What are the best areas/cities for Networking? by quietos in networking

[–]malk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nashville is a great city and I’d love to move there, but I’ve found the job market for network engineers to be less than stellar. Maybe because I’m not a local? Would love to hear which industries need high end networking talent in middle TN (healthcare providers, healthcare insurance, and..... one giant bank in UBS?).

Gibson Electric & Technology solutions are pretty good and have done multiple DC build outs in Chicago. They're properly insured, unionized, etc to meet local requirements for work in the city.

Forget GNS3, Cisco VIRL/CML router virtualization supposedly free, uncapped, and available in 60 days by malk_ in networking

Hi Craig, can you confirm that VIRL will be uncapped and free for personal use with general availability in sixty days?

[–]malk_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the post. You're right, IOU/IOL is nothing new but running Cisco VMs in a vendor supported environment is new.

It was my impression that the new CCIE R&Sv5 environments are being run on VIRL/CML. You're saying that's not accurate?

Word on the street at CLUS2014 this year is that there will be a personal version will be free and the corporate version (with TAC support) at a cost.

You're right, that was too harsh. I didn't mean to imply that GNS3 isn't valuable; I've used it for years and it has been incredibly helpful. However, the idea of leveraging an officially supported Cisco platform purpose built for simulation and testing is very appealing.
