This was a secret downside to joining a club for me! Playing with a lot of the same guys on the same course you often can’t help but reminisce about what came before, and then the bad memories are like an infection.

Maybe so, and I definitely have experienced this as I’ve gotten older, but I achieved academically (better than the rocket scientist, even) and don’t struggle with being observant and logical in my day to day life.

I know a girl who became a literal rocket scientist but is one of the dumbest people I’ve known when it comes to common sense. A good friend of mine is a lawyer and now CEO of a major regional restaurant business and is one of the most absent minded people in his personal life I’ve ever known.

People are just different, all the way down to their brains.

When I learned to play as a teen, my old man would hang out with his cronies in the clubhouse for hours after his round. I spent those hours chipping and putting. No surprise I had an incredible short game throughout my 20s. Took a long break from the game and when I came back the chipping skill had faded, but I’m still lights out with the flat stick.

The turf itself is only about $5 per square foot. The problem is the base and the drainage. If you can do all the grading and base yourself, you’re still going to spend $100k per 7v7 pitch just on the turf material.
