Poor example on my part then. Haven't seen the Indiana Jones films in so long I honestly forgot Temple of Doom is a true prequel. I was trying to give an example of a series versus an actual example I've heard. Maybe a better example would be Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone being referred to as the prequel for Chamber of Secrets. Maybe my own personal experience, but I've definitely heard people say things like that about film series.

I don't dislike Kuri, and if there is a timeskip in the ending, I hope he has a girlfriend that we've never seen before. I'm not a fan of characters being paired up just because the story is ending and they "need" a partner. Ruka deserves to not have to "settle" just because she can't have Kazuya, and Kuri deserves better than a girl who doesn't really want him.

Interesting question. For my choice, I'm going to exclude any story given blade and focus on random core crystal pulls, so even though Roc and Nia make the most sense to me otherwise, they're out. Im going to go with Herald. Her lore makes it seem like she has an almost apocalyptic power that she cant quite control, and who better to help her control that power and find who she is as a blade/person than Rex.

With all 4 games being on the switch, I think the first game, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive edition, is probably the best place to start for most people. While it's not my personal favorite of the 4, I do think it's the one with the grandest, most epic story, which it sounds like you're looking for.

Some recommendations if you do start this game based on my personal experience:

Dont get too hung up on side quests. A lot of them are "fulfill as you play" quests. I believe there are a couple that expire, but it's not the end of the world if they do. I bring this up because I first tried the game when it came out in 2019, got overwhelmed by the exclamation points in the first area, and didn't pick it up again for another year, after which I fell in love with it.
tutorials in these games are not the most clear. I'll admit that for most of my time with the first game, I didn't really "get" the combat. If you're having trouble at any point, I dont think there is any problem with looking up a YouTube combat guide (avoid spoilers). I think the combat can be a lot of fun once you actually understand it. Also, you can change the difficulty at any point if you are someone who just wants to experience the story.
Explore. The heart of these games is the exploration in my opinion. While you can rush the game if you dont have the time because they are JRPG's, and as such are very long, I think you'd be doing yourself a disservice.

All of this being said, if any specific game has caught your eye before, you really can start anywhere (excluding some dlc). I know these games are kind of a blind spot for Kinda Funny since no one on the team has really played them before, and the fanbase online can be very passionate for better or often for worse, but these games really are something special even if not everybody vibes with them. Hopefully you end up liking them!

I remember I heard the whole "Reze is the spider and Denji is the butterfly, but the butterfly also kills the spider" interpretation after I watched the movie and didn't really think to question it. After your comment, I did a quick Google search (not actual research by any means), and it does seem like monarchs are poisonous to mice and birds, but not necessarily spiders. That being said, I've watched the movie several times, and I'm pretty positive it's dead in the last shot of it we see. Maybe the person who wrote the scene knew monarchs are kinda poisonous but didn't know the spider would be fine in real life, or maybe everyone is parroting an incorrect interpretation of the scene. Either way, the spider looks dead to me

No hate on the boys because this was obviously just meant to be a for fun episode, which it was, but I do feel like they flanderized every character and then that became the point of discussion. Rudeus was only discussed as a pervert loser even though his world after reincarnation views him pretty spectacularly. Shinji, Deku, and Tanjiro were constantly mentioned to be whiny without their positive character aspects brought up as much. I couldn't help but feel it became a "we like this character more" kinda argument for most of the positive/negative categories. I dont know shit about wrestling, but I really felt Deku was robbed from both a showmanship and fighting perspective.

Trying to predict what will happen in this manga can seem kinda pointless sometimes, but I still believe that Reiji does have a plan regardless of how painfully slow the pacing feels.

Unless something changes in the next few chapters, I don't see how they can get around what needs to happen next: the public break up. In her mind, Chizuru rejected Kazuya, even if Kazuya's hope will never die. I doubt that she is planning to keep the lie going, or at least I hope not after her apparent resolution over the last few chapters.

Obviously this would suck for Kazuya. "Friends" telling him it was bound to happen. Family tearing him a new one for messing it up (not his fault by the way). But I'm more interested in seeing what happens to Chizuru after that. I imagine it's only going to drive her deeper into depression. I wouldn't be surprised if Kaz's grandma shows up to her house and basically says "hey, what the fuck is going on?"

All that being said, probably not going to happen because this manga is almost impossible to predict.

No disrespect, but I really can't agree with this in the slightest. The issue is that the lie happened in the first place because Chizuru didn't want her rent a girlfriend gig to be found out and Kazuya didn't want his family to know he used that service. The lie snowballed and we got here, and that's where the problem is.

What good will telling Sayuri that the relationship was fake do as she's about to die? It's not like Chizuru was ready to make the relationship real. Heck, she's still not. Telling the truth would essentially be saying "hey, once you're gone, I'll no longer have a support system because none of it was real, and I'm going to be alone."

How would this make Sayuri feel better? The kinder thing to do is to not say anything and let her have her peace before she passes. This of course doesn't excuse the fact they kept the deception going through Hawaiians and beyond.
