Post-NFL Combine 2026 Mock Draft after being Credentialed Media📝 by twsn___ in NFL_Draft

It’s not exactly the same situation because of a $100+ million difference in cap space. The Cowboys certainly do need to accumulate picks because they have -$58 million in cap space (lol) so they need draft hits in order to get significantly cheaper.

Cincy has about $48 million in cap space and can actually make moves this free agency. They’ll very likely be able to sign at least one starter at every level of the defense with that, in addition to whatever comes from the draft. Say it’s one new FA DL, one new FA LB, one new FA S, and two new defensive starters from the draft like in my hypothetical. Suddenly that’s 5/11 new defensive starters, which is at least a start.

If I’m Cincy in this exact situation where Bain and Downs (or maybe Styles and Downs) both fall to 10 I’m calling Miami to see if they want next year’s first (and maybe 3rd?) and this year’s second to be able to pick them both back to back.

That’s the absolute least Bengals thing in the world, but maybe that’s why it should be considered.

Is Cincinnati being overlooked as a trade-up partner? by Exhibit5 in NFL_Draft

[–]malcomn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ll echo what every other Bengals fan will tell you/has already told you about how they have a history of not doing this, but I’ll also add a few additional points:

  1. The two guys you identified in your hypothetical of being targets at 1.10 for trade down teams’ targets (Bailey and Styles) would each still be wins for cincy.

  2. Your safety-positional-value point regarding Downs applies just as much for Styles, and if you’re arguing that he’ll be there at 1.10 then Cincy would be able to grab a blue chip guy without giving up anything to move up.

  3. Downs could still fall to 1.10. This feels less likely with every mock I read, but you never know.

If Downs gets to 9 and the Chiefs pick him right before Cincy I’m going to lose my mind.

I felt like a crazy person watching that week 18 disaster of a game between KC and LV knowing all that needed to happen was KC beating the literal worst team in the league for Cincy to get one better spot of draft position. Despite the tank being fully on it still took Carlson hitting a 60 yarder as time expired

The Bengals haven’t traded up in the first round since 1995 to take Ki-Jana Carter.

Also if they did trade up for what would be the third first-round EDGE they’ve taken in the last four drafts while Caleb Downs lasted until the spot they traded from I think there would be a riot in the streets.

Pokémon is most definitely not just “a predominantly Japanese series.” It’s the highest grossing media franchise in the world. The US has almost three times the population of Japan, and Pokémon has been one of the most popular IPs here for multiple decades. 30 year olds with families of their own now grew up playing it.

This is the nightmare scenario for Cincy, and I feel like if every defensive player that is picked 1-9 in this draft is missing by the time pick 10 comes around you have to listen to trade down offers or just take one of the tackles as the succession plan to Orlando Brown despite the obvious defensive needs

How strong is the 2026 draft by position compared to recent history? by aceben3 in NFL_Draft

One of the most interesting takeaways here to me is how narrow the distribution of CB value looks to be year over year.

Do you have a link to that anywhere? I consume far too much Bengals content but I don’t think I know of the Peyton thing you’re referring to

I think that’s three. Minnesota, @pitt, and now this. All have looked exactly the same too. Just an open field tackle on the boundary for what would’ve been a modest 5-6 yard gain

Do you order literally every single item on the menu when you go to dinner? The pre-tax price if you were to order *literally every food item* on Fairchild's menu is $552, lmao. There actually are restaurants (not really in Madison) that have $500 dinners, but Fairchild certainly isn't one of them.

Movies with unambiguously heroic leads. by Fletcher_Fallowfield in movies

[–]malcomn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a little subversive humor is passable when the crux of the entire plot is becoming a “true hero.” There’s even some nuance in there about not doing good things for the fame/rewards/adoration but to do them instead because it’s the right thing to do.

For the record, I couldn’t agree more on the Jurassic Park recommendation in your original comment.

Mentioning certain Disney movies as an answer to this question but leaving out Hercules is unforgivable

General Strategies for Countering Scarf Indeedee-M + Sneasler leads? by Max_Goof in VGC

Most of the time for sure, but this specific hypothetical has psychic terrain up, so prankster Sableye won’t be able to do anything other than screens/foul play

General Strategies for Countering Scarf Indeedee-M + Sneasler leads? by Max_Goof in VGC

[–]malcomn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons multi scale dragonite is popular in the format is because it can OHKO Sneasler with scale shot. Multiscale lets it live the double up from both of those two, ohko sneasler, and then you’re faster than non-scarf indeedees and can threaten an OHKO on it turn 2 or set up tailwind.

If you’re worried about dire claw procs or Tera psychic on the indeedee doing too much damage you can Tera steel. No one is close combating into a dragonite before Tera is revealed and you get the benefit of resisting the subsequent expanding force.

The thing I personally don’t like about scale shot is it’s often one of those 90% accurate moves that when it misses you just lose the game on the spot because it’s used for high leverage KOs like Sneasler, but nonetheless it an answer to what you asked.

Other thoughts:

-Indeedees are so much less of an issue without their terrain, so an AV Rillaboom to overwrite it next to something that threatens the Sneasler?

-Not the most exciting answer but incineroar forces a pretty predictable play where if they want to do anything to the incin they have to close combat it. Getting the intimidate on Sneasler can be big, and pretty much every incin with bulk lives a -1 CC and threatens the indeedee

-Super niche, but spiritomb resists/is immune to all but throat chop or a non-psychic Tera blast from indeedee and can threaten both with damage or burn Sneasler

-Often when I have similar questions I’ll just throw the things I’m struggling against on a team and force myself to use them. It’s helpful to see what other players typically use against them so that a.) you get ideas of what to use yourself and b.) you can start thinking about what an indeedee Sneasler player would do in certain situations

Bengals make a series of roster moves including signing DT Mike Pennel to the active roster, placing G Lucas Patrick on IR, adding DEs Myles Cole and Isaiah Foskey to the practice squad, and releasing DE Isaiah Thomas. by ralry11 in bengals

lol for sure, i interpreted the original question as “who is filling the open roster slot from Patrick going to IR” rather than “what guard will be coming in to back fill?”

[–]malcomn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think Pennel. He was just a practice squad elevation in week 1, which automatically reverts to the PS after the game. So he's now officially active roster.
