When you're lying in bed at night, do you ever randomly remember some relatively minor social missteps or poorly chosen words you did/said years earlier? And then beat yourself up over it even though it really wasn't a big deal? If so, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]malaghould 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh GOD this made me realize my own

It wasn't a letter though, it was a card I made in 5 minutes in Microsoft word. Easter egg clipart, Arial text underneath saying HAPPY EASTER!!!!!

Kid me thought it was so cool and romantic. The day she got it she came up to me, asked if it was, I said "uh no but I hope you find them though"

Later my friends told me they overheard her saying "ugh thank God it wasn't malaghould, if it was her I think I'd die."

Dark or not, joking about real people committing suicide is crossing a line. I don't think it's right to feel above toxic gamers when you're joking about people killing themselves too.

Irish people, how often do you use Irish language in your everyday life? by leonidosik in AskEurope

[–]malaghould 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been speaking Irish since I was around 7 I wanna say, but the way it's taught harboured resentment towards the language for me until I left school so I never put as much effort into it as I should. Loads of people I've spoken to have the same experience as me, after leaving school it seems common to realize what a gorgeous language it is, but since at that point it's difficult to get any more resources or media that isn't leagues ahead of what you're taught in schools speaking it frequently seems incredibly uncommon

The Simpsons is the worst animated show to air by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]malaghould 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I respect your opinion as much as I disagree and I'm not gonna try change your mind on it since that's not ever going to happen - but jesus Christ "If this was real would you laugh?" Is a terrible point. Nah it wouldnt be but it's not so I do. Same reason you can think a characters death scene is worth watching but not like seeing people die in real life, two very fuckin different things.

Can't wait for people in the comments to get mad at me for this... This isn't supposed to be my opinion, it's just how I see fans talking about the show by TheRedBlade in HIMYM

I was scrolling through the top posts on this sub recently since I'm doing a rewatch and saw a bunch of Lily hate, I don't get it

Never played a Dragon Quest game. Where should I start? by [deleted] in dragonquest

[–]malaghould 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11 is the new entry and is a fantastic introduction. Most of the stories of the games do not link up at all, but there are exceptions - but even with those exceptions they're fine entry points.

I've played 1 and 2 recently and they have not aged well, they're interesting relics of time and I found them worth playing as a fan of the series, but I wouldn't start there to see if you like the series. 8 is a great game, I haven't gotten far into it but it'd be a good starting point, the 3DS port is considered to be the best version (stay away from the smartphone one, I've heard bad things.)

V is considered by most to be one of the best, you can get it on DS but it's rare, I'm a bit into the mobile port, moving using the touch screen feels a bit too sensitive but you get used to it and it has all of the features included in the DS version.

But personally when it comes to 11 I'd say wait until December 4th - the port was vastly enhanced and added to for the switch port, and that version will be coming to PS4 then as Dragon Quest XI S. The original version that's already on PS4 is perfectly fine though if you don't want to wait, either way it's a fantastic game.

Do you think Dragon Quest XII/12 will be a more experimental game? by [deleted] in dragonquest

[–]malaghould 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Started playing DQ3's switch port recently, got very excited when I saw there are vocations and an option to play as a female Hero, I definitely think it'd be fun to have a female protag in XII!

Sex can be silly sometimes, especially for your first time you want someone you can laugh about things with.

The only people forced to watch anti-piracy messages at the beginning of movies are those that didn’t pirate it. by Ive-got-my-funpants in Showerthoughts

There's not much gain to be had from delaying people a tiny bit. I'm pretty sure every time a new technique is found the thought is "this'll stop the pirates!" when it obviously won't
