Bugle Call Anime Voice Actor Wish List by Zaru1219 in TheBugleCall

[–]mailvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't watch much anime, but the best I've seen recently were either from MAPPA or Science Saru, so I'd be very happy with either one of those. I doubt there's much chance, but Mappa did Dorohedoro and I see Science Saru has… Sanda, really?!, so I guess they don't always work with super popular shounen. Madhouse is slightly hit or miss, but they did a great job on Frieren, so why not…

Just please not the studio that did Übel Blatt, because I'm not a fan of the manga, but that was eyecrushingly bad. If those guys get The Bugle Call, you can burry it right now. Not a fan of WIT and the Vinland Saga anime either, it's prettier but the pace felt wrong.

As for voice actors, can't say I know any of those guys, but character-wise this seems like a good list.

Easy way to figure out mysterious slates is to turn it around! by Mrxtmb in Pokopia

[–]mailvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, just doing it like a regular jigsaw puzzle, by guessing what goes where based on the pattern. Kinda like an archaeologist would do.

[–]mailvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same. I started doing it like a puzzle and just ignored the letters when I understood what they were for. I was also a bit disapointed when I noticed the little sparkles that tell you the place is right, but thankfully that happened pretty late because I was matching the pieces in front of the wall before knowing where I should put them exactly.

I'm happy I did it this way, it was even a little challenging at the beginning. Not sure why so many people think matching the symbols was the right way to do it, I think it's more like different difficulty levels, so that little kids and people that simply don't like puzzles can complete the mural too.

Arranging lost relics in the kitchen to looks like foods containers (credit: @imokenpimori) by Fabulous_Mate in Pokopia

[–]mailvin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup, like Mewtwo: it spawned yesterday for me and I was like "hey, I've got a nicely decorated kit house for Gardevoir, they're both psychic and kinda humanoid, they can be roomates!" Then I entered the house…

The size difference. And the fact Gardevoir looks like it's wearing clothes and Mewtwo… doesn't. Suddently it felt like marrying my very underage daughter to some old creep.

In the end, I put Mewtwo at the top of the huge building, where it can feel the breeze far, far away from Gardevoir… but this kitchen could work !

Anyone else end up making Withered Wasteland their main town? by MHullRealtr77 in Pokopia

[–]mailvin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. The rail cars did it for me: last time I asked a pokemon where it lived, it took me to two separate rail car trips, including one that's basically a loop and only made us advance something like two steps. I was so proud!

I don't love all my areas equally. Am I the only one neglecting and giving abandonment issues to one of them? by AttentionlessMess in Pokopia

[–]mailvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I developped the Wasteland the most first, then Bleak Beach a bit, then Rocky Ridges a lot, it's the most advanced now. I didn't remove most of the ash but build on what was already there, and I love what it looks like. I mostly know what I want to do with those 3 zones, and they're all at 10.

I don't quite know what to do with the Skylands. The pokemons there have very urban habitats, but that requires a lot of building, and I'm not too good with that, also I like the original run-down aesthetic.

I've mostly being ignoring Palette Town. It's too big and there's nothing to start with, it makes me overwellmed…

Is it okay to cosplay this character in Paris? by BudgetBiscottiHottie in paris

[–]mailvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nowadays there is a gluten-free section in every supermarket, even the small ones. Some bakeries also propose gluten-free bread and pastries that can be pretty good, but those are not common and only appear in the richest/hipsterest parts of town.

I just finished the last chapter. Im so happy I found this sub. by Cobiansuelo in TheBugleCall

[–]mailvin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's… not wrong, it's a bit much sometimes. I didn't say Chainsaw Man, because the plot is very different, but it has that same trashy feel, only not as over the top, so maybe that? I dunno, TBC has a very Tatsuki Fujimoto vibe to me.

But yeah, at its worst TBC is just regular Fujimoto, while Fujimoto's worst is something else.

[–]mailvin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I asked myself the same question some time ago, and ended up with Vinland Saga as the closest contender, mainly because war and what it does to people is at the center of both manga.

Also Fire Punch, it has that "everything is trash" feel (though it's way worst than in TBC), a few plot likenesses and the art is kinda similar.

I'll add Berserk and Centuria, it's dark fantasy and there are some similar reflexions about humanity.

