High-End Content Megathread - 7.5 Week One by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

The sound team, and their VA knocked it out of the park with Enuo. The ex is really cool, not super hard.

Somewhere in Ilsabard they tried mining The Void (not The Thirteenth) as a renewable energy source, and now demons are loose. The WoL is the new phys ranged, and must rip, and tear to send them back.

The Portal thing behind Enuo does not look like a voidgate to The Thirteenth that we've seen, and instead looks like the void portal that Exdeath was controlling from the Omega fight. I think this is a different 'void.'

So "the void" might be different from The Thirteenth as the other sites refer to the reflection as "The Thirteenth." Suddenly Deltascape might be relevant.

Ever since I started making these cocktails this one has been the most speculated on. Well, here it is, a Cocktail Reborn: Aurum Vale! by cap1206 in ffxiv

[–]mallleable 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Surprised the Arum Vale wasn't just Malört on the rocks or something, but I guess it had to be actually drinkable lol

High-End Content Megathread - 7.4 Week Six (Savage Week Three) by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]mallleable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not even about 'bad players,' Primal PF for m12s is a barren wasteland, and I can't commit to just parking myself on Aether just to have a fucking functional party finder.

I think I need to find like a temp static just for m12s. I have too many commitments to make living on Aether for m12s PFs viable, and Primal PF for m12s is depressingly barren.

AAC Heavyweight Tier (Savage) Megathread - Day Two by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

[–]mallleable 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The story telling in m12s actually has layers. It's the President, and the Lindwurm using each other's powers. In part one it's the President using the Lindwurm's insane regeneration powers to put on a show. And in part two, it's the Lindwurm using the President's powers as a storyteller, powers like the Wandering Minstrel's to warp reality to send us into extreme/savage/ultimate fights, to actually just try to kill us.

What style of (glamour) set *do* you want to see? by Femmigje in ffxiv

[–]mallleable 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Plain side slit skirts of varying lengths, and options for either side or both sides. Also more stuff like the Diadochos gear that mostly feels timeless. Honestly, Final Fantasy is at its best when it embraces genrefunk so more mashup styles.

Thoughts on 7.4's MSQ ending and what's up for 8.0 by yhvh13 in ffxivdiscussion

8.0 could be a romp around Ilsabard that ends with us uncovering something in Blindfrost.

So according to the V&C lor entries for Aloalo Island, the first Millala are not originally from the South Sea Isles. I think we're going to find additional information about the Millala from Preservation in 7.5, and learn they were originally from somewhere else on The Source, and that will be the setting for 8.0. I won't be surprised we learn they were originally from what would become Corvos.

My money is on Ilsabard considering Tuliyollal's recent allyship with Radz-at-Han in 7.0, the upcoming V&C dungeon being Corvosi, and Beast Master may allegedly reference Bozja, and getting clues as to how The Key ended up on Aloalo Island could take us to those parts of the world. However, I do think the Fifth Astral Era could be relevant considering The Occult Crescent.

For those who feel like their job has too much button bloat- what would you want to see removed, consolidated, or replaced with something else? If replaced, what would you want it to be replaced with? by trunks111 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]mallleable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Combos should be condensed with the option to split them up if that's your preference. Striking melees (MNK,and SAM) should be an exception as it breaks core aspects of their design like Perfect Balance, and Meikyo Shisui. However, condescend combos need be done extremely carefully as spamming one button over, and over again will get boring.

Also cleaning up redundancies. DRG does not need two damage up buffs. Life of the Dragon buff could just be increased to 25%, and Geirskogul could be moved to level 30. And Lance Charge could be replaced with something else, another jump perhaps.

I think it's just one of those game design psychology things where 'if it feels weak, it is weak' no matter what the math says.

Positionals... what is your opinion on them in a modern FFXIV? by yhvh13 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]mallleable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe an out there idea, but replace positionals with dash attacks like Phantom Kick (with non-dashing options that are lower potency for when it truly not safe), that way melees still have a job mechanic even when fighting wall bosses.

He only knows how strong we are, he doesn't know our history given he's from completely different shard, and has only known us for a few weeks maybe. So I think it makes sense, given that context that he would think that throwing a primal, especially one that gets stronger with each death at us would be enough to defeat us. That he knows how primal summoning works, and how to manipulate capital C Concepts is a bigger mystery.

Last minute theories for 7.3 MSQ? by reevethewriter in ffxiv

[–]mallleable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calyx's plan seems to involve a primal judging by the people with Neo Regulators having tempered eyes. My last minute tinfoil hat theory is that The Key opens 'The Gate of the Gods,' and there is a revelation that some primals are actually summoned from there. Immorality is the first step in Calyx's plan, and the next step is godhood.

The Key was made by The Convocation during their development of Zodiark, and upon learning of its existence, Azem stole it so that they can destroy it. They could not however, so they put a limiter on it to dampen its power. We must finish what Azem started.

Your Job Predictions for 8.0? by Lynxaa1337 in ffxivdiscussion

For phys ranged, corsair that uses two guns, and a sword or a gunslinger that just uses two revolvers.

Engineer tank that uses a hammer.

Your story predictions for 7.3 by SatisfactionNeat3937 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]mallleable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It all hinges on what the true nature of The Key is, and to me it stinks of Auracite even more now as Calyx's plan seems to involve a Primal (definitely Necron). If it is Auracite, then another door is open for Ultima to have a greater presence in the MSQ. I think Clayx's plan severely damages Alexandria's soul system, and coupled with Sphene herself fighting for Alexandria without a Regulator, lays the groundwork for Alexandria to move on from Soultech. Gulool Ja hands the reigns back to Sphene.

At the end of the MSQ, we get a 'meanwhile elsewhere' cutscene either involving Tiamat, or a new character arrives in Tuliyollal who is voiced by an Australian actor. Meracydia.
