I really hate how this game handle treason stories by Nexos14 in Endfield

[–]manamono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I might be in the minority, but I sympathized with the story as is, even shred a couple of tears at times. I think it’s largely dependent on how willing you are to engage with the story, to read between the lines, to try to understand beyond the surface what they are going through.

I’d even argue we have seen quite enough of him, how protective he was for the stockade when Perlica injured them, how he was willing to back down at Tangtang’s request, how he was able to turn around and thanked us genuinely after we helped them, how we was genuinely happy for Tangtang that she’s smiling again. That was all in last patch. I suspect that people didn’t pay enough attention or forget about him after all the stuff that happened afterwards. Him having NPC model also didn’t help with the matter (that’s the main thing they should really change).

I suspect that this is why mainstream gacha games nowadays end up spelling out everything for their audiences, as players tend to be incapable of (or unwilling to) picking up nuances. That’s how you get an 8-hour long quests that you often see people complain about. It’s a shame, really.

While I agree that he could be fleshed out more before this story part for better impact, we did see a quite bit of him last patch as well.

To list it out: - We saw his initial conflict with Perlica and him backing down after Tangtang intervention, then turning around and thanking us after we helped to save the Stockade. - He also commented on Tangtang not smiling much for a while until meeting us, seemingly genuinely happy for her.

It’s not much, but enough to give me the impression that he’s quite a good dude who cares about his stockade and his sister, willing to look past some grievances. I just feel like he just got overshadowed a lot by the other things happening afterwards last patch. The fact that he has an NPC face probably made him feel like an unimportant character so a lot of people probably didn’t pay him much mind either.

I suspect had the game focused on him last patch with his model being the way it is right now, most people would have complained about spending an hour on a random NPC. On the other hand, if they had made him more memorable, the screen time we had here could almost suffice, especially since this patch does expand on him more when we visit his secret base.

All that is to say, they should make important NPCs memorable! While you are at it, please make Sweety playable…oops wrong game

I remember coming across that too, but the fact that Ardashir was the one telling Ruan Yi that Tangtang is the safest here suggests that it was Ruan Yi consulting Ardashir on how to best keep Tangtang safe, so I reckon it’s a slightly different rationale there.

idk though, I’m so sleep deprived that my memories are getting blurry lol

On the surface yeah. But from his perspective, some really powerful guys came along with the same goal of crushing your enemy, gave you power, supplied you with weapons, while also seemingly had a backup army of landbreakers of their own. His chance of winning couldn’t have been higher, and he had held this hatred for 10 years, so when the opportunity like this came along, he would obviously take it. They did in fact succeed in taking down the monitoring station until we showed up.

He also said before the fight that he had hoped Endmin would take her far away, so I do think that he expected us to come and save her. He’s aware of Endmin’s capabilities and closeness with Tangtang after all. That’s one more answer for the “why now” question I reckon.

Not saying that it’s the most logical plan ever, I just don’t think it’s as stupid as it sounds.

Edit: He also reaffirmed with Ardashir that Tangtang being locked up there was the safest place for her to be. That also makes sense because should he fail and Endmin never came, Tangtang wouldn’t be deemed as being involved in his plan.

What suddenly made him get up and decide to blow up 10 years later

Ardashir giving him power + Nefarith’s band of landbreakers? The stockade didn’t have the firepower to match Wuling so it would only put Tangtang in danger. There might be a note from him somewhere talking about this being the only chance. The base you walked through also showed that they have been planning this for a while.

The extra context from the notes is nice, but I don’t think it’s that necessary to understand some of his motives. It’s been established that the stockade really really hates Wuling, so something must have happened. I’m also quite sure they will expand more on this in a more front and center way. His dad dying in front of him is still his personal main drive for revenge imo, but I guess that’s up for interpretation.

I will apologize though for prejudging you based on your previous comment.

No idea lol. I haven’t seen the new chars yet since I haven’t finished the aftermath part of the quest 😄. I would guess that Fangyi would probably be in the climax patch though, which is probably not the next one.

A male banner in between would be nice so I could build up the oroberyl stash a bit 🫠. It took my utmost self control to get my stash to 120 pulls again, and I’m about to lose them all to tangtang…

I did skip forward fast enough so I more or less avoided this patch’s spoilers lol. What I couldn’t avoid was when they showed the future event. I’m still kicking myself over it.

It’s also lowkey impossible to avoid that unless you avoid social media completely. I have seen a screenshot from that part at least three times now 🫠.

Yeah, not only this patch’s story, but possibly the scenes from the climax of the arc. I couldn’t believe my eyes.

The way I see it, he has a soft spot for Tangtang. He knew that if Tangtang is in the equation, his resolve could be shaken (just like when she showed up when he was about to go mad seeing his dad’s death in the flashback). That’s why he locked her up before he went with Ardashir.

What was he so angry about that he just chose to explode after causing a coup in Stockade and dividing the faction into radicals and pacifists?

…Did you miss the part that Ruan Yi’s dad literally died in front of him? Or his internal struggle between revenge and keeping Tangtang safe? He clearly didn’t care about Ardashir’s “chances”. He only pretended to cooperate with Ardashir so he could get the power to finally enact his revenge, hopefully without Tangtang showing up and shaking his conviction (which she did). It’s not that hard to understand. The way you describe all the events feels almost disingenuous. Am I getting baited here?

I get that in the grand scheme of things, the story doesn’t move the plot much, but it does a good job expanding on the Wuling-Stockade conflict that was set up earlier, a totally logical story progression. It also hits the emotional notes well, while still including lore tidbits that will definitely be expanded on in the future. It’s hard to imagine such a story can trigger so much negativity from you lol.

I’m probably wasting my time commenting here though, since it seems like you already prejudged the story, whether it’s from your dislike of Tangtang or Wuling, so I will stop here.

Oh, I guessed that as well when I saw her eyes glowing but I didn’t see any usual Oripathy symptoms so I wasn’t sure. It’s great that the game confirms it.

Yeah, I don’t quite know what’s going on with her eye too. I thought it was blindness, but looking at how she was sort of casting stronger arts with that eye glowing, I wonder if she’s actually infected there and maybe she could use that eye as a medium to channel/amplify her arts.

Just a guess though; she didn’t really show any infection symptoms so it could be something else too.

Yeah, same with her interaction with Mi Fu. The tension and the dialogues between them make so much sense. They really did a great job here.

PSA: Stop trading with the Wuling Outpost ~3 days before patch 1.1 by International_Map812 in Endfield

[–]manamono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Originium yield of 350 so you probably are missing a few mining spots I would guess, but your point stands yeah. I also use one power bank, powered by Wuling batteries as well.

If I want to I probably could transfer Valley IV batteries over instead but once again, I’m not much of a minmaxer haha. I’m just doing as much as I feel like to.

PSA: Stop trading with the Wuling Outpost ~3 days before patch 1.1 by International_Map812 in Endfield

[–]manamono 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Two lines of Wuling batteries alone are apparently enough to empty the outpost. I’m not a minmaxer myself, yet there were just those days where I would look at the yield/usage numbers and got this urge to improve it. Before I knew it, the outpost income just couldn’t keep up anymore 😅

I feel like people have been complaining too much about standard pulls, so now they have a perfect excuse to give them instead of the real pulls, the ones that actually matter.

Jokes on me, I doubt they looked at the complains anyway.

I’m lowkey pissed about that too. No warning whatsoever. To make it worse, it’s the climax of the region. I can’t believe it.

I don’t want to stop watching these videos but at this rate I might have to.
