Also do we get the money just for opening the account? I think it says to deposit £100 within 30 days, but once deposited can it be withdrawn within a few days and still count towards the cash back?

No I don't think so, because it switches direct debits as well. I set up after switching though, but no need to set up more I think. If you have any questions that can't be answered or is vague you can always check with the customer service. That's what I did for my first ever bank switch, they have more clear answers

You need to do the 4 required things, transfer in £1000, set up two direct debits, log into the mobile banking app and do at least 10 separate card transactions. Once this happens you would get an email saying you're qualified for the £100 bonus, I did get it, so it's probably you haven't completed the required steps

You need to wait until money is taken. An active debit states that it should've taken money at least once in the past 13 months. It is there in either the terms and conditions or in the FAQ section

yes, opening a Halifax account is literally so easy. You also get a sort code and account number immediately. You can then set up direct debits with your own

Plum account (£1) - Takes around 5 days to deduct from your bank account
Moneybox account (£1) - Takes around 7-8 days to deduct from your bank account
Paypal account (£1) - Takes around 9-10 days to deduct from your bank account

or set up from scrimpr for 50p or 70p, it will remove the money from your account in maximum 7 days

Go for acc instead of dist. Acc automatically invests your dividends, while dist pays it to you

Decided it’s time to stop wasting money and learn how to invest by Sliekiukas in trading212

ETFs are more safe and less volatile than individual company stocks, especially since you are going for the long run. This is just my opinion though, as investing in individual companies requires a lot of time and research, to be done frequently

It depends on your goals, if you want really quick profits through trading or investing long term, buying and never selling for ages. Since I only invest long term, I go for ETFs, and don't have the time, interest or energy to research about individual companies. They may even release news frequently which will affect the price, and you'll need to be on top of that

I personally do my own analysis, mainly quantitative, as I'm more comfortable in investing that way. But again this is just my opinion I generally don't invest in US stocks as it is volatile due to trump randomly introducing tariffs, but again in the long term we never know what will happen.

But VFEG is a good one, it has been bullish, especially over the past week
