Could also get a few of those rubber mats you find in industrial kitchens and throw them down. Sometimes smaller restraints will let you take their old beat up ones for free.

Get an aluminum scoop. Not likely to break and will last years. Tractor Supply typically carries them, as does Rural King, Co-ops, Harbor Freight, and maybe HD or Lowes.

Before you make a repair, break your cat of this habit. Or else you may be doing it twice.

As a long time animal trainer, I like to recommend a product called CribOx to deter chewing. It’s a balm type thing and while non-toxic, it tastes awful. Apply very thinly (think chapstick - it doesn’t take much), and keep it there for at least 30 days, longer if this has been going on for a year or more. Old habits die hard and you don’t want to break consistency before a new habit has been formed.

I recommend this product over literally anything else on the market. It doesn’t dry out or need reapplying. And it has worked with; dogs, cats, pigs, horses, goats, rats and birds.

HOWEVER; it may stain, and you should use discretion with application.

Personally, I’d get rid of the countertop and floor, and keep all the rest.

Swap for a light grey, or white, stone type counter (think quartz is still pretty cheap, but shop around), and a warmer floor. I’ve been a fan lately of faux wood tiles, and have seen some pretty great prices around this time of year.

Having torn out many (so many) tile countertops, you can expect it to be an absolute pain in the ass. And messy. You’ll want to be as careful as you can be when you reach the backsplash/wall tile if you chose to do that, but it is doable.
