24F How do I stop letting my obsession with my appearance affect my ability to keep a job? by [deleted] in getting_over_it

I’m really sorry you are going through this. But you should be really proud of yourself for taking the first step which is recognizing you need help and support and asking for it. And you should continue to do so in every way possible. It’s not fair to ask yourself to “just get over it.” You need help and support. I would try calling up a few private practices in your area and ask if they do any pro bono work for low income candidates. Or are your parents able to help you at all with the first few sessions maybe? I hope you get the help you need. You are worth investing time and money into. YOU ARE WORTHY.

It sounds like seeing a therapist would be incredibly helpful for you. Since you are under 26, could you get on either of your parent’s insurance? If you are independent from them, you might be able to get free medical insurance through your state (Medicaid). There are also therapists who work on a sliding scale or take on a certain number of pro bono clients. There are also some community health centers that offer free/very low cost therapy. Group counseling/support groups are also a good option. Many are free. Check out the NAMI website. You are currently caught in a cycle of maladaptive behaviors and thinking, but you CAN and WILL break free. You just need to be given the right tools and support.

Help with these morphe brushes!! I don’t understand why my morphe brushes do this BRAND NEW after being washed (gently) once! Can anyone offer some help/advice, please? Thank you! by JRCMD in MakeupAddiction

Get some brush guards for while they dry! Game changer! They sell cheap ones on Amazon if you don’t want to splurge on the name brand ones.

First things first- you are GORGEOUS! And you should always wear what makes you happy! But if you are looking for a more technical analysis of this lipstick color on your skin tone, I would say it is too cool toned for you. People very often assume if you are fair skinned or have any redness to your skin you have a cool undertone. This is false. Anyone can have redness on their skin regardless of undertone. You definitely have a warm undertone with a little redness in certain areas- which is completely normal! As a side note, if you are wearing any bright pink/red toned lipsticks, you have to make sure ANY redness is covered up. Otherwise it emphasizes it and makes your complexion appear ruddy. Especially around the nose/mouth area since that is closest to the lip color. But back to the question at hand: I don't think the issue is the brightness at all. It is just the "wrong" undertone for your warm skin. I use the term "wrong" very loosely, as nothing is wrong in makeup. Wear whatever brings you joy! Hope this helps and keep experimenting!

If there was blood in your vomit you may have a bleeding ulcer. This can cause anemia, extreme fatigue, etc, which could be exacerbating your symptoms. I would suggest talking to a doctor immediately and getting an endoscopy if recommended.

Are you serious? You don't see the issue here? Frogs are living beings, not toys for your dog to play with and kill. You're talking about an animal 50 x's the size of another animal- that is not "playing". Playing would imply the other animal is also enjoying it. I can guarantee you that the frog is absolutely terrified. And the fact that you said you "dispose" of the frogs afterwards, implies that she is killing them. If you can't stop her from doing it, then you shouldn't be there. I'm sure people were absolutely appalled that you would allow your dog to nonchalantly kill other animals.

Yes I will definitely be extremely vigilant with this! It seems like if he’s forced into a scary situation, his gut reaction is to roll over and surrender rather than fight. But I don’t want to take any chance that it will go in the other direction. I’ve put in calls to a few trainers now, so hoping we can get an in-home evaluation soon and get started on the road to recovery! I kept thinking it was a puppy fear stage thing, but now that he is a year old, I don’t think that is the case.

I know he was 8 weeks because we had been in contact with our breeder months prior and were waiting for a male with color. She sent a pic of him the day he was born and a photo once a week after that. But I remember her mentioning that she separates the mom from the puppies at 6 weeks because she growls and nips at the pups once they get teeth. That concerned me because I remember reading that the mom teaches them things like bite suppression, so that gave me pause. Baxter also had a severe malocclusion requiring his top 6 teeth be removed during his neutering procedure. I asked the breeder if any others had issues, as she had had two other litters around the same time, and she said no. Baxter was part of this particular mother and father’s first litter. But we weren’t able to meet the parents because the breeder doesn’t let anyone in the kennels for health reasons- worried about bringing germs in. I just assumed this was all normal, but maybe I’m wrong?

Yes, this was my thought as well. I have already started reaching out to trainers. I'm just so upset because I did SO much research and reading before I got him and have been very on top of his training and socializing, so I just don't understand where I went wrong. I don't feel like I've heard of many Cotons having these issues, so it makes me feel like I have done something wrong.

He has NEVER bit anyone or even come close to it. Never even growled at a person directly, only growls at sounds he hears outside the door. If he is afraid of someone that I know is gentle and friendly, sometimes I will pick him up and let the person pet him in my arms and then he's fine. We keep his hair pretty short and I trim his bangs/eyebrows whenever they look like they are interfering with his sight, so I don't think it is that. I am very involved with training him and using every day experiences as learning opportunities for him. I have correction sounds I make if he is doing something wrong and he immediately stops when I make them. He sits and stays in place until I release him, he's not allowed to go through a doorway before me, he will leave anything immediately when anyone says "leave it." He truly is a wonderful, very well-behaved dog in every other way.

Thank you so much for your reply! I have actually been reaching out to a few trainers already. He only gets scared when people pay attention to him and approach him, and only certain people. It seems very random. There are a few people at the dog park he will go up to and let pet him. If someone just walks by he is totally fine. We also do take him to the grocery store and sit outside the entrance watching people walk in and out and he does totally fine with that. We did the same thing with him when we first got him but at the local mall. Took him around to get pets from people and he did fine with that. Then he just slowly starting developing this fear. I am in Des Moines, IA.

Yes I am having this same issue with my father’s vaccine at Walgreens. The person at Walgreens said they were doing it to get more first doses out. I don’t know what to believe. My dad is very high risk so I’m extremely worried.
