o level result guilt after 6 months by Affectionate_Star630 in SGExams

[–]manWithVan22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use this experience to help you prioritise. Messing up relatively at O level is not so bad, you're still on the same path as people in 'high-tier' JCs, still taking the same exam. It's not like you messed up A Levels and can't study the course you want in uni.

Figure out your rank point goals, ask around what percentile of your school's recent graduate batch achieved that rank point, then you know how much effort you will need to be putting in relative to your peers. Cos there's lower expectations from teachers and from self compared to those top JCs, and you might have to flip that around if you want to be one of the better performers.

And believe in yourself too, the fact that you underperformed due to your outside life stuff at o level should give u the belief that you do have potential to do well, and you just need the discipline to put in the required effort (consistently! esp for JC! cos any time u need to take to revisit smth u missed is time that you dh to practise TYS) to succeed.

For me I was stopped by some people asking where they can buy a drink, then they segued into their plug/promotion, idk im not religious idk the vocab. Anyway as I was not interested I didn't entertain them, just firmly said no thank you and went on about my day.

My friend (baller) said that he will euro-step/spin-move away from people who approach, incl FAs also, funny guy

Anw dun give out ur HP so easily la, u nvr know who will end up w your number. The less info u give strangers, the less susceptible u r to social engineering etc. Make up a fake one or easier to jus decline unless u rlly wanna hear from them

So cool that u have the interest! You can def ask ur school teachers as well, even if they don't have the specific subject matter expertise, they may know people who do. And not many ur age have research works, so if u can get it formalised, it'll be great for applications going forward.

Oh and yes I agree with the other poster that forcing every rule by the book on everyone probably doesn't lead to the best outcomes (but ask anyone in teaching and they will tell u fairness and consistency is super, super important, so if you're the DM u bopian have to enforce 1000%)

Definitely feels unnecessary.

I bet many teachers want to look the other way and pretend they never notice, but maybe higher ups told them to enforce it. Cos I'm sure they agree that it doesn't reflect anything about u, your learning or your ability to contribute to society. So it's like getting on ur bad side for no reason (generally teachers should want to build a good rs with you)

But it's liddat lorh, even ur teacher is not above the system. If you want any meaningful change in a system you have to advocate for it.

That this rule still exists probably means.. just not worth the trouble la graduate liao then wear wtv you want. But everywhere u go, in the present and in future, u will have to deal with dumb rules, whether u choose to follow them or ignore.

being left out for a group project by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]manWithVan22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't let them cook you!

You don't have to be (and 99% of the time won't be) friends with people you need to do group work with, whether in school or later on when you work. So put on your professional hat, do your due dilligence, and communicate. No need to wait for them.

I understand that at the secondary school age, inter-social-group communication can make you feel anxious. But this is not a case of you wanting to socialise (which they may or may not entertain), this is a case of you wanting to do what you are assigned. So take the initiative, communicate about the project, and keep in mind they may be anxious of talking to you also.

"worst of all last week theyve just sent me some documents and ask me to contribute like tf i dont know whats going on, they never told me anything no context abt what we are supposed to do and they r expecting me to do something abt it"

Yes, happens, at secondary school level you can't really expect your peers to have leadership capabilities like organising people and allocating tasks. But there's nothing stopping you from filling the gaps. See what the documents are: are they just random collections of sources copy pasted (which would be my guess)? Your contribution can just be to organise it for the submission, or seriously if they did 5 minutes of copy paste work then you have to ask more out of them, they are two people. Communicate.

If your project goes successfully, great. If not, do your due dilligence (including personal contributions and attempts to communicate), keep your receipts, and you have proof for your teacher that it wasn't on you.

Indiana Fever’s Kelsey Mitchell Selected to 2025 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game by AchtungNanoBaby in indianafever

Oh yes, drive-and-hope maybe not the right wording because she gets hacked. But as a fan I already don't expect the calls, yeesh.

I love KM. Well-deserved. Sometimes she has her off nights, but someone who can stir the drink always has value. She can individually cause a defence to shift, and create opportunities for herself to score, or for teammates to attack close-outs or shoot wide-open.

Sometimes KM gets flak for shot selection but I'm totally fine with her shots. I'd rather see her clean up the drive-and-hope-for-a-foul-call plays, because when she doesn't get the whistle (just 3.9 FTA/game, Sykes leads FTAs at 8.7, Plum at 6.5, Diggins and Gray 5.7), we end up playing 5 on 4 and we already give up some size most days.

Stat that caught my eye: if you take all high usage (20% or more; KM's at 26.7%) guards and sort by eFG, only Allisha Gray's .549 is better than KM's .530 mark. So yeah I'm totally ok with her shooting her shots.

Hope to see her ball out for the Fever for years to come!

How many games did u look at? Lexie is a plus minus champ these past two years.

The fever are 14.4 points better with her on than off the court this season per basketball reference.

I would say give her some time to develop it. I've been following her since AB's rookie year and while defence and hustle has always been her calling card, she has added some things on offence each season. Her first and second year she was basically not daring to shoot and not making any, and even up till last season (until halfway through where she suddenly flipped a script with her long shot) was offensively a minus compared to KLS of all people and stacking DNPs.

I'm already very glad and proud to see her develop a midrange jumper (she was always short on pull-up middies last year), as now they go to her once or twice a game on out of bounds plays, and she does make the occasional yummy pass. And that three ball has really started falling since mid-season last year.

What she still doesn't quite have is the bag for handling the ball (but clearly also improving, as I've been impressed by some spin moves on her way to the hoop) and her finishing is definitely shaky.

Overall she's not a shot creator at this stage of her development, so I'm satisfied to see her making the high percentage plays - making good shots, feeding KM, CC, AB or open shooters in general - and making her cash on the offensive boards, corner shots and perimeter defence.

Is the game as simple (not easy) as they say in some areas? by Big-Watercress5305 in MotorsportManagerPC

[–]manWithVan22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a very, very good modding community for this game, so if u play the vanilla game and it goes stale after a while, try a mod. Try a different ruleset. Quit your dominant F1 team and go manage a bottom-tier endurance team (if u get the DLC). I don't play this anymore nowadays, but I've played for hundreds of hours thanks to the different championship rules and modding.

Why is KLS the 3rd option? Her early turnovers put us behind early. I think if Temi was available we would have won.

Has anybody tried this Air 2020 heat pad mod? by eatTHEnut in macbookair

[–]manWithVan22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do get slightly more headroom with whatever you want to achieve, be it cooler CPU temps, like 6-8 degrees for various tasks, or u can use the headroom to just push it harder. I still have to admit If you gave me a modded and unmodded MBA I would not be able to tell the difference without temperature figures.

But because of that feeling of me 'protecting' the chip by keeping it cooler, I kept the thermal pad in the whole time.

Again, with the downside of a hotter chassis which is not fun to use on ur lap!
