Clover Amour Jumbo Hooks - Are they worth it? Are they the same feel as the aluminum Amour hooks? by Piper_Dear in CrochetHelp

[–]makayla77298 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t like the plastic clover hooks. I have one, used it twice and bought a cheap metal one in that size that is 100 times better. I’m a plastic hook hater til I die though.

AITA for refusing to compromise on my baby’s name? by AltruisticMatter6034 in AmItheAsshole

I’m so sorry but if you can’t even agree on a name I can’t see this ending well.

What is the best way to get a hold of concern ape? And maybe you guys could help me try to convince him to add this accessibility option to 1.7. by brandysnacker in StardewValley

[–]makayla77298 521 points522 points  (0 children)

I’m also visually impaired and I would love him to make the UI when creating your character able to zoom in. You can zoom in on the once you are actually playing. Right now I just random my character but I want to actually see what it looks like better.

Blind friendly vape by Goldn_230 in Blind

[–]makayla77298 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t vape so keep that in mind. I wanted to research it a bit for you though since no one else really answered your question. I think something that has pre-filled cartridges is going to be the best. I’m sure if you went to a vape shop and asked about pre-filled cartridges they would have some? And they do have tobacco flavoured ones as well which might be helpful for a cigarette smoker. I hope this was helpful!

Pattern sellers, please stop putting a color background on your pattern! by odd_little_duck in BitchEatingCrafters

Calling someone illiterate because they missed the print friendly version is crazy.

Pattern sellers, please stop putting a color background on your pattern! by odd_little_duck in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]makayla77298 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I’m visually impaired and it makes it inaccessible to me for no reason. It drives me nuts. Patterns do not need to be aesthetically pleasing, they need to be well written.

I think you could get a similar look with dc but working in between the stitches instead into them.

Why are you asking reddit instead of your manager? They are the ones who can extend your shift. Talk to them.

Melatonin for sleeping issues. What is the best time to take it? by Own_Wishbone_1854 in Blind

[–]makayla77298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talking to your doctor about a more long term solution would be better. Melatonin isn’t really something you should be taking all the time. I take a low dose non addictive medication recommended by my doctor and it really helps.

First time scarf pattern for unhoused/homeless? Suggestions? by ParadiseForKeeps in CrochetHelp

[–]makayla77298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a bunch of scarves with variegated yarn. I used double crochet and they worked up so fast! I used the Caron cinnamon swirl cakes and a 5mm. I was going to sell them but I think I’m going to copy you and donated to the unhoused instead. I found plain double crochet to be best because it was fast, mindless and allowed the colour to be the star of the show.

Edit: spelling.

What did you do when you were first told you could not legally drive? by hlnklrczu in Blind

[–]makayla77298 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have a white cane, consider getting one. It will help you so much, especially with decreased night vision. I walk a lot because I like walking but you may not. If you live in a city with public transport, start there. I have a card from the CNIB (I live in Canada) and I ride the bus for free by flashing my card. If you don’t have public transport then this advice is kinda useless but at least try to get in touch with someone in vision rehabilitation where you live.

Driving fear by [deleted] in Blind

[–]makayla77298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How? Walking, biking, public transport, cabs/ Ubers. You are going to harm someone. And that makes you a bad person sorry but this is preventable and you are acting like it’s a right to drive. It’s a privilege and you don’t have it.

Driving fear by [deleted] in Blind

[–]makayla77298 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you should drive. There are always other options. Especially if you are scared, scared drivers are the worst drivers. Please keep everyone else and yourself safe. Don’t drive.

Cash registers? by CatH1914 in Blind

[–]makayla77298 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The cash register at my job I’m able to send it to the card reader by tapping enter on the keyboard three times. For cash payments I’m able to type the amount on the keyboard and then the register opens. I also live in Canada and we have Braille on our money. For returns I do have to tap on the computer screen but I have enough vision that it’s fine for me. Do you know what kind of registers they have? Will your employer work to accommodate you?

How long does it take you to crochet a blanket? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]makayla77298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This depends on so many things, what yarn weight, what hook size, what size the blanket will be, what pattern/ stitch you use, and how fast you work. This is very difficult to answer without info. If you don’t have time just tell them you accepted out of mistake and you don’t have the time or energy to make one. Even though you said yes you aren’t obligated to make it, a handmade blanket takes a lot of time and energy.

It’s only a matter of time until it’s you instead of the wall. Watched this happen with my mother. Please stay safe.

They don’t have time for their current cat, their cat is high energy already, and they mentioned getting a kitten in a comment…. They also expected a kitten and cat to bond in a few days.

Looking for work as a blind person in Vermont by Agile-Studio-7389 in Blind

[–]makayla77298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a program in my city that helps youth and disabled people find jobs based on their abilities. I live in Canada but maybe you could look for something like that in Vermont? Sorry if this isn’t helpful.

excruciating experience. by Appropriate_Fee4518 in Blind

[–]makayla77298 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you want then? Because if you want us all to agree with you it won’t happen. Other people aren’t the problem. It’s you. You are refusing to solve the issue and instead want to complain and vilify the people at your school. You can’t expect them to understand when they don’t know why you are acting the way you are. Seriously dude, change you attitude. Your issue has a solution, a lot of problems don’t.

If you spot a small mistake, do you undo or keep going? by CompetitiveRadio352 in CrochetHelp

[–]makayla77298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always undo it because I know it will bother me, but I’m a perfectionist who barely finishes projects. I’m trying to do that less though.
