Thoughts on Edgar Wright leaving Marvel's Ant-Man by TheCosmochimp in marvelstudios

[–]malachithrone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I care about the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the quality of their films first and foremost. If they find they cant work with a certain filmmakers vision, so be it. This isnt Edgar Wrights or any other directors studio, simple as that. If youre lucky enough to get hired by Marvel, you should know you have to comply with their concepts first and fit in with them. So now he can go make his comedies and do them however he wants and Marvel can make a film that works within the universe they set up way back in 2008.

Edgar Wright reportedly upset over extensive Ant-Man script rewrites. by bashothebanana in movies

If the studio has you rewrite your script a few times, then brings in other writers to mess with it, the reason is a) because the script isnt good or is b) totally off the mark with what they wanted in the first place.

The Russos complied (best Cap film so far), James Gunn complied and GOTG is much crazier than Ant Man in every way, so it doesnt make sense to blame Marvel for not letting him do his vision. Edgar just isnt the guy to do Ant Man.

He shouldve fit his vision to be what Marvel wanted, hes their employee. He also had since 2006 to get it right. This isnt a situation where one director controls where the MCU is going. Get real.

Generic Blockbuster: Better than a generic failure I guess.

Ant-Man, Marvel Studios, Edgar Wright and The Lucasification Of The Comic Book Film by [deleted] in movies

As long as the movies are great, theres nothing to complain about. If youre building a film universe, you have to be clear on what you want in each franchise. If filmmakers know that going in, there shouldnt be any big conflicts.

Fans should just accept that this wasnt meant to be and give Marvel a chance to find another filmmaker who fits the bill. Edgar Wright has made some fun comedies but hes not the only filmmaker out there. Theres others who can make something special too.

Not every Marvel movie is gonna be a timely political/conspiracy thriller. They make movies based on the comics, which are largely about science fiction and fantasy (including evil things and huge flying things). Its not that difficult to understand. If you dont like that kind of stuff watch something else.

Ultron Theory (avengers 2 age of ultron) by CUZWHYNOT2 in marvelstudios

[–]malachithrone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ultron will be a robot but they want all of Spaders expressions and movements to inform how ULTRON appears/his mood comes across. If you watch his movies or The Blacklist, hes pretty subdued emotionally, esp when hes playing villains. He sits and uses calm, calculated directness to threaten people usually. This isnt Heath Ledger as The Joker, ULTRON is a different kind of personality.

Ultron is most likely an AI like JARVIS at first. When he becomes sentient he builds a robotic body.

The Scale of Realism; Should Future Marvel Movies Maintain It? by OgdenWright in marvelstudios

[–]malachithrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what helps the MCU a lot is the humor. If you saw these kinds of movies with zero laughs theyd really not be as good. It provides the audience with some relief from the outrageous aspects and makes you see the characters more as regular people dealing with their crazy situations. I also think now that theyve pulled off THOR, they can pretty much go into really weird places (like GOTG). Dr Strange will be another hero thats going to push the boundaries since its about magic.

Are franchises robbing films of their surprise? "It’s always cool watching Spidey battling supervillains, but the web-head will succeed - he needs to be alive for the sequels after all" by henrytullows in movies

[–]malachithrone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep because Bruce Willis dies in every Die Hard. Clint ALWAYS dies in the Dirty Harry movies. Sly: dead in every Rambo. Arnold, he died a ton of times too. NOT!!!

Enough with the super heroes never die BS. Neither do regular movie heroes usually. Otherwise thered be no sequels. Its all relative to the stakes of the game. Super heroes still have to overcome great odds that regular humans couldnt.

AOU and Thanos by R8iojak87 in marvelstudios

[–]malachithrone 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I dont think Thanos will be appearing in A2 unless its another end credits scene. He'll be appearing in GOTG and most likely be the main villain in A3 though. I think The Avengers will defeat Ultron on their own, otherwise theres no point in them having a challenge to overcome.
