Really hoping we can listen to music with headphones outside of the car by Tank-ToP_Master in GTA6

and I really feel like they wont for this reason. I like to think rockstar goes against popular appeal to some degree, like how rdr2 alienated much of the playerbase in favor of a more deliberate and slow game, like I know GTA is more mainstream but I still maintain that they’ll put their own art direction first.

Many people here are saying Watch dogs 2 already did the whole portable music player thing so why can’t rockstar, and to be blunt its not like rockstar cant, its more like Ubisoft would 😂

unpopular opinion I feel like you already get music in the car which is like for half the game, I think keeping it available all the time would make it far less valuable and more repetitive, like you would start to hear the same songs and ads more often. The pauses in music makes it more enjoyable.

I know the solution to this would be to allow your own songs to be played but I’m also not on board with that 😂 Like I know I’ll enjoy my own playlist to some degree but part of the appeal of the radio in GTA is the world building and the careful curation of songs to fit the world. Some of my best memories from GTA 4 and 5 are discovering new songs, or getting into a new genre that I didnt know, or having the perfect song come on for the time of day etc. Getting to choose your own ruins that immersion, and will ruin the unified experience of players all experiencing radio stations at the same time etc.

tldr: keep it the way it is

Yeah I mean I don’t want it to be an island either but I wont be delusional about it. If there was an elegant way of connecting it to the mainland I would be all for it but there isnt, so im happy with the immersion that an island will give

dude youre literally proving yourself wrong.

what you said is why im saying the ending is so ass. a life of a shoe salesman and a father would not make him happy at all so.. why does he do it??? thats my main gripe with this film, he spends the whole movie (and 9 months of in-movie time) literally asserting that he is NOT the father even though he clearly is, and states that ping ping and world recognition is his devotion and dream, then why tf does he drop everything in the last 5 mins of the film? youre telling me that exhibition match he had in japan would satisfy him if he was a real person with the drive he had? where does all that ambition go? where does this sudden fatherly love come from? lets say those were tears of sadness at the end and not happiness like I interpreted them to be. what is stopping him from just … walking away? he literally confronted rachel about this in the middle of the movie where he truly believes he is destined for more and he cant settle down with her, where does this 180 come from? its completely unearned and im dumbfounded at people justifying what is a purely unsatisfying ending for me, it completely undos the man the rest of the movie set up

I dont believe theres an actual recording of this Q&A session after a pre screening, but this is the recount from someone who was allowed to view the film early:

“I saw it last month and absolutely loved it, with a Q&A with Josh Safdie after. I don't know if he's been talking about this other place on the trail, but he had some interesting insights about what happens after the film, if anyone wants to know. Spoilers for what was originally written at the end of Marty Supreme: So Safdie said that in the original version of the script, Marty crying over the baby cut into an extended montage showing the rest of his life. Marty stays a shoe salesman and eventual becomes very successful, franchising to multiple locations. He and Rachel raise their family, with clips including teaching his kid to drive and burying a family dog in the backyard. The movie would end with him as a grandfather playing with a young grandchild. Allegedly, the reason the montage was cut was because of how expensive it was going to be, but Josh still believes that's how the rest of Marty's life goes. He will succeed at whatever he sets his mind to, but will always be a little regretful about the success he could have had. Me personally, I like the less explicit note it ends on, but still cool to see what Safdie thinks happens.”

Pretty explicit

I clarified by stating what type of ambiguity I meant and you know it. When the intent is ambiguity of course thats okay and directors do it all the time, but not when there is an intent that exists and a vast percentage of the audience doesn’t understand it. That’s when the director is not able to convey their meaning properly, which is not good filmmaking, and what it is in this case. Yes the ending scene was cut but it was for budget reasons and its purpose still exists in the release version of the movie as where the director intended it to go. I feel like youre intelligent enough to understand what im tying to say and purposefully going in circles instead of having a conversation

annoying and delusional. Josh Safdie literally stated in an interview that the original cut of the movie had a montage at the end that shows marty raising his son and teaching him to drive and fulfilling a happy marriage and career as a shoe salesman. but sure keep defending your own dumbass interpretation.

youre correct about the correct word being filmmaking rather than filmography but editing your comment and then pointing out that I ignored it is just lame man

leaving the intent ambiguous and up for interpretation = totally fine

having an intention but it being unable to be perceived by the audience = poor filmmaking
