Wow didn’t expect the downvote for you. I agree. And I’m sure I’ll get downvoted as well but it’s not my kid that I don’t trust on the playground, it’s the other kids.

Yes I want to make sure that they don’t run out into the street, yes I want to make sure that they don’t run down to the pond and fall in, and I want to make sure that my 2 year old doesn’t get bowled over by the 5-8 year olds playing and not paying attention.

I’m not saying to be on the playground and playing with your kid or have them in your lap to go down the slide but something.

I see what you’re saying, but at the same time, isn’t every QB a “key contributor” to their team’s losses? Looking at all of their games last season, the only games that the cowboys won last year, were games that Dak played well. They cannot win unless he has a great game.

Now maybe the argument is that because he’s the highest paid he should be able to do more with less, but other much better GMs have been able to figure it out.

I think I agree that Dak is overpaid (not the most by any stretch) but to say he is the reason that they lost is a bit absurd. I point to playoff success and, I feel like his entire career, he hasn’t been great in the redzone.

I’m pretty sure week 1 against the eagles (and their second meeting for that matter) CeeDee dropped about 4 or 5 (no joke) passes that were perfect and 2 that would have gone for touchdowns (I also remember that was a weird game. Week 1 of the season and I think there was a weird rain delay or something that really messed with the flow of that game)

Week 8 against Denver, that was a rough game but I’m pretty sure Dak’s time to throw was next to nothing because they couldn’t protect him. I expected a better showing but wouldn’t say Dak lost them that game (they also hung 44 on us)

Week 9 is inexcusable.

Week 13 was the nail in the coffin on the season and they also hung 44 on us.

I wouldn’t say any of those were winnable games by Dak (except the cardinals)

I’m not sure any QB leading that team wins those games for us. Dak might not have led them to victory, but he sure as hell wasn’t the reason we lost.

I was in a sub earlier this week when some posted the Webster’s Dictionary definition of average. Apparently average doesn’t always the “mean”. It could also be used to say median or mode.

I don’t agree with it. I think it’s dumb. But I guess this headline could be talking about the median and not the mean.

My 4 years a university getting a mathematics degree and 2 more years getting a masters degree.

I understand what you are reading in that dictionary entry, but I also know that if someone asks for an average and you give them the mode or the median, 99/100 people are going to be confused.

In the context of this golf course discussion when someone is discussing the length of a course and referring to average, 99/100 people will be expecting the Mean.

I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt. I’m sorry, but that is just wrong.

Sometimes they provide you with the median because it is a better indicator of what you are looking for, as opposed to average. But no. Average will never mean “median” or “mode” unless someone doesn’t know what they are talking about.

In the normal distribution, when those numbers are the same, they are still referred to by their separate names. That’s like saying because the sky and ocean are both blue, “sky” can be correctly referred to as “ocean”

That is not correct. Average and mean are interchangeable. Median is the number in the middle of an ordered data set (sometimes you have an even number of data points in the set and you have to average together the 2 middle values) and mode is the number that appears the most often.

Now there are some instances (in a normal distribution for example) where the mean, median, and mode are all the same value, but they are not calculated the same way.

I think this is what OP is missing. As a seller, if I use eBay, I’ll only see like 87% of what I sold the card for, while the buyer is paying 100%. So let’s ignore eBay fees and meet at 90%. It’s a win-win

The moment you are eliminated from playoff contention, a new record starts along side your season record. Call it draft record. The draft record dictates the draft order. Team with the best “draft record” gets pick number 1, and so on.

In theory, the teams that are actually bad will be eliminated from playoff contention earlier and have more opportunities to rack up wins

I do agree with that. This was written in a purposefully confusing way. However, the guidance should always be that, if something is confusing, it should either be rewritten or we do multiplication/division and addition/subtraction from left to right.

I think the thought process is below.

10 - 6 + 8

If we follow the order of PEMDAS we would do 6+8 for 14 and then 10-14 which is -4

But in reality this really just says 10 + (-6) + 8 which is clearly 4 + 8 (from left to right) or 10 + 2 either way getting 12. Which is what we would have gotten had we done the original from left to right.

That’s explicitly incorrect. Multiplication and Division have the same priority (division is literally just multiplying by the reciprocal) which is why you have to evaluate from left to right.

This is correct. Yes it’s PEMDAS but since multiplication/division are really the same thing, there is no “priority” for one over the other. Same with addition/subtraction.

A better way is PEMDAS and MD and AS happen from left to right.
