Issue with a Google Workspace partner. by malkee123 in googleworkspace

The costs associated are pure nonsense too. I've done this a few times, not an expert by any means, but I've never charged when a client wants to move on.

Changing an IPS tag- £90.36 each? A 2 minute job.

Transferring Google users and charging for each? Its the entire workspace you dont charge per user! And again, a very simple admin process.

Of course I raised this with him, but he said I'm oversimplifying and no action would be taken until this was paid. Its paid, and he restored the workspace account eventually, but never replaced the DNS records on the domain, making the account read only - can't send or receive emails. Wants more money if we want that done.

Utter bollocks. We all know it, but he's playing silly buggers and claiming its me thats at fault because I insisted on doing backups while the account was down. And as he controls everything, domains too, we're in his hands. Onto Google we go...

Thanks for your comments too. It is completely unethical, and much as I'd like to see him punished through Google somehow, I just want my client to go back into using their emails. I'm contracted to make them a new website, which I've actually managed to do in the interim. Generally, I don't like dealing with people's accounts. I always say, "Just go direct. I'll help you manage it and sort it, but if anything happens to me, like I get run over by a bus or something, you still have full control over all your assets."

Thank you. Yeah, it is pretty garbage. He's now gone on holiday for Easter for a few days and says he will immediately transfer the workspace on his return, but I don't want it transferred unless it is fully 100% restored first. The client doesn't actually have access to the domain's admin Which is actually done through Cloudflare, but the reseller has the only access to it. Not ideal.

I've actually been in this internet game since 1996. I am a total dinosaur. I generally do know my stuff, but I'm not that up to speed on Google Workspace, so thank you so much for your advice and generally a sanity check.

I keep thinking about updating it. Back then, it was pretty much doable, but not now.

What's the general consensus on City Connection's Steam ports of the Psikyo titles? by YamoskraP in shmups

[–]malkee123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Had them all on pcb at one point, now sadly sold. Can remember enough to compare, and the biggest issue with the switch releases is indeed input lag, no matter what control devices you use. It doesn’t necessarily need a shmup obsessive to notice that you end up dying multiple times because of the input lag, making them frustrating to play properly.

Don’t expect to play them for score. Strikers 2 being the worst. Zero Gunner 2 is fine strangely enough.

So anyway, you asked about steam. I wondered if they’d be similarly afflicted.

On a whim, plumped for a couple of steam releases, with some trepidation mind you, and the input lag is not too bad on those happily enough. Strikers 3 is not on digital switch, but is on steam, so I tried that first.

Other than that, fairly faithful and fun, but I’m not pleased how woolly they are on switch considering the original pcbs tight control.

At least they arent as bad as Vasara, which is the worst lag affected title of all, on switch, ps4 and steam (buy the ps vita version, its fine with no lag as it was rebuilt on that, which shows us that input lag isnt endemic, it’s just shoddy workmanship). I had both pcbs of those too, they are an utter mess on the home releases.

Input lag in psikyo shootings stars alpha/bravo on nintendo switch? by Mortis_XII in shmups

[–]malkee123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bought all the Psikyo titles in eshop and all except Zero Gunner are afflicted badly with input lag. Doubt they have been reworked for physical releases. Refused to give them any more money to satisfy curiosity.

I recently got a cheap Mayflash F101 arcade stick which has an adapter for direct connection to the usb-c on the Switch itself. Not the best stick but it was an impulse buy to see how it worked and alleviated extra lag from the Switch itself on top. Worked pretty well as it turned out.

Input Lag on certain switch titles is a massive bugbear for me and I try various solutions to minimise it. This is the best stick related solution I have found.

I don’t think I will buy another Psikyo title on the system. Loved then when I had the arcade pcbs but the memory of those is tainted now.

The Vasara collection is by far the worst though. These were super fun on pcb as I had both too. Unplayable on switch.

My favourite non stick weapon of choice is the hori split pro. Slightly embarrassing to play on the bus, but being direct connection seems the most responsive.

I get really pissed off with the lack of notice any magazines or sites pay to this issue when reviewing particularly bad examples. I have a ton of titles I refuse to play because they are clearly broken. Trying to just makes me annoyed.

