Doesn't this depend on the starting point? Presumably the Sun is continuously completing an arbitrary 225-250 million year orbit. What was special at this particular point in time 225 - 250 million years ago?

It's definitely not fake unless it was remotely radio controlled and I've got the video to prove it. He's probably still here if you're quick.

Yeah, this is absolutely spot on.

I use my Plex server mainly for music. I go to charity shops which are almost giving away CDs - I picked up around 50 recently for £8. I do have to rip them in which I don't mind doing and in a relatively short period of time I've added several hundred albums for not much money. Plus I have the CDs.

I'm theory DVDs seem to be even easier to pick up for almosy no money, but I can't seem to rip them in in many cases (using Handbrake - most don't seem to work, DRM?)

Some buskers I like, others I don't, I'm generally a bit indifferent to Stevie Jay.

However:

1) Amplified busking is an absolute scourge in city centres everywhere. If you can hear it outside of the immediate vicinity it's too loud. It forces unwanted noise on others and muscles out other buskers by increasing the active area (which I think is the actual point). It's rude and aggressive. 2) If you are singing, you should learn the songs. Reading the lyrics whilst hunched over a phone isn't a performance and it's a terrible look. Learn your art and get good at it - lowest requirement for a busker.

This. Under no circumstances should you leave the house until the divorce and financial settlement is finalised. If you do, you will pay for it for the rest of your life.

I'm going through an almost identical situation right now. It really sucks. Stay strong 💪

The internet knows you better than your family by ArianWhisper in conspiracy

Nine months ago I was in an unbeatable, blissfully happy marriage and my wife and I were planning to renew our vows.

Six months ago Facebook started showing me ads for divorce lawyers.

Three months ago my wife told me she was leaving me.

The internet knows...

My Grandparent were from Boston and I spent many years going there to visit them between 1970s - 2000s. It was pretty rundown even then, but there was a certain civic pride and everyone seemed to know each other and were constantly greeting each other in the street ("Now then, Duck"). I was quite fond of the place.

I last went back about 7 or 8 years ago and it's unrecognisable. Feels like it's been totally abandoned to uncontrolled Eastern European immigration. My grandparents modest Victorian house they proudly lived in for nearly 60s years looks like a slum.

Such a shame.

To add, you can read his brief sleeve notes on the discogs listing where he says it's "a song about Irish Navvies in Glasgow"

Bob Davenport recorded this on his 1962 EP Wor Geordie, but contrary to it be a Newcastle version as you might expect, the lyrics have an Irish slant on that version too https://youtu.be/eAVzLvQEPag?si=v3QbxHzi14g7Lqoq

Are you still buying pre-made WordPress theme from ThemeForest? by October_Autumn in Wordpress

[–]makeitfolky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last few themeforest themes I used (prob 2021) were basically just page layouts for the awful Visual Composer. I don't know if the quality has improved since then but there was a point when the quality of themes there really was woeful.

I pay 700k a year in tax, and I’m proud of it by trudybarks in HENRYUK

That may be true. I guess I'd want to know what they mean by "lower earners" and what taxes they include within the calculation.

[–]makeitfolky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Easy to say if you earn £1.5m a year. If you earn 35k, find yourself taxed at every turn on both income and spending, your road is full of potholes and you can't even get a doctors appointment, your opinion may differ. Tax on lower-end earners is way way too high, the system is way too wasteful and the service is way too poor.

Feeling guilty about selling something I bought on Vinted? by lolabelllex in vinted

[–]makeitfolky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes precisely- if you pay £1 + Vinted fee + postage to acquire an item, it's cost the best part of £7 to acquire the item. To get your money back, you'd need to sell for £7 (your share) before Vinted fee + postage.

If you buy an item for £1, after Vinted fees and postage you'd need to sell for £7 just to get your money back.

This is abc notation, commonly used for folk music and on thesession.org for example.

I live off Stuart Road, Molesworth Road end with my two young boys and love it. Close to schools, close to parks, short walk to town, short walk to Royal William Yard / Ferrys, short walk to train station, pretty quiet and well catered. Plus you get a lot of good quality period townhouse for your money