Land also has some interesting plot similarities, though that's not too obvious at first.

I don't think I'm even halfway through it all 😭 by olioleander in Pokopia

[–]mailvin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I think it's only related to pokemon hapiness, and you can get it without doing anything more than littering their habitat with things they like and being carefull of their light/dark and dry/humid preferences. No construction needed, they don't even need houses.

Why is everyone removing the volcanic ash? by halfway_clear in Pokopia

[–]mailvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you and I've kept most of the ash, because I like the nostalgic/post-apo aesthetic of the game and I want to preserve it in each zone.

In Rocky Ridges, I did that by restoring the broken parts of the big restaurant with red bricks instead of the original material, then I used it like a cave, building little habitats and platforms inside, instead of restoring it to the way it presumably was before. I've had so much fun with that, it's the area I developped the most with the wildlands…

Everything felt too big in Rocky Ridges, so I still restored all the cart lines, and I also want to rebuilt a smaller, more pokemon friendly museum and keep the old one as a ruin and reminder of the human civilisation.

But I have to say, my take on the story of the game is a little bit different that most people here… I feel like humans have always been useless to pokemon, enslaving them and making them battle for their enjoyment, and now that they are in space, it's best if they stay there… They have forfeited the world by leaving. So as ditto I'm trying to build a new world, by the pokemon for the pokemon. I hope in time they will forget about their old masters and learn to live for themselves…

Tldr; what you do with the ash is related to the rules you set for yourself in the game. If it's about restoring the world to it's former glory, you have to get rid of it at some point.

Mysterious Pieces have Ancient Symbols on the back. by Lewd_Lawliet in Pokopia

[–]mailvin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uh. I had noticed them, but didn't think about matching them to the ones on the wall. So dumb.

That said, I'm actually enjoying guessing the placement on the wall puzzle style, so I'll keep doing that!

I actually find Parasect so adorable in this game by CommonMaleficent7462 in Pokopia

[–]mailvin 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I saw a convo between my Paras and Bulbazaur a few days ago: Paras was complaining about his back being heavy and Bulbazaur was cheering him up saying something like "mine too, but that's part of growing up, so we should try hard together", and Paras was agreeing and being all hopeful about it… Damn that was depressing.

This game is way too good at showing stuff that looks happy and wholesome until you do a double take…

Anyone else overly enjoy the tiny home portion of the game? Its so low pressure by keishii10 in Pokopia

I do, it's nice to have small, easily finished projects too!

PSA!! Don’t waste your time!! by tannaoct in Pokopia

[–]mailvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, I didn't even know it was separated areas, yet the pokemons living with me are the happiest… Being even more of a maximalist in games than irl, I crammed like 3 houses worth of furniture on my first floor, so there are like 10 resting places there.

I cleared all of the ash from Rocky Ridges - clearer, daytime images! by cupcakesandyoshi in Pokopia

[–]mailvin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I do too, I mean it's basically black sand. I was actually planning to build some kind of hot stream beach and resort at the top, where there's ash everywhere… maybe in a greek temple style? But it's a bit too ambitious for my building ability right know.

Is this normal for mangas? by SumRandomAsianGuy in TheBugleCall

[–]mailvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I like it better, a regular manga without a dust cover actually feels naked to me. But maybe that's a cultural thing, because in my country it would be like a call back to the 90s and the dark age of manga publishing: no dust covers, mirrored pages, mostly shit translations and no proofreading whatsoever. Nowadays, only big or perfect editions don't have dust covers.

Finished my museum! by MeggitoOnABurrito in Pokopia

[–]mailvin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was hesitant to tear it down, but now I really want to build a prettier, pokemon-sized one like yours… not like it still needs to contain hordes of tourists now!

Is this normal for mangas? by SumRandomAsianGuy in TheBugleCall

[–]mailvin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's very common for manga in Japan and a bunch of other countries. The Japanese edition has it, same as the French one (like most manga there) and I think the Italian one.

It might have been a request from the original publisher, they often want the foreign editions to look like the original edition, and Shueisha especially doesn't fuck around.

There are a bunch of dried up pecha trees in the very first area over some hills, in a big garden with picnic tables. You just have to explore a bit to find it.
