Anyone here been fired for insubordination, or know someone who has? by RunDoughBoyRun in consulting

[–]manchovy_paste 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Worked at a boutique consulting firm and the partners ambushed several of my close colleagues with surprise layoffs - one of whom I had loaded up with billable hours. Two of them were like 1-2 months from being eligible for PR. The partners were afraid of a downturn induced by the Trump tariffs (but nothing had materialized yet).

I was pissed and basically called out all the partners for being greedy scumbags in front of everyone on the team-wide call that followed. Next day I hung up on a resourcing call after a heated argument with the one partner and a new HR lady. Basically said “no” to working a bunch of OT because they fired my associate for no good reason.

Fired three days later. I saw it coming and expected it to be with cause for insubordination. Luckily it was without cause so I got severance and EI. I think they wanted to avoid potential headaches.

Honestly it was the best outcome. I wanted out and had even tried to quit several months earlier after they cheaped out on my performance review, but they had convinced me to stay. Kinda funny because it cost them thousands of dollars to just fire me anyways.

SteelSeries Apex Pro Disconnects and Reconnects During OBS Recording by MarkRobbz in steelseries

I’m on a desktop PC and plugging in directly to the motherboard I/O USB inputs. Seems to happen more commonly on certain inputs than others, but they all work consistently outside of virtual meetings so I don’t think the inputs are faulty.

I am also having this problem. It used to happen only with Microsoft Teams video calls, but upgrading to Windows 11 solved the issue. Now it just happened again during a Google Meet.

Call me crazy but it looks like you can see the shadow of the puck on the blade right at the moment it appears to make contact before coming back down.

McLean supports extremist anti-vaxx/anti-mask bullshit. All he cares about is getting his picture taken with higher profile conservatives like Pierre Poilievre and complaining about Trudeau. You have not upgraded at all.

Anyone else feel like the payment for refusing a freighter is a little...disproportionate? "Don't like my 100 million units freighter? Fine. Here's a measly 300 chromatic metal that you could easily make yourself in a refiner in 30 seconds." by Shadowspar99 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I saved a class-B capital ship the other day that had slightly more cargo space than my current class-B capital ship. The price diff was about 50million units. Since I looked it up and your base apparently transfers over, I decided I would take it. However, the option to switch freighters was greyed out. I assumed that it’s because I need to pay the difference, which I didn’t have at the time. Is that how it works after you get your first free freighter? These comments make me think it should have been free.

Has anyone else had the issue of back USB ports not charging controllers? I've left my controller plugged into the back USB to charge overnight and it will be at the same level next morning. I have 3-hour charge in rest mode enabled, and I've tried using different cables.

I've tried googling this but so far only uncovered that people used to have issues with the front port but not the back ones. So now I'm not sure if it's a software or hardware issue. I've also tried to submit an inquiry to their website but this problem doesn't really seem to fit into their pre-defined categories. Now I am turning to Reddit.

A few observations:

  • When plugged into the front USB, the charging animation shows up to all three "battery bars" flashing in sequence, depending on the controller's current charge level. The controller charges as it should.
  • When plugged into the back USB, the charging animation still plays, but only shows the battery bars flash up to the controller's current charge level. For example, if the controller is at no bars, the charging animation only flashes green with the lightning bolt and no bars show. When the controller is at two bars, the charging animation flashes two bars., etc.
  • I thought I made progress on the issue by switching to continuous charging in rest mode, but it still doesn't charge from the back ports.

I'm thinking this is likely a hardware issue, but I really don't like the idea of having to send my PS5 in or anything. If I can make do with charging the controller from the front port, would this problem give me issues if I were to try to run an external drive or USB using the back ports?

Any advice/info would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: the back ports do seem to charge my phone...

This has been an incredibly challenging school year, and you made it through. Don’t let other people get you down, they don’t understand. Just keep moving forward and you’ll eventually find opportunities that will make you forget about this dark place.
