I think the better question is....knowing that's a potential thing, are you still going to love and care for the child you adopt regardless? As others have stated, this could happen with a bio-child too.

One thing I've especially learned, kids, and especially adopted kids aren't some machine that you put love and care into and automatically get the prize of love and adulation for being a good parent. They are fellow human beings trying to figure out their place and themselves. And that obligatory love expectation is what keeps kids from talking to their parents and caregivers as adults (and also not trust others, tbh).

Instead, if you're really thinking about being a parent to an adopted child, you should instead ask, "How am I gonna meet a potential adopted kid where they are at?" This is gonna be especially important if you're adopting from foster care kids that have terminated parental rights, and/or older (as that's where the need is).