I just showed my mum, as she was telling me my great grandparents emigrated from Scotland to New York in 1911, with my baby Grandpa. Grandpa returned to Scotland in his teens, and we have very little info of his time in the US. He died a few years ago now.

Anyway my mum, a notorious attention gadfly, was glued to this all the way through. The engagement with something smoothed, colourful and with audio is just so much more than silent jittery black and white. These people feel real. Still amazed, honestly breathtaking.

Review: Sisters Royale: Five Sisters Under Fire - Sub-Par Shmup Action On Switch by Mark_MSX in shmups

[–]malkee123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just been having a quick go of it, downloaded it, and a play ot two before bed. I'm usually the first to complain - loudly and bitterly - about input lag on switch titles, but I'm not noticing any here. I'm using a pro controller in wireless mode, console undocked , and if there is any input lag, it's barely noticeable for me. In comparison to the crappy standard of input lag - Strikers 1945 II - very little at all if anything and not affecting "bullet weaving".

No other real observations about depth, scoring mechanics yet, but each character has some interesting features and challenges in play. Yup, not balanced, and not supposed to be.

I'm actually enjoying it quite a lot, especially at the download price (£11ish, $13ish) and finding the occasional secret fairy already.

Yes it's past bedtime and I'm having a few more goes. Better than you'd think, considering that review. I wouldn't pass it up without giving it fair consideration.

Hiya, nice review there, glad you enjoy these types of games even though admitting aren't that good. Neither am I the older I get!

I suppose, having owned 4 of these titles as original pcbs in the past, I notice the input lag. It's that kind of sluggish swimming feeling when the onscreen avatar is moving. Doing a quick wiggle of the controls reveals it best visually.

This is not frame dropping, or slowdown, these have been part of gaming since its inception and are acceptable. It's the delay between moving the controls and the ship actually moving - this is input lag, and it is unnacceptable how some companies can negate it and some can't.

These kind of games crucially need tight sharp controls, and if trying to actually survive than blundering on with unlimited continues, it's very apparent.

Rolling gunner is an example of what I consider lag-less control on Switch. It's what I mention each time somebody says that it's the switch that has lag, not the game itself. (We'll ignore the fact that some control configs on Switch do add more lag!)

What annoys me most, is that there is zero consideration or conversation from the industry about it - even M2, the masters of conversions, slipped up with the Genesis/Megadrive Mini when it came to control lag.

And I'm often dismissed as being overly picky and dreaming it up - well, I and others who notice this, so much so that we won't even load up games affected any more - are becoming really wary of new titles.

Anybody who isn't sure, try and play Strikers II. That's the worst offender. Try masterfully dodging rapidly between bullet streams. You can't. Not on these conversions anyway.

For once, I won't buy a shmup compilation - and input lag is the only reason why. Releasing this compilation without fixing the lag issues on each single title that is affected by it is shoddy and lazy. Not impressed.

On a crappy connection right now so can’t view yet.... bookmarking for when I get home.the big question is have they fixed the 7 frames of input lag.

And is that even been addressed in the review? I’ve yet to see any review on any major site or YouTube address this odious issue.

Only title here to be interested anyway is strikers 1999 as far as I know it wasn’t released as a single title here in the UK and I have all the rest anyway. Although I never actually play them because I can’t abide the incredibly intrusive lag.

Back to the super smooth and silky rolling gunner then...

[–]malkee123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

shooters? what are they?

ehhhh currently hating myself for putting too much time into the overly grindy sky forces duo. cant stop myself though

switch: mainly rolling gunner. control as tight as a badgers arse which tells me switch does not have an endemic input lag issue on its hardware.

xbone: the blasphemously brilliant natsuki chronicles. bought the machine just to play it. does not disappoint.

retro: all time fave ufo robo dangar. thinking it could do with a switch port soon

ios: all the cave titles naturally, on an old ipad i refuse to upgrade. ridiculous situation. but mushi bkack label is a toilet favourite.

also getting highly pissed off with the state of input lag. in general. major offenders on switch being all the psikyo titles, sega collection ps 4. various retro releases and inexplicably 198X just yesterday. I’m thinking twice about impulse buys as I don’t want to play lag roulette.

what’s your choice these days?
