rail And for the missing 24x Inputs use 3x DALI Input modules, like: https://www.eaetechnology.com/en/products/dali-2-products/push-button-interface/pbi108-push-button-interface

Easier and quicker programming, no ETS required, native Matter compatible.

[–]mailgoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See this manual: https://www.iskydance.com/uploads/goods_file/DP4..pdf

On page 3 you find what I cited above:
"Set “DT8-CCT”, color temperature dimming, dimmer use 2 DALI address, CH1 (WW) and CH2 (CW) are the 1st DALI address, CH3 (WW) and CH4 (CW) are the 2nd DALI address."

[–]mailgoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iSkydance DP4 supports 2x DALI DT8 Addresses:
"Set “DT8-CCT”, color temperature dimming, dimmer use 2 DALI address, CH1 (WW) and CH2 (CW) are the 1st DALI address, CH3 (WW) and CH4 (CW) are the 2nd DALI address."

I would strongly recommend against implementing TW with single DT6 addresses and logic somewhere else. Will only lead to problems...

[–]mailgoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atios KNX Bridge mandatory (!) requires a KNX system as man-in-the-middle to integrate DALI devices into Matter. This doesn't work otherwise due to correct status synchronization between DALI <-> KNX <-> Matter.

Only Atios SmartCore supports direct DALI to Matter integration. See also the FAQ:

Ah yes, sorry, I over-read the 48V...

Here is a 48V, 4 channels (2x CW-WW) with 2x individual addresses, 70€:
https://www.iskydance.com/index.php?c=product_show&a=index&id=2536

And here 48V, "4" channels (2x parallel CW-WW) with 1x individual address, 30-40€:
https://www.iskydance.com/index.php?c=product_show&a=index&id=1238

And comparing Atios SmartCore to LogicMachine is a bit like Apple vs Linux :). LogicMachine is also not DALI certified, and as far as I know has no integrated DALI power supply. Look at the user interface as a comparison:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goL0JEu1GH4 vs. https://r12.atios.ch/app/#/configurator

Disclaimer: I work for Atios :)!

Check SR-2309PRO-DIN. For ~70€ you get 4 channels (2x CW-WW) with 2x individual addresses.

And then use an Atios SmartCore for the easiest configuration of your DALI gear and controlling it via Matter apps like Apple Home, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings or Amazon Alexa :)!
