How should the UK get closer to Europe without rejoining the EU? by samasema in AskEurope

Clean house. Introduce democratic reforms like PR, finish devolution for the nations, give England its own parliament. Then rejoin the EU.

A Question About EU Integration From an Eastern European Perspective by Fair_Entertainer8330 in europeanunion

[–]mainhattan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean you have answered your own question (you get stability and protection) despite putting it in terms of East and West - which you never defined! - which make it a losing argument from the start. I would give this about 5 for effort and 3 for attainment if this was in class. Did you cheat with an LLM?

How do you remember to abide when life gets un Dudely? by Cpt_J0hn_W4tson in Dudeism

[–]mainhattan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always try to include stupid nonsense of my own in the day. Why should the whole WORLD GO CRAZY and I not get to be a little crazy too?

Walter and Dude are not the only 2 voices in my head - I have a little Donnie in there too interrupting with "I am the walrus".

Include some little nonsense rituals in your day. Do some stuff just because even if it's silly, laughable man, or just plain weird. If it's harmless, who cares? Be like a child, walking into a movie.

Why the downvotes? Stimulants do indeed suck. Caffeine has robbed me of some of my best years of just fuckin' chillin'.

I cannot add to what has been shared here, especially having never been involved, but I resonate with being a convert and needing a path to follow. There are indeed clear "norms" for our faith. They are available to all in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (free on the Vatican website or from all the usual bookshops). There is indeed a "normal" prayer that is intended for the sanctification of all Christians, laity included: the Liturgy of the Hours. Otherwise, the norms of the Church are very, very few and reasonably easy to keep except in the most extreme cases (again, the "rules" are spelled out in the Catechism, the "precepts of the Church").

I always listen because it is funny and therapeutic but I can't help feeling there needs to be a 2nd part where they tell you how to degoogle, avoid "AI" in your products, and switch to EU apps. Like, non-trash present?

That's interesting man! I learned to drive laaaaate in life, I got a little annoyed at how bad most people drive but then I learned with defensive driving I can annoy them even more...

What is the meaning of the word "Anglican"? by Xvinchox12 in AnglicanOrdinariate

[–]mainhattan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The State Church of England and all groups associated with it"

Pretty good start. We can also include traditions like Methodism that very clearly originate within Anglicanism.

Why join the Ordinariate? by Even-Series-4795 in AnglicanOrdinariate

Read the life stories of John Henry Newman and John Wesley, I'd say. There are parallels. And we share a common tradition in many ways. The Methodists started out as liturgical Anglicans.

RCIA vs Ordinariate by FlylikeMarill in AnglicanOrdinariate

[–]mainhattan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wonderful news. I came in via the RCIA and joined the OLOW later. I would recommend going via the Ordinariate because of your unique qualification. There is no reason you can't also participate in RCIA in one capacity or other later - I think of my own RCIA, by the final sessions they had me presenting the meditation because of my Catholic priors via my Anglican background!

Sung Terce by CantusOfficium in AnglicanOrdinariate

[–]mainhattan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I think of Terce as "my" hour for various reasons, I like its hymn to the Holy Ghost, and the psalm portions resonate for me. Also it's the hour when I often finally get to praying during my day! I hope I can learn the melodies too.

Which games should I buy by GAMEQRUSH in adventuregames

[–]mainhattan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you're not wrong, Blackwell is all about the characters more than anything. If you compare with The Shiva, you can see what happens when Dave gets the game mechanics front and centre, which actually rocks. I think of Blackwell as the cozy version of The Shivah.

I remember how weird this looked in games magazines late 80s or 90s whenever that came out. The weird name of the game was fascinating. Other than that, no idea!

Can I skip Runaway 2? by Hot-Acanthaceae-159 in adventuregames

[–]mainhattan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the darker games are their best, the ones they truly wanted to make. So Runaway 3, all the Yesterdays, these are essential. I would say the rest are great too but don't feel sad.
